5 out of 5 eggsBest breadmaker!

Pros: Before my wife got home I already had the first loaf going. She said she would not eat any of that as she was sure that something would go wrong (lets say I don't have much in common with Betty Crocker). When all was said and done, she had to beg me to try a piece - perfect results. For first try I was not expecting this type of a result, I can hardly wait to try other variations.

Cons: Not really a con, but don't forget to put the mixing blades in before the ingredients. Hope that only happens once. :)

Other Thoughts: For those that say only use the light crust setting, I prefer medium (which is more like bread made in Europe). I can hardly wait to try other variations. Wait for a sale. Usually they mark these down every so often. For those that do not like their bread on the sweet side, adjustments are easy enough, we only use 1 tbsp instead of the 3.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Breadmaker

Pros: Very nice breadmaker. Horizontal loafage. Honorable Zojirushiness.

Cons: Dishwashers administer appx. half a can of whoop-rass per load cycle to the surface coating (and possibly the blade mechanism) of the pan. As should be obvious, two runs through a dishwasher exposes the pan to the equivalent of a whole can, which, it should be understood, is sufficient whoop-rass to level a small child or compress 2-3 additional clowns into a subcompact car already at maximum clown occupancy. Needless to say, <redacted due to needlessness>.

Other Thoughts: This breadmaker has been reviewed by individuals of varying ability. At least one ("ConcernedConsumer") has included in his/her review some of the most ridiculous and unwarranted alarmist nonsense yet discovered in a NewAig review.
The aforementioned reviewer gave voice to his/her unfounded fears and suspicions regarding the health risks associated with the pan's PTFE (Teflon) coating. In fact, there is NOTHING even remotely dangerous about PTFE when used below 500 degrees F. Human beings could safely eat the entire coating if it were separated from the pan because nothing in the human body is capable of breaking it down chemically. Even IF it were heated past 500F, the resulting polymer fumes are truly dangerous only to very small animals such as birds and, occasionally, homunculuses/homunculi. Some plastics do outgas trace level toxins at normal-use temperatures, but PTFE does not. It is so useful and safe precisely because it is so stable and non-reactive.

2 out of 5 eggsOk machine, but not worth it

Pros: Sturdy, seems to have a strong motor

Cons: Manual intervention always required if you don't want alien looking wart bread

Price for performance, not worth the money

Other Thoughts: At this price point, you would expect a fire and forget machine. Unfortunately my experience thus far has not been that.

Mixes well and strong, but during rising, if the dough isn't handled manually to better kneed and distribute the dough in the pan, you end up with a lop-sided wart log.

With all the positive reviews, you'd think this was a slam dunk.......to do it again, I'd try the Panasonic, but the wife wanted the jam function so we did this one instead for the jam and for the fact it was best in breed.....wouldn't buy it again given the choice

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: mmmmmm... homemade bread! Works good and I was really surprised how well it kneaded the dough. Bread is always evenly mixed with no flour spots in loaf.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Hoping that is stands up to the rough beating it gives the dough.

3 out of 5 eggsZojirushi bread machine

Pros: Highest rated most versatile machine out there
Makes horizontal loaf

Cons: Very sensitive to amounts of liquids and type of yeast used. Failed after only a few months of use. I had to pay for return shipping to service center....very expensive. An overrated machine.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had not bought it...very disappointing machine

5 out of 5 eggsWow.

Pros: Solid construction and attractive. All parts included. Works exactly as advertised. Produces excellent product. Instructions and recipes included. Simple to use. Ridiculously easy cleanup.

Cons: The instructions could be a little better, especially where the kneading blades were concerned. I was worried when they didn't "lock" into place, and the instructions led me to believe that they should be secure. Well, evidently they don't exactly lock down. Potentially I could have damaged my unit pushing down so hard.

Also, the recipes aren't exactly for the complete noob (like me). I did use the internet to look up a couple things on baking. Y'all would laugh if I told you what they were. Like, was it okay to melt/soften the butter! Har har!

Other Thoughts: I trusted the reviews I found here on Newegg to guide my purchase. I'm glad I did. I took the maker out of the box, rinsed the pan, followed the instructions, pushed two buttons - WHAMMO! Perfect loaf of bread.

I can make buttermilk biscuits from scratch in a cast iron skillet, corn bread, too. But this was the first time I ever tried bread in a loaf. I was shocked. I had no faith that my first loaf would turn out perfect, but it did. Beginners luck?

Again, I followed the directions and recipe to the letter. The top of my loaf was perfectly level and smooth. I'm eating PB&J with homemade bread even as I write this. Dang, this keyboard is sticky.

5 out of 5 eggsYou've got your crust

Pros: Great control and great results. I don't know why a standard horizontal loaf is so much more appealing than a vertical loaf-- but it is.

After some tinkering I got this to make an excellent 100% whole wheat loaf, something I've never been able to do with any other breadmaker.

Cons: The recipes in the accompanying manual seem to be off. If I use the prescribed amount of water, the dough does not form well. I find I have to use 150% of the water called for to get good results. I wonder if it is due to the extreme arid conditions in Boston? Er, probably not.

3 out of 5 eggsGood bread maker

Pros: Heavy duty; rock solid; makes big loaves

Cons: Still trying to figure this out, but it seems to make lopsided bread no matter what I try (not terribly lopsided, but more than I would have expected.) The paddles that are inside the bread pan are hard to clean.
