Pros: thin, good picture quality, realistic

Cons: price

Other Thoughts: Worth the money if you can't hold out for the next model to come down in price.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Good, but not Perfect

Pros: I've been running this night and day as my main PC monitor for about 3 weeks now. Here are my thoughts:

Love the super thin panel.
Very little border material, makes for a sleek clean look.
Hidden speakers on the back (even better since I don’t use them).

3D, especially CGI movies, will blow your mind.
3D glasses are super light weight and don’t give me a headache like the non-powered ones did at the store.
The 2D to 3D function works surprisingly well, and you can make it look better within their menu.

The 240hz feature makes movies look amazing and practically 3D without the glasses, however using it as a PC monitor, you cannot specify 120 or 240hz, the TV does this upscaling itself, and you’re left to imagine how many hertz it’s actually processing, because it just labeled as “Auto-Motion Plus”.
Normal Windows 7 usage seems more “alive”. The windows have more of a 3D shadow affect when layered on top of one another and the text seems to jump out me, but not unnatural-like, and each letter does not have a different depth.

The remote is very nice. Very few buttons, light up function for the dark although their labels don't glow, and most are shaped different so you can feel them out. The jury is still out on the voice recognition mic built into it. And the touch swipe is cool, but a little cumbersome when navigating deep settings menus. Personally I'd prefer a 4 direction D-pad

ZERO delay or ghosting running 1080p movies or with PC games which can run as high as 100fps.

Deep, rich blacks, with no pixel bleed.
Bright, clean, vibrant colors.

Cons: The last 4 years of Samsung LCD models I’ve used, bought and recommended to other people had the connection jacks on the left side (if you’re facing the screen). This year they decided to move to them to right side, which is the complete opposite from all of my equipment.

Some genius engineer had the bright idea to mount the cable jacks vertically! And to make matters worse, they’re recessed! So now, not only are all of my thick HDMI cables bent on a hard angle because of the vertical orientation, they are also forced into a mini cavity, bending them more. They should have been mounted underneath so the cables plug up and in, with no recess.

The same guy probably chose to make the stand shiny plastic chrome. So now, during the day or in lit rooms, sure it looks fancy, but when watching day or night there are always 2 bright diagonal lines of glare shining at me. VERY distracting. I will have to find some black wrapping paper or something to cover them and hope it doesn't junk up the look. That will take a lot of research.

The Picture menu navigation is HORRIBLY designed. All of the special image settings that I spent hours tinkering with to get the perfect picture, they are buried 3 windows deep, and I have to navigate down an entire page on the second screen just to reach the third! Sounds trivial, but once you do it for yourself 5-10 times, you’ll see how insanely annoying and time consuming this actually is.

In order for the TV's smart hub function to access media on your PC, you MUST install their program called AllShare. Initially the download location wouldn’t work; the page pointed to a dead link. It took 3 days of waiting and back and forth with their email support for them to understand the issue and send me the correct link. And in the end, they still didn’t acknowledge the problem.

Once I got it, I watched the little demo video on how to set it up, and get this… you MUST use your Samsung login account on both your TV and the newly installed program on your PC to make it work. That's not the problem though. After you star to set it up, the program takes a snap shot of every file you tell it to share, it’s format type, (jpg, mp3 etc) and filename, and copies that list to their servers, forever storing a list of every file you own and want to share on your PRIVATE home network, on THEIR SERVER, with no option around this. Again, this may seem trivial to the layman, but to me, not only does this feel like a HUGE breech of privacy, but it also means everything will always need an active internet connection.

Here’s another stupid ‘feature’ if you can call it that. You MUST setup a network connection AND connect to internet to configure voice recognition beyond the initial tutorial. Wait.. WHAT?! Yup. No way around it.

My model has light bleed from the frame edges in 4 separate locations, which shows up in dark scenes or black screens. Lower left corner, 2 on top and one on the right.

Other Thoughts: Even if you don't plan to use any smart tv functions, connect to the internet once to update the firmware, then disconnect.

There was just 1 dead pixel, top center, red, for the first 5-7 days. Then it went away/unstuck itself.

Be warned, you WILL have to play with a multitude of picture and animation settings to get it to be a perfect picture.

Also keep in mind, that the 240hz function will make HD content look real. And I don't mean, wow, that looks nice. I mean oh WOW I'm looking through a window!

Many people around the internet/world just can't accept this level of clarity and automatically hate it, calling it the "soap opera affect". If after giving it an honest try for 1-2 weeks, you still don't like it, just turn off auto-motion plus. But remember, this technology is part of what you're paying for with these high end monitors.

My issue with the shipping, which was NOT handled by newegg, but a company called AIT.

Normally everything I have shipped from newegg is great. Fast to leave (1 business day or less), accurate tracking, and usually fast to arrive. Completely hassle free, and 1 of the many reasons I love them. I didn't know they wouldn't be handling it for this though.

My order which was placed 1:30pm PST on a Thursday, it did not ship until Monday night at 6pm PST. There were at least 10 updates between Monday night and Tuesday, but not 1 described a location. So there was no way to tell where it was or how far along it would be. This is important not because I was excited to get it, but because I had to plan to take off work to sign for this giant box. Their delivery date said on or before the following Monday. This is an important backdrop to my next issue.

Because no retail company ever needs to actually call me, I had completely forgotten to update my phone number on newegg after a recent change. I realized this after receiving the confirmation an hour later (Thursday). Called immediately and Newegg said the order was already processing and they couldn’t update it, so I would have to call the shipper. Called their 800 number, and updated in under 5 minutes. No problem.

Called back on Tuesday to try to understand their wacked out idea of tracking, and figured I should mention the phone number thing again just to make sure, and guess what… it wasn’t changed. Arg, ok fine, the first lady didn't do her job, but it's definitely fixed now.

Called back Wednesday because the Tuesday call couldn’t tell me any real tracking details, and guess what, my phone number STILL was not updated. They PROMISED this time, it was definitely changed, AND they would call Thursday morning to deliver it that day.

Great, took off work, waited... waited... By noon Thursday, no call. I call them AGAIN "oh hmm it says here they tried to call but the number was disconnected”. WHAT!? Yup, had to take off another day Friday.

Thankfully when it finally did arrive, the box was completely free of damage and all was well. But s
