1 out of 5 eggsNot even a year..

Pros: Looked decent enough to use for the little time it lived.

Cons: Died before a year. Watching a movie when the screen just turned off. Tried to turn it back on again and the power light would change but no luck.

Other Thoughts: I will never forgive you Seiki =(

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: I'm impressed, I've used this as my monitor for a little over a year and it's hard going back to a 24" display when I'm at the office.

Cons: It took a little over a week to get use to the size of the screen.

1 out of 5 eggsCUSTOMER SUPPORT For Seiki LED Flat Screen TV Update

Pros: This is an open review (AND WARNING) to ALL POTENTIAL Seiki Buyers.

Before I begin my review on this product, let me set the record straight on something. NewEgg DOES NOT PAY their Eggxpert Reviewers ANY MONEY for a review (GOOD OR BAD - ON ANY PRODUCT)!!! When they 1st asked me to become a reviewer, they told me that I could post ANY TYPE of review that I wanted to, either GOOD OR BAD! The only thing that they asked me to do was to be honest in my review, which I try to be. Now that this is finished, let's start...

On 12/23/2013 I ordered this LED Flat Screen TV (Model SE32FY22) from Seiki for $199.99. I had been looking for a fairly cheap LED TV that had 3 HDMI Inputs along with a PC VGA Input that I needed (so it could also be used as a monitor). This TV had all that, plus some other things I needed. At the time I thought that it was a good deal. So much for that thought.

Cons: This is an open review (AND WARNING) to ALL POTENTIAL Seiki Buyers.

About 2 weeks into ownership, some strange things started to happen. First the TV started to turn on while I was at work and no one was home. And no, I don't live in a haunted house. Then the TV would not turn on using the Remote. In order to turn it on, I had to unplug the TV and let it sit for a bit then plug it back in. After doing this, the Remote would work just fine. At least until IT decided to do it all over again.

Sometime later I contacted Seiki to see if they had an Update for their TV that would fix this problem and they informed me that this was the 1st time anyone reported these problems and that they did NOT have any Patches for this TV at the moment. They also suggested that I send the TV back to them to have it fixed as it was still under warranty. I decided that overall these issues were something minor that I could live with and did not really feel like spending the EXTRA money or not having the TV to work with.

Up until this time the only Inputs I had been using were the PC, Composite (for my DVD Player), and the Antennae (for Cable) Inputs. Then I got 2 accessories that required HDMI Inputs. Now I needed the 3 HDMI Inputs as well. This is where the serious problems started. NONE of those 3 HDMI Inputs worked! NONE! Now I was forced to send the TV back to Seiki.

I contacted Seiki again and they sent me instructions on how to send the unit back along with Seiki's OWN Replacement Policy.

It cost me roughly $70.00 (Cost of the Outer Box, Insurance, and Shipping) just to ship it back to Seiki, then I had to wait 2-4 weeks for my replacement TV.

Now according to Seiki's OWN REPLACEMENT POLICY, they said they would do the following:

The specifications of the replacement unit that you are shipped will be matched to the following of the original unit that you purchased.
• Screen size
• Backlight (LED or LCD)
• Screen refresh (60 Hz or 120 Hz)
• Panel Resolution (720P, 1080P, 4K)

There are a number of issues that I have with Seiki. First, what I sent in for repair is NOT WHAT I GOT BACK!!! Nor is it anything like it OR as good. Plain and simple!!!

The unit I sent in for repair was a Model SE32FY22 and the one I got back was a Model SE32HY27. Both are 60 Hz TV's, so no problems there. The first big problem is that the SE32HY27 is roughly 2 years older in technology than the SE32FY22 I sent in. The other problems start when you compare the Spec's of both models.

Pixel Resolution 1920 x 1080 1366 x 768 TERRIBLE
HD Compatible Up To 1080P 720P TERRIBLE
Refresh Rate 6.5 ms 7 ms BAD

Other Thoughts: As you can plainly see by the above chart, the Replacement TV I got back is NOWHERE AS GOOD as the one I sent in. Not only that but the unit I got back was roughly 2 years older (in technology).

The unit itself has MAJOR PROBLEMS!!! The latest issue is that this SUPPOSEDLY REFURBISHED TV is NOW displaying the SAME traits that my ORIGINAL TV did. Mainly TURNING ON when NO ONE is at home. I have it hooked up to 2 DVD Players, a VCR, my PC, and the Cable Box. When playing a movie from the Cable Box the screen displays artifacts (LITTLE SQUARE BOXES) on the screen and both the sound AND the picture freeze for a second. This makes watching ANYTHING of ANY interest either impossible or worthless. I should make a Video of the screen and post it on the Internet just to show everyone just how bad it really is.

In all honesty, the only way I can see that this replacement would have "GONE DOWN EASIER" is IF Seiki had sent me a tube of Petroleum Jelly with the TV. I feel totally used! I wanted to use ANOTHER WORD HERE, but NewEgg wouldn't let me.

To say that I am slightly displeased with Seiki's replacement unit would be a VAST UNDERSTATEMENT!!! I went so far as to E-Mail Seiki with a copy of this review to see IF they were interested in trying to resolve this issue in some manner with me privately. It has now been OVER A WEEK since I sent them the E-Mail, and so far they have NOT RESPONDED!

It is my hope that this review will serve as a warning to ALL potential Seiki buyers. Like they say, "Let the buyer beware." I wish I had listened to that advice!!!

So now what will I do with this TV? First, I DO NOT plan on sending this unit back to Seiki as it would cost me another $70.00 plus, and then I'd have to wait another 2-4 weeks until I got another unit. If I did send this unit back there's NO WAY to tell WHAT OTHER piece of junk they'd send me as a replacement. Instead I'll just save my money and buy a reputable brand with the same features. What do they say, Live and learn.

As for Seiki with their "SO CALLED" REPLACEMENT POLICY, you've lost one customer for good. Not only that, but I'd like you to know that I make buying recommendations to a LONG LIST of clients and you can bet your bottom dollar that your name WILL NOT be on that list of products I recommend buying. I would also like you to know that I plan on posting this same review on EVERY SITE I CAN FIND that sells Seiki Products. I'm sure that other buyers will be VERY interested in reading just HOW FAIRLY Seiki treats their customers...

4 out of 5 eggsTook a while, but finally decent PC Monitor

Pros: Inexpensive no nonsense TV/Monitor with LED. My usage is mostly for a PC Monitor and it does a decent job. You get true 1080p

Cons: The defaults of the device are horrible. I had to change almost every setting to get something reasonable.

Marcus R.'s review showed me how to set HD over the air (Thanks!)

I wanted HDMI input from my AMD card. That takes a LOT of work:

On the AMD Catalyst card software, make sure you change to have best digital match:
- Enable GPU scaling - Enable ITC
- scaling to: 0% Overscan
- Pixel format YCbCr 4:4:4

On the TV change had to put sharpness to 0, lower contrast and brightness

No PC compatible sleep mode that I have found. Have to manually turn On/Off with remote.

Other Thoughts: Now that I know how to fine tune it, it's a nice purchase. Just too long to get the PC through HDMI setup.

1 out of 5 eggsDied the day after I got it

Pros: 1080p, was on sale at the time and it's a good size for a monitor.

Cons: Would not turn on the day after I got it. Not sure what happened. The TV turned off after my computer went to sleep at night, and the next morning the LED indicator was neither red nor blue and wouldn't turn back on.

Other Thoughts: I had to RMA this TV. Newegg's customer service was great, but I cannot recommend this TV after my experience. I will stick with Samsung or LG from now on.

1 out of 5 eggsWarning!!! Poor customer service

Pros: Nothing

Cons: This is the worst online shopping experience. The first order came in broken. I requested a replacement and rush the shipping. The rep totally ignored my request and put it on a 3-7days shipping.
And I called the customer service again to fix this. Their supervisor said that was their fault but there's nothing they could do.
So, as a customer I have to suffer all these when I did not do anything wrong.

Other Thoughts: Guys never ever buy things here. Pay a little more at any other website where they treat you as a customer.
