Pros: - ice cream.. YUM!! :) what else can you say!??!

-simple as can be just mix up your flavors and turn the switch to on.. 25 minutes later you have taste homemade icecream.

-people complain it was loud?? HUH? I must be going deaf.. this thing is not annonying at all. besides, it's making ice cream!! :)

Cons: none yet.

Pros: It's got an on/off button. That's it. Pretty easy. I read all of the reviews (also those on other sites) before I bought it.
1. People said "its loud but not louder than my washer/dishwasher. TRUE.
2. People said "its runny" and "you're not freezing it long enough if its runny". TRUE. The first time I made ice cream I had had the bowl in my regular freezer/fridge in the house. It was a bit runnier than your avg commercially made stuff. The second time I made it, I had had the bowl in my big 32sqft dedicated freezer and the consistency was EXACTLY that of commercial ice cream. Lesson: the colder you can keep the bowl, the better the consistency.
3. People said "the recipes in the book were no good" FALSE. Use good ingredients, follow the recipe exactly, keep everything as cold as possible and you will LOVE this machine.
I adore the simple construction, the look of it on my counter, its ease of use, and the price combined with the reviews cannot be beat.

Cons: I wish they offered a combination with an extra bowl when I purchased it because you have to let the bowl thaw before you can wash & reuse it. Even that really isn't a con, just a spoiled gripe!

Other Thoughts: If you're reading this review, you're like me and you want to trust in the advice of actual owners and users of this product, so trust this: if you want an automatic 2qt ice cream maker, buy this. I've never made ice cream with a machine before and even I felt like a pro! PLUS - the price savings will make any sport shopper proud!

Pros: No ice, no rock salt, easiest way to make homemade ice cream w/o paying big bucks for a compressor-type freezer. Makes perfect amount to sample some when it's first done and then to freeze hard for a 3-4 person dessert later.

Cons: You pretty much have to keep it in the freezer; the insert must be frozen SOLID or it will not work. I tried it once after an 6 hour freeze and just got mush.

Other Thoughts: Been using alton brown's recipes, subbing xylitol for sugar and getting great results. This is the answer if you need/want sugar free ice cream, as you can make a high butterfat frozen custard type dessert that is better than anything you will ever find in a store (either with or without sugar).

Pros: This is a good ice cream maker. Don't use their recipies, use Alton Brown's. We've made one batch so far; and are mid batch with a second; using his recipies. It's actually better than the store bought.

That being said, you have to do a few things.
1. Accept that it's as loud as a dish washer, but fine in my NYC apartment. My neighbors don't complain.
2. put the bucket in the freezer over night. (The manual suggest this, and even keeping it in your freezer)
3. After you make the mix, you need to cool it to below 40 degrees F. This will take 4-8 hours. Also, you need to make sure your fridge is set to a temp below 40. Buy a $2 thermometer for your fridge.
4. after you run the thing for 25 mins or so, you will get soft serve. Put it in the freezer for a few hours, and it will be standard hard ice cream.

We followed those rules, and it worked great.

Cons: It's loud.

Pros: Very convenient and makes a good product, took me a few batches to make some good ice cream but I also never really follow recipes as I like to add my own touch.

Cons: Very loud as said by others. I underestimated how loud this machine would be despite other reviews saying the same thing. I thought they were just over exaggerating but it is in fact VERY loud. It is louder then my 14 cup commercial food processor. I would compare it to turning over an old car. It is like that for the 25 min. duration.

Other Thoughts: We just leave it running in the kitchen obviously so the noise does not really bother us. Just do not try to have a conversation in the same room because that is just not going to happen. People seem to have a hard time with the process of using this machine so I will spell it out.

1. Put the inner tub that the ice cream actually goes into in the freezer. The freezer needs to be on a cold setting as I found that the standard setting was not cold enough.

2. Create your recipe and put it into the fridge not freezer for a good few hours till it has lost ALL of its heat.

3. Put the pre frozen bown into the machine and add your mix.

4. Run it for 25 minutes, no longer as it starts to lose its chill and you get diminishing returns after that.

5. Put your soft ice cream into the freezer for about an hour. and voila wonderful homemade ice cream.

Pros: Put quite simply - this thing works. You freeze the bowl (for a day or so), mix some ingredients, pour them in, turn it on, and wah-lah - ice cream, sorbet, gelato, etc.

Cons: The recipes that this comes with involve lots of heavy cream. Consider buying a sorbet or gelato book to get some lighter recipes.

Other Thoughts: I think the people who have problems with this (and any other model) are not taking the time to properly freeze the bowl and keep ingredients cool. Some recipes I've read call for mixing ingredients over heat. If you pour those into the freezer bowl, of course you aren't going to get thick ice cream.

And I can't stress enough - freeze the bowl for a day or more. After you use it and clean it, stick it back in your freezer that way it's always ready.

My wife and I have made about 4-6 batches and everyone has been great.

Pros: Easy to use and easy to clean.

Cons: It is rather noisy, but it only takes 25 minuets.

Other Thoughts: I've been using this model for several years now and have made dozens of batches for events at my house and as a general replacement for my old hometown's ice cream shop.

I recommend to freeze the freezer bowl overnight as well as refrigerate the ice cream mixture for several hours before putting mixture into ice cream maker. that way it freezes the fastest and has the smoothest texture.

The recipes i tried in the booklet that it comes with aren't that great. I use Alton Brown's recipe from the food network.

Buy it and amaze your friends.

Other Thoughts: I think the other reviewer must not have read or understood the directions. You must freeze the "bowl" for at least 4-6 hours before putting the mixture in it. If you want REALLY hard ice cream you will have to transfer the ice cream to an air tight plastic container and put that it the freezer.

Pros: Nice appearance; sturdily made

Cons: In order to make ice cream, you basically have to freeze the mixture in a regular food freezer (or nearly so) before placing in the unit, otherwise the ice cream mixture will not freeze. The part that holds the ice is just not large enough to hold enough frozen liquid to freeze room-temperature mixtures. The mixture melts the ice and you end up with a semi-cold fluid ice cream mixture because the mixture melts the ice before it freezes. Under ideal conditions (ice cream mixture on the verge of freezing prior to putting in unit) you end up with a VERY soft ice cream which you have to stick back in a food freezer, otherwise it becomes liquid again almost immediately.

Other Thoughts: Pass this unit up.
