Learn more about Induction Cooktop

Induction Cooktop

Micro-Induction Cooktop provides the best in cooktop performance, safety and efficiency. Induction heats as electricity flows through a coil to produce a magnetic field under the ceramic plate. When a ferromagnetic cookware is placed on the ceramic surface, currents are induced in the cookware and instant heat is generated due to the resistance of the pan. Heat is generated to the pan only and no heat is lost. As there are no open flames, inductions are safer to use than conventional burners. Once cookware is removed, all molecular activity ceases and heating is stopped immediately.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Less expensive than the last supentown I bought. Does what it's supposed to do.

Cons: Does have good range of adjustable power settings. However, the last supentown model I bought & used for about 2 years is no longer made. It had
better adjustable power settings IMO. This one comes with a paper note that mentions the lower few power settings cycle on & off the induction coil. So if your sauteing mushrooms & you just turned the power down. The butter will bubble on & off as the coil goes on & off. The last one that cost about $160, did not do that. The quality of construction seems about the same. I think for the price it is great. I can probably get used to the lower setting power cycling.

Other Thoughts: Boils water just as fast as the previous one I had & it has a lockout feature. You can't just press power to turn it on. Press the lock button first, then power. This maybe a great saftey feature if animals or little kids got ahold of it I suppose.

5 out of 5 eggsSupentown SR-964TS 1300W Induction Cooktop

Pros: Many power settings available which are needed to properly cook.
Starts cooking very fast, great when you are cooking breakfast, the unit is very responsive to power changes like a gas stove.
No problems with slightly warped cookware unlike an electric stove.
Easy to clean up, the top of the unit cools down quickly and because it doesn't get red hot the food does not stick hard to the surface..
Light so you can easily move it to where it's needed.

Cons: So far I see no negatives, but there are a couple of things that you need to keep in mind;

1. As any induction you need to use the proper cookware made with steel or iron bottom.
2. The top is made of ceramic so you can't drop anything heavy on it or it will break.

Other Thoughts: I love this unit, it has so many power settings, which is very important in cooking correctly, some other units start with very high power as a minimum.

Right now I'm getting to know the unit and find the settings for various cooking items, and I'm finding that compared to an electric stove it much easier to find the right temperature since the unit responds quickly to a change in settings like a gas stove does.

I seen in other similar items revies people complaining of squealing noises at low power, this unit is quiet and you can't hear a thing other than the cooling fan.

So far all my food is coming out great compare to my electric stove so I'm very happy with the results.

I've ordered a second unit so I can stop using my regular electric stove until I can save enough money to buy a full size induction stove to replace the old electric stove. I would highly recommend this unit.
