3 out of 5 eggsHappy with the TV, disappointed with NewEgg

Pros: Great picture quality, Smart TV is a breeze to set up.

Cons: Not 120Hz as described by Newegg at the time that I purchased the device.

Other Thoughts: I am very pleased with this television, however when I bought it, it was described on NewEgg's site as "120Hz," which has since been rectified. This was one of the main reasons that I purchased this particular model. After receiving the package (in a VERY timely manor, kudos to NewEgg's shipping dept and FedEx) I immediately set it up and have been enjoying it ever since. I didn't realize it was not a 120Hz (which speaks wonders to Samsung's upconversion technology) until I tossed the box and noticed that it never says 120Hz. After some research I found that it is indeed a 60Hz television, but I digress. If you are looking for great picture quality, and an outstanding SmartTV UI, look no further.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Choice, Best in Price Range @ ~ $640

Pros: Definitely the picture. Everything looks beautiful on this tv. The black levels are the best I've seen in this price range, ever. The Colors are vivid, and I've found the dynamic lighting adjustments to be pretty useful. I calibrated it according to the lighting of the room, but it looked great straight out of the box.

Now, Newegg DOES say that this tv has a 120Hz refresh rate, AND IT DOESN"T. It has a 60Hz refresh rate. The confusion arises from the "Clear-Motion Rate", a metric Samsung seems to have invented to describe the effect of several different factors which all have an effect on how motion looks on the tv.

At first, I thought this was just clever marketing, trying to make a positive out of a negative. But after watching particularly closely during football, baseball, and action-oriented shows, I actually believe they're on to something. Everything I watched looked great. I tried both 480 and 1080p, and even on standard definition this tv never failed to impress. I've found the glare to be surprisingly low and the viewing angles nice and wide.

I've found the sound needs to be adjusted, depending on the quality of input (if streaming or using low-res source), but can be made to sound pretty good for tv speakers. Thankfully the software provides multiple audio presets and an adjustable equalizer, which I've used to my satisfaction. You may want to turn off the sound-effects in the audio options so you don't get a little ding every time you change the volume. In it's defense, the ding is pretty innocuous.

The software interface for adjusting picture, audio, etc is very useable and sleek..

The remote is quite good (other than when trying to use it as a mouse), and lights up when a button is pressed - a feature I find quite useful.

Lastly, the tv is very lightweight but still feels well-made. The stand is effective and fairly stable as far as these things go. I haven't mounted it, but I'd wager it would be easy to get it into place.

Cons: The smart features are a bit clunky at best. The apps' interfaces are a bit counter-intuitive. Browsing for videos on YouTube, for example, can be quite a chore. I've actually found its easier to open the web-browser and manually visit a site rather than use some of the apps.

But just getting to a website is a trying experience, thanks to the arrow-key-based cursor interface. Now, any time a company tries to replicate a mouse's functionality on a tv remote, it's pretty much doomed to failure unless they include a track pad. Unfortunately, Samsung doesn't.

On the plus side, the predictive typing options can be quite useful and speed up the process significantly.

I've personally experienced no wi-fi problems whatsoever with this tv, but I usually use my laptop to connect via HDMI and browse/stream from it anyways. I also made sure to update the tv's firmware immediately upon first using, and that may have prevented some headaches.

People have complained about the mere 3 HDMI inputs, but I've found them to be quite sufficient. 2 are easily accessed by swiveling the tv on it's base. I recommend plugging the cable/sat box into the 3rd HDMI input on the back, since you won't need to unplug it frequently. Only you yourself know what your needs are regarding # of HDMI inputs, but it's just really not that big of a deal to unplug one so that you can use another device.

The audio can definitely be made to sound decent as far as tv speakers go, but don't confuse that with great sound. Do yourself a favor and buy external surround speakers for this baby. You won't be disappointed.

You may need to make video and especially audio adjustments to get best performance. To me that's not a con, but I know there may be some buyers who are a bit intimidated by all the options. If that's the case for you, invite your tech-savvy friend over for a beer and ask them to do it for you.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy it for the smart features. Buy it for the amazing quality picture and the great price.

3 out of 5 eggsUN46F5500AFXZA

Pros: This is a good mid Level Smart TV.

Cons: The specs here say that it's refresh rate is 120Hz. It is actually 60 Hz. The Clear Motion Rate is 120. That's not the same as the Refresh rating.

Other Thoughts: Only gave 3 stars because the specifications here are "inaccurate".

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing.

Pros: This TV is wonderful, the price was amazing and everything I've trird has worked 100% so far. The picture is awesome, my PS3 and Xbox look great on it. It's very light and was easy to set up, the 3 HDMI inputs are so handy if you're a gamer. I read other reviews about the sound not being great, but it sounds great even when turned up very high. (Our tv is in a corner.) Long story short: this tv is just simply amazing.

Cons: It takes patience to type since there are no letters on the numbers.
