Pros: It is quiet and I believe it would work well, but.....

Cons: The unit does not include an intake tube so it cools itself with the air inside your house, and then exhausts outside. Therefore, if you have drafty windows, it pulls in the hot outside air in a negative pressure type situation when it is drawing from your house's cool air to cool the exhaust coils. This causes the unit to have to cool the hot air that it is pulling in from the outside. I am not sure if I am explaining it correctly, but in all, my cooling bills were astronomically high. The unit absolutely needs to have both intake and exhaust tubes.

Pros: Looks nice, has multiple modes (fan, exhaust, dehumidify, A/C, ions), multifunction remote control with LCD, automatic louvers, 120V operation, wheels allow it to be rolled around to multiple windows

Cons: Heavier than your typical 10,500 BTU window unit, louder than expected, compressor cycles frequently, shudders when compressor cycles on and off, big size, illogical hierarchy of functions on remote

Other Thoughts: The build quality of the A/C is decent, but the unit is larger than pictures make it appear. While the fan mode is really nice -- great white noise and decent air movement (and ions!) -- the moment the compressor turns on, you know it's an A/C unit. Seems to cool well, though the compressor cycles pretty often. And don't let the "library quiet" marketing tagline fool you -- it's not.

The window panels take some work to fit properly. Take your time with a blade and a square or you'll mis-cut and/or shatter them. But once they're in, they look fairly professional. I had to go buy white weatherstripping to match my windows as the dark grey weatherstripping that comes with the unit looks a bit amateur.

For the price premium of this unit, maybe the Sharp engineers could make a more solid enclosure to prevent the inherent vibration, and pulse (PWM) the compressor so that it's not as loud, especially when it turns on and off.

Pros: Cool and very quiet. Quieter than many 220 through the wall heat pumps. Great in small rooms. Handles 100% duty cycle. Impressed with all Sharp portable, "library quiet" units. They live up to their claims.

Cons: Does not replace a large room a.c. unit but nice in small quarters. Otherwise, no complaints.

Other Thoughts: These units are better than their competition and are well made. Worth the money if you're looking for a good, small unit.

Pros: Does the job for my small bedroom. It seems to make these efficient you need to insulate the exhaust hose and completely seal the window with heat blocking curtains because the exhaust heat tries to come back into the room defeating the purpose.

Cons: Small plastic vibrations when turning on and shutting off, could be because it was delivered in terrible condition. It appeared the box had been thrown from one end to the other before arriving, it was so bad the Styrofoam inside was broken in several pieces. If I had seen my delivery person I would have refused delivery...

Other Thoughts: Overall this is what I need because I have allergies and I cannot have outside air coming into my bedroom at night or I would wake up stuffy. If you don't have a reason like mine I would save the money and get a regular window unit because they work much better.

Pros: When it's on, it's good, and quiet, and user-friendly. The Plasmacluster Ion Generator is great- really clears the air up.

Cons: It isn't evaporating water well, and every few hours it stops working because its tiny water tank is full. The tank is not removable and it is a serious hassle for me to roll the thing to the bathroom and tub and try to let the water out. I need to figure out what small hose I can use to drain this thing more easily.

Other Thoughts: So close to perfect, if the water tank were easier to deal with I'd still be perfectly happy.

Pros: On low it's the quietest AC I have ever been around. Even on high it's still great.
Cools very well, and I use the dehumidifier function in the winter (it's in a basement studio/office - see other thoughts) which also works great.
Has good rollers on it, and handles on the sides, so it's MUCH easier to move than a window unit.
Although they don't give you the other hose, and attachments, you can set this up as a two-hose outside exhaust AND intake, so you're not blowing your cool air outside (and sucking warm outside air in somewhere else).

Cons: Only an on/off on the unit; the remote is needed for everything else.
If the water tank gets full, it does not come out, and has to be drained by the connection near the bottom of the unit; in other words you won't be able to get a pan under it unless you elevate it.

Other Thoughts: Since this is in a basement and the exhaust vent has to go up to the ceiling, I use a hose attached to the drain on the back to make sure it stays drained.
When using it as a dehumidifier in the winter, I detach the exhaust hose so the warm air helps heat the room, something of a bonus.

Pros: A lot of thought went into user-friendliness, from the box which opened up in a helpful way, to the easy to snap together window pieces, to the rather low volume of it. It's like soothing white noise.
I'm on a first floor front apartment with flat gated windows and I am finally comfortable! I had a standing fan on with this AC, and had to turn the fan off because I started to feel a little cold.
The timer functions are fantastic- I loved coming home to a cool apt.
I also like to set it to shut off after I'm asleep.

Cons: Outside of turning the AC on, everything else requires the remote.
Though admittedly if all I could do was turn it on and off I'd still be happy.
I had a cheaper portable AC a few years ago that was pretty much limited to that, and didn't do it that well.

Other Thoughts: Someone was really on the ball with this machine. It was really easy to get it up and running, and even my cat likes it. :D
I can't wait to see how the ion plasmaclusters freshen up the air, and I hope that as the weeks progress I'll remain happy with this handy machine.

Pros: Not a whole lot.

Cons: I purchased this to cool attic bedroom. If i keep it running all day and its 80 outside it only cools to 76 on high. I brought it to replace a 5,000 btu window unit that kept temp at 68. big mistake

Pros: Very, very easy installation. I have my left arm in a cast, and was still able to do this alone, in about 10 minutes. (always use lots of Duct tape with venting these portables). I love the "negative ion generator", it's like standing by a waterfall or something. Very fresh. The instructions are very user friendly, and very simple for us "low tech's". I am very pleased with this purchase, and the FAST shipping was amazing!

Cons: NONE!

Pros: Very quiet on low fan with ionization. Very cold on max AC. Very easy to set up. Window interface is nice, but be careful reading the instructions on how to attach the vent to the window plate. Overall, very nice, good design, effective cooling for a small area. Good for 400+ sq/ft.

Cons: I'd like it better if the remote lit up. It is heavy, 110 lbs, so don't try to lift up stairs by yourself unless you have a dolly. Requires a window (or cat door) to vent. Forcing the hose cone may break the plastic sides of the window plate. Requires the external venting rain guards so screen must be removed. Not a big deal, really.

Other Thoughts: Purchased at Costco. Using it to cool one room. Works incredibly well. Just remember to close the room vent if you have central heating.
