SHARP AF-S80RX 8,000 Cooling Capacity (BTU) Window Air Conditioner

Pros: Cools very well, I have all sharp ac's and they all go over 10 years working well.

Worked as advertised, cooled the room off in less then a half hour in 80 plus degree weather. Good options.

Cons: First AC came damaged by UPS or Newegg, box was cracked, AC had dents. Had to replace it. Second one was fine. 1 egg off for that.

Pros: Good cold air flow. Cooling my room very fast.

Cons: This unit is too noisy even on low fan speed.
Most likely, I will keep it until the end of season, and then it will find its place in garbage.
I was expected better than that from SHARP.

Pros: Cools bedroom that is sun soaked well.

Cons: A tad noisy on hi fan.

Pros: Takes the edge off a humid room very well, even on "low" & energy saving mode. The remote makes it very easy to set the timer to shut off after a few hours.

Cons: Everyone says it's very quiet. I'm not so sure about that. Mine is pretty quiet but nothing to write home about. It buzzes a little bit when getting started, but overall it's not loud.

Other Thoughts: IMO, Sharp makes some great products. I'd buy another if I needed one.

Pros: it was 98 degrees outside, our old air conditioner on high max cold kept our bedroom at an uncomfortable 83 degrees. I put this nice Sharp unit in and within a couple hours on low settings it had our bedroom down to 70 degrees. I love that it only weighs 57 pounds, I credit that to the good use of styrofoam in the construction. You can't hear the compressor kick on and off and it doesn't make the lights dim like the old one. I read the other reviews and I have to say I don't have any problem with my installation, it went right in, everything sealed up tight, and as far as the noise, I have to have noise to sleep, it's very quiet on low, but on high it's not too loud. I love this AC unit, it cools all the way down to 60 degrees, and 10.8 EER electrical efficiency rating, average cost to run this thing for a year is $59.00. This unit's all aces in my book

Cons: *Gaps in the accordion part to fill the window *Cheap Styrofoam structure

Other Thoughts: For a top rated consumer reports unit, I was expecting better construction. The duct from the cooling unit blowing into the house is made of only styrofoam. You can see the daylight through it as it is fairly thin. The gaps on the side leak air too. I sealed the unit from the outside with some duct tape.

Pros: Easy to install and easy to operate. Works ok for a large room.

Cons: Fan at highest speed is kind of loud, so only use low speed at all time.
