5 out of 5 eggsAmazing budget Espresso machine

Pros: This machine is simply amazing for the price. Buy it!

I actually look forward to waking up to use this beast to jumpstart my day.

Cons: I bought 1 instead of 3.

Shipping label slapped on the OEM box, not a newegg box. Minor gripe, was shipped with zero flaws/damages so I don't mind.

Other Thoughts: I was in the market for a budget espresso/capppucino maker and bought this one on sale. I am honestly very impressed. I am not a coffee snob, but had always drank normal drip coffee and wanted to get an espresso maker for a long time. This was the right price, and I couldn't be happier.

It is a compact little unit, so I do understand the other reviews not liking how short the froth spout is, but I have no problems using it and thats the cost of it being so compact and inexpensive at the same time.

My girlfriend liked it so much I wanted to buy 2 more, one for her and one to gift (since it was so cheap), but sadly it was back to $50 as the sale had ended.

If you're not picky and on a budget, this is your machine! I'm not sure I'd pay the $50 for it if on a tight budget, but I'm glad I bought it.

2 out of 5 eggsDeLonghi EC5

Pros: price

Cons: not user friendly, cant stop brewing process

Other Thoughts: Save yourself some frustration and get a pump-driven machine not a steam-driven as this is. The problem is that it continues to brew until all the water is used up. You have to froth the milk as it brews you can't brew a cup and froth later. By later I mean you can't turn your back to answer the door or phone or say hello to someone.... you get my drift. It takes a few tries to get the hang of it. It's cheap and it works but it's not very user friendly. The parts are flimsy but you get what you pay for so I won't complain about that. I don't like the fact that you cant stop the brewing process unless it runs out of water.

1 out of 5 eggssteam and drip all at once -- garbage

Pros: none.

Cons: this piece of garbage should not be even given for free.

you cannot control the steam. you cannot pressurize without having the coffee dripping. it takes x5 times more coffee for a single espresso than any other machine.
the steam and the coffee drip all go at once in the same time.. it is like a device that is leaking from everywhere.

Other Thoughts: plastic garbage that causes pollution to the planet... I had to throw it in recycle bin.

I wonder all these positive reviews! Did anyone tried a real espresso machine before?

1 out of 5 eggsPoor Quality

Pros: accesories

Cons: Cheap plastic body was broken upon opening!

Other Thoughts: Terrible design and cheap plastic body. I thought DeLonghi was a good brand until now. Now I either ship it back and pay for shipping or just keep it. I am so disappointed since I didn't get what I paid for. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!

5 out of 5 eggsTastes good to me

Pros: Not too large, easy to store. I just made the best espresso I have had with fresh ground S-bucks Italian. I sent clean water through 4 times before the coffee. I don't froth milk much, so I'll deal with the noted inconveniences when I decide to use this feature. I'm really going to be buzzed today because I can't stop drinking the whole 4 cups. I'd better cut back on the bean as another reviewer suggested. I have used Aero press for years, and it makes good coffee, but this unit makes *really* good espresso by my standards.

Cons: Came in the manufacturers box only, not even taped shut, but in perfect condition.

Other Thoughts: For occasional espresso use and the sale price, I don't see how this can be beat if you aren't fussy about espresso/cappuccino rituals and technology. My first cup is one of the best coffees I have ever had, and I have been grinding and brewing for decades. Next frontier: a bean roaster and a MoccaMaster. (or skip the machines and just start buying Stumptown.)

1 out of 5 eggsA design disaster overpriced at $20!

Pros: Cheap. Heats water to operating temperature quickly.

Cons: This unit requires that there be hot water flowing through the espresso before steam can be directed through the foaming wand. There is no option to have just steam with no espresso being made. To make bad matters worse, there must be ground coffee in the espresso holder to provide resistance - and thereby force steam through the wand. So, in order to foam the milk, you must let your espresso be ruined OR put a new cup under the espresso holder to catch the new, undrinkable stuff that will be flowing. Finally - the espresso the machine makes is inferior.

Other Thoughts: Makes a mess of your counter. Entire machine must be rinsed after each use.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Working

Pros: The item arrived in less than 2 days.

Cons: The instruction is difficult to follow since it's mentioning another model. The machine is not user-friendly. Try many time and still not successful making a good esspresso due to low pressure. Unable to make steamed & foamed milk with the steam wand.

Other Thoughts: A regular coffee press makes better coffee drink than this item.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: This machine is a great product for the price. It's easy to use especially if you just want an espresso. I dont understand such bad reviews for the price. Of course a 200$ machine is going to be easier and nicer but for 40$.

Cons: It's a small area to steam milk and you can only steam milk for 1 cappuccino.

1 out of 5 eggsjunk -- DeLonghi should not put their name on this thing

Pros: DeLonghi should never put their name on such a useless ugly piece of junk. I own a DeLonghi that I used for years, it is compact and sturdy with 15 bar pressure. This thing is just the worst thing I have ever seen. I wanted to try it, but then gave up, and I could not look at it. I could not even give it as a gift. it is just a horrible machine.

Cons: 1- Take x3 times more coffee than a regular DeLonghi machine
2- You need to be a real jongler to make a cup of coffee with steamed milk
3- Barbie plasticy style of a big useless kitchen accessory

Other Thoughts: This thing can be anything but not an espressor maker.

Be ready to spend lot of money on coffee as this thing will eat up 1 pound of coffee for 6 cup of badly made espresso.

Look at the DeLonghi in the $185 price range, that is a good average machine.
