3 out of 5 eggsGood, but...CAREFUL!

Pros: The heater itself works well and is sturdy enough. Thermostat seems to regulate it well. Heat is applied silently (but SEE CONS). Overall, it's a good product. Even the "on sale price" @ Newegg is high enough that the problems noted are inappropriate.

Cons: The timer basically WORE OUT on mine, so it sounds like something's GRINDING inside, but there's nothing you can do about it! I just have to live w/ this "gnawing sound" in my bedroom WHENEVER ITS ON!

Other Thoughts: At this price point (even on "sale"), a "grinding" timer is unacceptable. Consider buying one without a timer, then, if you need one, just use a separate one to avoid all the headaches and extra expense of the built-in, poor-quality timer.

5 out of 5 eggsBy far the best heater I have dealt with.

Pros: Very good heater. It does an excellent job at heating my medium sized room and I am one of those guys who like it hot as opposed to just warm. The heater itself is very compact and not as heavy as I thought it will be. The thing that you can program it to start and stop heating at any time you want is a very nice feature. All in all an excellent heater.

Cons: None detected.

Other Thoughts: It arrived home without any dent or scratch in its painting. I was hoping for it---but you never know, given the rough handling along the way.

Some people complain about the smell of coating it makes while heating. Well indeed, when you turn it on the first time you have to let it work in a ventilated room at max power for a day to get rid of any smell. But it wasn't too strong, I could have resisted it.
But there is something you have to pay attention to. When you unwrap it the first time MAKE SURE THERE AREN'T ANY POLYSTYRENE FRAGMENTS FROM THE ENCHASING BETWEEN THE RADIATOR BARS. Because if there are any, when it'll get hot those pieces will melt and start making a terrible smell. However the manufacturer warns you to pay attention to it in the instructions manual. You just have to read it.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid heater

Pros: - Completely silent (except for a clicking noise when the thermostat turns the heater on/off)
- Easily keeps a 700 sq ft apartment warm if the external temperature is 35-40 (even though the sticker says it maxes out at 144 sq ft?!)
- Forced-air heaters blow up dust and supposedly make the air dry. Not a problem with a radiator like this. May help with allergies, dry skin, etc.

Cons: - The analog knobs and dials are functional, but it seems like it would be easier to use if it was more modern, i.e., LCD screen and some buttons. Definitely seems like it's from the 80s.
- Makes the thermostat clicking noise a little too often. If it were more sophisticated it would choose the appropriate power level, not just cycle between on and off.
- Build quality isn't perfect. The slats on the sides aren't perfectly even. Not a big deal to me.
- Mild "new appliance" metal/paint smell which seems to be fading. Your mileage may vary though since many people seem to have big problems with the smell, sometimes for weeks. (Although based on a different review, this may be due to an oil leak with some units.)

Other Thoughts: I should have bought one of these to heat my apartment years ago instead of putting up with the forced-air units in my walls. If nothing else, it's quiet. Obviously you shouldn't buy one of these if you want directional/immediate heat, like at a workbench or something. But for me it's perfect.

4 out of 5 eggsgood.

Pros: Heater does what it says. heats a room like any other heater with the ability to set the times to auto turn on or off.

Cons: came damaged from delivery however newegg let me return it for a new one with no cost to me or trouble. Just the headache of getting a bad part and waiting for the good one to come.
