4 out of 5 eggsNoisy but effective!

Pros: Handy foil cutter.
Powerful enough to remove even very tight corks.
Doesn't need recharging too often.

Cons: Noisy in use.
Also, did I mention it's noisy?

Other Thoughts: This thing works so well for opening bottles of wine that we keep using it in spite of the annoying sound of its electric motor. Still working after a year of use. You can open a couple of dozen bottles before it begins to slow down, then it's time to recharge.

1 out of 5 eggsOne hit wonder

Pros: It was cheep and looked nice.

Cons: It literally worked once. That was it. I tried to replace the batteries (I was finally able to once I carved out some of the exess plastic in the battery compartment) and that did not solve the problem. All the torque was gone.

Other Thoughts: It was only $10, so not worth returning. I would advise against purchasing this item. Spen the extra $20 and get a functioning one somewhere else. I should have known better. Newegg is great for computers, not so much for wine.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: It does what it was designed to do. Looks good. Fast cork removal.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I am happy that this product works. What I do not like is the fact when an item is DOA the seller should cover the costs of return shipment. It needs to be the sellers responsibility that the product one purchases works correctly. Maybe consumers could join together an petition law makers to design a bill for congress requiring more seller accountability. There is much junk sold on the Internet. If you don't believe it, read all the poor reviews of products.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Way better than opening a bottle of wine by the old fashion way. This is the best thing I have ever bought for drinking wine.

Cons: The charging light never goes on, therefore, becomes a nightlite. Seems to strugle when drilling into the cork, opener slows down a lot, but doesn't lose it's charge.

Other Thoughts: If your tired of hand openers for bottles of wine, time to invest in an electric wine opener.

3 out of 5 eggsOk, not great

Pros: Simple, Interesting look, cheap

Cons: SLOW... Charging light always stays on, feels cheap

Other Thoughts: We bought this to replace a much more expensive wine opener that finally died after 3 years of weekly use. This will probably end up as a short term solution as it feels cheap, although it does seem to work reliably, just very slowly. It takes about 20-40 seconds to open a bottle after you have cut the foil. My other concern besides the speed is that the charging light is always on when on the base unit. A small red light on the base and a large light on top of the unit stay on whenever it is plugged into power. I wish we could turn off the top light as it is very distracting.

All in all not a bad unit, but if you want something that feels high end and actually opens bottles with some speed save your money and buy a much higher end unit. But for the price point it is comparable to others...

2 out of 5 eggsWorks Great (for a while)

Pros: When new it looks and works great. Easy to use.

Cons: We have had two of them and both of them have failed (failed to hold a charge or will not charge??) after about 4 to 6 months. We know someone else who has one and had the same failure at about the sale period of time.

Other Thoughts: Looks like a "designed in America but unfortunatly Made in China" product. Great idea but cheaply made.

1 out of 5 eggsIt Looks Good

Pros: Looks cool and actually opens bottles.............for a while.

Cons: Electrical contacts break easily, battery is inferior...does not hold a charge. Poor design.

Other Thoughts: I am on my 5th wine opener. They have all broken at the same point. When placing the opener in the charger the electrical contacts break. The battery is circa 1970 rechargeable. It holds a charge for perhaps 12 hours. If you intend to use this product it must remain plugged in 24/7. Why have I purchased so many? It is helpful and is a conversation piece......when it functions. Kind of like the space shuttle.
