5 out of 5 eggsSamsung makes great TV's that are best in their class

Pros: Samsung makes great TV's that surpass every other manufacturer in their class. I have two Samsung's in my house and I can tell you the image is beautiful. LED is the way to do (LED is similar to LCD its back-lit better so that their are no dark spots on the screen).

This also TV has the ability to directly connect to the internet. I also wanted to add this TV actually has a build in camera. TV's of this class have never been cheaper.

One thing that I have found with TV's that its very important to actually look at the TV in person. Now when you look at the TV's, go to a store to see them, because many times specialty stores like Best Buy play with the lighting controls on the TV and in the store to skew the image to there advantage. Once you look at the TV simply look and decide which one looks better to you.

The next step is to look at the features that are offered with the TV. Here are some offered by this TV:

This Samsung comes with Auto Volume which automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel, lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low. This reduces the difference in volume when changing channels. The Auto Volume feature can be set to Normal, Night or Off.

As far as outputs most of these TV's will come with more than enough Inputs and Outputs. This TV comes with 4 HDMI Audio/Video In, 1 Ethernet LAN In/Out, 1 RCA Component Audio/Video In and 1 Digital Coaxial Audio Out.

Clear Motion Rate (CMR) is another feature that comes with this TV. CMR gives you motion-clarity that can display action-packed movement with superior sharpness, clarity and contrast.

With this Smart HDTV there is a full web browser with WiFi built-in apps made for TV. Some of the apps this TV features is Hulu Plus, YouTube, Netflix, Facebook, and Twitter. Browse the web while you watch movies and TV shows, and enjoy TV while you chat with friends and family online, all on one screen with this Samsung.

5 out of 5 eggsTerrific TV!

Pros: Picture quality
Excellent remote
Easy setup

Cons: Ethernet connectivity

Other Thoughts: I'll preface this review by mentioning why I bought from Newegg and not one of the competitors offering the set for hundred$ less. I checked the reviews, and it's probable that most (if not all) were produced by shills. So there's no reliable record...

I also considered plasmas: Samsung PN60F8500, TC60ZT60 and TC60VT60. Burnin was an issue as were complaints of the Panasonics' heat and fan noise.

Anyway, the AIT driver was prompt, friendly, and very helpful (Samsung has a neat box design that makes it easy to extract it).

It's a very attractive unit. Other reviewers have remarked how the stand is quite stylish, levitating the screen about 1½”. I used my stand's mount to raise it above the center speaker.

I was disappointed that when connected to a known-good ethernet terminal, it reported that it wasn't; however, after installing a switch it connects reports the LAN presence, but would not connect. Wi-fi was a snap to join. The TV's web surfing feature is cumbersome.

The IR connection with the DirecTV DVR was simple to configure. After typing in my ZIP Code, it showed the possible choices, and it works well, with limitations.

Included were a standard remote and the Smart Touch Control, the latter of which receives mixed reviews, to which I'll add mine: It's an odd and sometimes unpredictable (possibly possessed?) device, now entombed in a drawer. The voice command and motion control features were unimpressive.

Out-of-the-box picture was very good (too vivid), but benefited from some tweaking. Digital Trends' review is a good starting place. Once adjusted, colors are exceptional. BTW, I did not see much off-axis picture degradation. Others have reported the plasma-like blacks and I agree; detail in very dark portions of an image is maintained.

Avatar 3D was superb, with no crosstalk. The glasses' design isn't great. Over my regular glasses, they stayed in place OK.

I'm using an AVR and all the sources are connected to it, so I don't have experience with the HDMI ARC-enabled port, nor, for an extended time, the built-in speakers. Anyone with thisTV should opt for external sound for source material with sonic depth.

I'm absolutely delighted with this unit – it's all that I expected!
