4 out of 5 eggsAmazing picture!

This review is from: Changhong 49" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD49YC5500UA

Pros: I bought this on sale for 300. Delivery was super quick. Picture was ok out of the box. Did some adjusting and got it looking pretty good. For $300 I was more than pleased. Took me a while to try out the 4K as I had to buy a new video card for my PC. Once I hooked it up it immediately recognized the source as 4K. Took a little adjusting but got it working good as a monitor. The 4K videos look amazing.

Cons: There is the input lag with the mouse. I'm not a gamer so that doesn't really bother me.
Takes a while when changing sources and powering up.

Other Thoughts: 49 inch 4K TV for $300 is an amazing deal. I think this TV is a great value if you know what you're using it for. Don't expect thousand dollar performance for $300. I'm using this basically to watch videos and to play back my GoPro footage. Remains to be seen how durable this set is over time, but so far I'm impressed.

4 out of 5 eggsCheapest 4K around, OK performer but NOT so much as monitor

This review is from: Changhong 49" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD49YC5500UA

Pros: - You CAN get 4K with a PC with a decent video cards. FULL 4K for around $250 with decent color rendition.
- 4 HDMI with 1 MHL port which DOES NOT support 4K. with 3 support HMDI 1.4? only. which support 4K at 30Hz. good enough for videos and movies. no ghost and no lag when playing movies.
-Cheap.

Cons: There are a long list of cons
- lag like hell with mouse lagging at least half second so you will not be able to hand/eye coordinate very well. but the work around is to use some touchpad or track ball type mouse which limits your cursor speed and it does help a lot since the lag is minimized.
- take a long time to power up. Also, I don't know if it's just mine but mine doesn't wake up when my PC went to sleep. So you have to power up every time it's sleep. no biggie since you can just set your PC to no sleep, this things doesn't draw too much energy anyway.

Other Thoughts: I saw so many people have problem hook up PC with 4K and some even claimed it's not possible to do so with cheap setup. First of all, I've used a sub-$200 AMD card to get this to 4k, (HD7970, also a 280X). If you look, you can find these mid tier card for under $150. You do have to realize that 4K is like displaying 4 FHD monitors at the same time, lower tier card would just not powerful enough. I don't have Nvidia card to test so with AMD,
1. Check your Video card spec, any card that doesn't have Max Resolution of 4K won't work.
2. There are settings in their new display setting that may have "GPS scaling", "Virtual Super resolution" check on by default, you will need to uncheck those.
3. For some reason, the 4K setting in my PC goes over 4K a little bit, so the desktop would go out of frame for about 1-2 Inches. This is easy to solve, just go to the display setting in Windows and make sure you pick the one with 3840x2160.
Overall it's cheap monitor for videos/web/movies to enjoy 4K on.

2 out of 5 eggsOn Paper a good TV but don't be fooled

This review is from: Changhong 49" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD49YC5500UA

Pros: It Cheap... The picture looked good with still images but for moving images it was just blurry and gosh awful.

Cons: If your not picky and your on a budget I still would not recommend this TV. I spent $150 dollars sending this TV back to Newegg for a refund. I took a gamble with Changhong... and paid for it. Images were blurry... like really bad. I used high end HDMI cables, I tried my cable box, my xbox, my PC with high end graphics card, and nothing could fix the blurry image.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat picture

This review is from: Changhong 49" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD49YC5500UA

Pros: The television has a great picture. It seems to be working well!

Cons: the television was missing part of the stand when delivered. I had to buy a wall mount for it because part of the stand was missing.

Other Thoughts: I contacted Changhong, and they never got back with me. I cannot recommend this television because of that.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat deal, bad luck

This review is from: Changhong 49" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD49YC5500UA

Pros: Appears to be recognized as a 4k display via hdmi
1080p scales up quite nicely, but can't say if that the graphics driver on my computer or the display itself.

Cons: There is some backlight bleed around the edges, hardly notice it unless all you're looking at is dark to near black frames.
The speakers aren't great by any measure and I believe it's coming out the back or the bottom, but I'll assume that whoever is going to buy a this will have some home theater audio system to pair with it.

Other Thoughts: Have not tried running 4k video on this tv.
Mine came without the front curved piece of the tv stand, unlucky packaging.
It was a great deal, $359 combo with two HDMI cables and a Chromecast.
Bad customer service from Changhong.
Great service from Newegg.
Pretty, average experience for the time I used it for before issuing a replacement to get that missing stand-piece. If there's a combo deal like before I'd probably recommend jumping on the deal, otherwise maybe get something that fits your use-case and the room it'll go in.

1 out of 5 eggshalf a TV! impossible to reach customer service! impossible to reach tech support!

This review is from: Changhong 49" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD49YC5500UA

Pros: got it on black Friday.

Cons: out of the box, remote control never worked. had to use buttons on the TV to turn it on and off. after about 1 month of this (and watching youtube videos of how to troubleshoot LCD TVs), I got decided to hunt for loose wires or blown capacitors. Turns out, the TV has 3 main clusters - power source, inputs, and brain. there are two banks near each side of the base of the TV. the right one has wires going to a processor that does - nothing. the left bank is empty - but all the indentations for a processor board. NO IR sensor found! (so no remote will ever work on it). I think the TV is a rush job - half built, then shipped out! stay away!

Other Thoughts: the other Changhong product is a 40 in LCD 1080p TV worked fine for 1 yr. before dying during a power surge. bottom line: if the TV works fine, you got lucky, but don't expect any hope of reaching customer service or tech support if there are any problems. the 1 yr warranty is worthless - impossible to get support to answer to actually honor the warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsDo NOT BUY

This review is from: Changhong 49" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD49YC5500UA

Pros: Cheap TV

Cons: We have ordered about 4-5 of these over 6 months. They get delivered broken or only work for a few months.

Can't get a hold of tech or warranty support. Seems like company is hiding from people or its closed!

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. Don't go with "no name" brand tv's it just isn't worth the headache!

3 out of 5 eggsHorrible Picture Quality

This review is from: Changhong 49" Class Ultra HD LED TV - UD49YC5500UA

Pros: Price, $379 on sale. 4k resolution.

Cons: Horrible Color. No working remote codes for Comcast remotes. Below average sound. Big video delay, delay correctable if using sound through the set but uncorrectable if using receiver to overcome the below average sound. Greyish areas on all 4 corners on very dark scenes. Takes forever to change hdmi inputs.

Other Thoughts: Needed a TV I could afford when the Sanyo 55" I got for some work I did died. This was in my price range at the time. Going to ditch this set on craigslist as soon as I find a replacement I can afford. I would highly suggest looking elsewhere. Not sure what TV people were looking at that gave good reviews, but it's not the one I bought.
