This review is from: Waring Pro TCO650 Digital Convection Toaster Oven
Pros: 1. Very elegant/professional look. 2. Not as big as other 6-slice toaster ovens but this can also go as CONS who needs more internal volume. For my use, it is very good size as it fits under the cabinets with few inches extra space. 3. No toxic non-stick coating inside. 4. The extra middle round back fits 12" pizza perfectly. 5. Convection fan is not noisy unless the whole house is quiet at night. 6. I really like the controls. It has preset functon buttons and the rotary knob is perfect for setting time and heat. 7. Door looks pretty strong unlike flimsy ones in cheaper toaster ovens. 8. Beep is good. It's little louder and high pitched than my over the range microwave. I sometimes heat food in my microwave and forget when watching TV at normal/low volume as I don't hear chirping microwave beep. This oven beeps pretty decent but nowhere ear piercing. This is good because I can hear it while watching movies or in another room.
Cons: (Being picky here and more as informational): 1. Not as big as other 6-slice toaster ovens but this can also go as PROS. 2. Only one rack. It'd be great to have 2 for smaller things. 3. Beep but only for those with babies/pets that are too sensitive. 4. No memory settings. I don't care but for someone who always have to use non-default toast etc... settings, need to press few more buttons each time. 5. Provided baking pan is not deep for thicker food like drumsticks etc... so need something else but most aftermarket pans come with non-stick coating... 6. Also, the baking pan easily gets scratched by the rack specially if the rack is upside down and when trying to slide the pan on it's railings. 7. The rack has to be perfectly aligned horizontal to slide in and out easily otherwise, you have to wiggle it in. 7. I'm being picky here but the door is slightly mis-aligned. It's only a few mm and does not affect anything but if you are really picky, you can see it very slightly tilted but doesn't keep door too ajar or anything. Too minor to even complain but just my observation. For most online purchases, I don't return the item if it has minor blemishes as it's a lot of work for retailers to return, re-send another one etc... too much money wasted as well so if I can live with few minor issues, I do it.
Other Thoughts: I 1st of all, I reserved 1 star for future durability and will update sometimes in the future.
I didn't buy from Newegg as it was little pricey here. This is my 1st coutertop toaster oven but pretty familiar with toaster ovens at friends/relatives places.
My huge oven was unused for years by previous owner and it has rust in few places plus it takes a lot of time to heat that thing up before baking anything. It's primarily being used as storage for now.
Instead of replacing the whole range, I started looking for countertop. I did a ton of research, went to several local stores etc... looking for a good oven at good price. The el cheapo Black and Decker 4-toast versions and other generic brands that some of my friends have look so flimsy that I was afraid the door will come off just by opening it. Bigger 6-toast version of B&D was so big that it won't fit under the cabinets and looked really ugly. I went to Kohls when they had Cuisinart TOB-40 on sale for around $69 and was cute and perfect little size but the reviews at was mixed plus didn't fit a 12" pizza. A lot of people liked it but quite few hated it.
Same with Hamilton Beach for $35 that looked similar to cuisinart with stainless steel design, great price but not so great reviews. Also, I really wanted something that fits a 12" pizza but almost all I checked were huge. None of the small/medium 4-6 slice toaster oven didn't fit a 12" pizza.
Then on top of that, I found new thing reading all the reviews: non-stick coating that gives out harmful/toxic gas/particulates when heated. So that was another thing to consider even if there is debate on that, better be safe.
When I finally decided on Waring Pro TCO650, there was only one 1-star review and few low star ratings that were by someone with overly sensitive ears (no offense) thinking the beep was ear-piercing and no idea about how touch/button controls work. It's loud but nowhere ear piercing and perfect volume to remind I have something in oven when watching TV.
We've tried toast in default setting and it came out great. However, need some learning on the time/heat settings. I roasted almonds at 400 degrees for 5 minutes and it was little over done. I changed to 325 degrees and 5 minutes is perfect but cashew nuts completely blackened so depending upon food, need to adjust time/heat. Also, a 12" self-rising pizza was baked perfectly. Then we tried some chicken pieces on the provided pan and worked great.
We haven't roasted a chicken or baked cake yet but planning on soon. That brings another topic of what to use. From my research, I don't suggest using cheap non-stick baking/roasting pans. Either use cast iron or at least hard anodized non-stick ones. I don't like NON hard anodized cook/bakewares as the coating starts to peel off pretty soon. Hard anodized ones like Anolon, Circulon etc... are much better.
So far it's not heavily used (not a whole lot of people in f
