3 out of 5 eggsCuisinart EM-100 Mediocre

Pros: Makes a genuinely decent cup of espresso

Cons: Malfunctions fast. Steam wand never worked properly, only spits out hot water. Cuisinart support is insultingly poor. I bought mine around Christmas time, and am still getting the run around. This is the only time I've taken the time to write a negative review, and it is due to their customer support more than anything else. Seriously though, it does make a decent cup of espresso. I've had 3 machines previous.

Other Thoughts: Expect to havce to RMA / Return to manufacturer / get run around from Cuisinart.

Pros: xx

Cons: xx

Other Thoughts: I read all the reviews before buying, so I knew this thing could be "picky" and knew what I was getting into in terms of keeping it scrupulously clean. I admit I did think to myself that maybe some of the negative reviewers were impatient or lacking in needed attention to detail. Then I found out. My Cuisinart EM-100 did make exactly three cups of fabulous espresso.... before it began to malfunction. The water, under pressure, began leaking out at the top of the portafilter holder (where I had very carefully and with difficulty cleaned away the clinging grounds after each use). That meant the water went into the cup - or outside it - without passing through the coffee grounds. I could not find any reason such as the single serving basket I was using having somehow become warped, etc. I had used coffee from the same bag of carefully-chosen coarser espresso grind for all my uses. And had been very careful not to tamp hard.

If you like to waste your time, buy a Cuisinart product. Not o

5 out of 5 eggsI love it!

Pros: Makes great espresso with crema, steams milk and looks great on my counter top! Holds plenty of water for one or two cups and cleans up easily. After a few tries, anyone can make cafe quality coffee drinks at home. This unit will quickly pay for itself!

Cons: None, this is a great product! There are more expensive machines on the market but this one works great for me.

Other Thoughts: My unit arrived with a small crack in the water tank so I had to return it. Newegg quickly helped me and handled my return at no charge to me! I was very satisfied and would recommend Newegg and the Cuisinart EM-100 Espresso Maker to my friends.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Machine

Pros: Easy to use and clean. Makes great coffee drinks. Large water reservoir so you don't have to refill everyday. Dishwasher safe parts which make clean up easy.

Cons: I had the machine about a year and six months and it started leaking steam around the steamer stem. It looks like it's getting water inside the main part of the unit, so I don't expect it to last much longer.

Other Thoughts: For the money it saved me by not going to starbucks, it was worth it. It lasted 1.5 years under very heavy usage.

5 out of 5 eggsGood espresso

Pros: Takes a few tries to figure out the nuances of this machine but once you do the pours are good. Definitely replaces the cost of Starbucks and for less (depending on how often you go) Clean up is a cinch. Wondering about the filters though... grounds could easily be stuck there.

Cons: None yet.
