4 out of 5 eggsGreat for advanced users

Pros: This TV becomes and excellent pc monitor for those who are willing to put the time in to setting it up.

Cons: For anyone less than an expert this TV is far more hassle than it is worth and will look worse than a similarly priced 1080p TV from a regular brand.

Other Thoughts: The Seiki SE50UY04 is a poor quality TV that has the hidden feature of being an amazing monitor for someone who knows how to unlock its potential.

The monitor comes poorly calibrated, and does a average job of upscaling content from 1080p to 4k. However with the right equipment and some knowhow you can reach a decent calibration using the TV's service menu and you can use a software upscaler to achieve a very good looking picture for video.

The true talent of this monitor comes in its hidden ability to accept a true 120hz signal from a PC at 1080p which results in some of the smoothest gaming you will ever experience. Additionally the 120hz input allows you to use nVidia 3d if you have the kit.

When used as a desktop monitor from about 3-4 feet away, the 4k resolution is breathtaking and slightly overwhelming as you may lose track of where windows are (or your cursor). Gaming in 4k suffers from input lag due to the 30hz refresh rate, but still looks smooth. This TV is best suited for MMOs, and other slow mousing games in 4k, and 120hz@1080p for fast mousing games like RTS and shooters.

The sound quality is laughable and unredeemable, but there is an optical out and a 3.5mm out from the TV to redirect the sound to something good.

Overall this monitor has proved to be exceptionally hard to set up correctly, but very rewarding now that I have done so.

1 out of 5 eggspoor tv

Pros: none

Cons: I bought a 50" from Seiki and it died with in a month. I bought it in November 29 of 2013 died around xmas and I shipped it back to the manufacturer in end of January and they seem to give good customer service but then i would wait for ever for replies which never happened, the shipping information and my replacement tv.. I would always have to call them to find out what was going on. they never replied to emails or messages. I am still waiting for a tv and if you want your money back good luck. I am still being pulled around by these guys, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsexcellent PC monitor Average TV

Pros: price, 4k resolution, many output, simple and easy on the eyes design that even my wife likes. Gaming in 1080p looks very good and if you don't mind playing at 30fps then you can try the 4k resolution too if your Video card is strong enough to handle it. The games that support that resolution look amazing

Cons: sound quality, no build-in hdtv tune. no control buttons on the TV so make sure not to loose the average tv remote controller. no optical output for sound so if you have an older surround sound system with optical but without coaxial you can't get 5.1

Other Thoughts: For the reason I got this TV I am super satisfied. I am happy it is not a smart TV. I have one and I never use those apps anyway. I wish it had build-in tuner because I have basic cable without HD converter and all my other TVs (even my 2006 Samsung) get the HD channels but not this one

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I bought this for my Blue Ray most B R will be changing to 4K soon. I have a 32 Seiki TV and it has been Fantastic for 4 years now mostly as a Monitor the Color on both TV are very GOOD and there has been no problems at all except the sound is poor but a good amp will take care of that. I use 100 $ head phones with 200 watt amp the only way to Fly. I know 2 people who also have this TV and they love it for Blue Ray or B4.

Cons: The only con is there will NEVER be 4K TV the networks have said NO it would cost Billions to change over again. But this is alot cheaper that buying a regular 32 monitor. For this price there are NO cons it's not cheap but lite for it's size so it is easy to move.

Other Thoughts: The ONLY TV that comes close to the Color or Picture is a Plasma which cost the same but you are stuck with the OLD 1080P. And this is the future and like i said Blue Ray ia a whole different Picture. Because of my 32 TV by Seiki being so GOOD and reliable after 4 years i went for this and playing B4 is a whole different Ball Game like salt and pepper.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap & Simple 4K - Great Monitor for PC

Pros: - Great PC Monitor for Gaming
- Not "Smart" (unless you like that kind of thing)
- Not 3D (unless you like bleeding out your eyes)
- Super simple to use and setup - no gimmicks
- Thin bezel and thin depth! (I swear its like 2 inches deep and has 3/4 inch bezels)
- Comes with a 6ft HDMI cable!
- Wall mountable and has a Glass stand included

Cons: - Flimsy. When I pull plugs in the back out, it causes the TV to wobble. Not exactly comforting.
- Speakers are junk. 8W barely pushes anything. No surprise. So make sure to plug up your favorite 2.1/5.1 surround sound.
- Remote only works from about 8 feet away
- Power/AC cord doesn't have the Third(ground) plug. Its just 2 prongs.
- VGA port? It would have been nice if this were a DVI port.
- Black levels are not great. So dark colors tend to blend together.
- For gaming you get +60Hz at 1920x1080 and ~30Hz at 3840x2160. Not that great. But I've heard you can push it to +40Hz with newer GPUs like the R9 290X or 780 Ti.

Other Thoughts: OK.
So this 4K TV is one of the cheapest 4K televisions out there. And there isn't much 4K content to boot. But, I'm just using it to watch Blu Ray movies (which look fantastic on it) and to play Battlefield 4 and other PC games through my Rig on it. I plan on buying a new GPU to get a better view soon, because this TV works amazing as a PC Monitor.

Be cautious of what you're looking for. This TV doesn't have the best picture or sound, but it is a great value for a simple TV and huge Monitor. I've never heard of Seiki before, but they won me over with this TV. Besides, I would never pay $5K for name brand 4K. EVER.
