1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!!

Pros: CHEAP!

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this trash!!!!! Newegg stated this is a none-stick pot, but it stick like glue everytime I COOK, I have to put water inside over night and wait for the sticked rice to turn soft before i can wash it. It cooks very slow too. Well, cant blame anyone but myself, I brought it because of the price, not the quality. The non

1 out of 5 eggsFailed twice over

Pros: Stainless steel inner pot

Cons: Stopped working

Other Thoughts: I use Tatung's smaller rice cooker for the past two years and it works really well. Owing to this, i bought this larger cooker. First one stopped working within a week and Newegg replaced it. Basically it burnt the rice. Replacement cooker worked fine for three weeks or so. Now it wouldn't even switch on. It is not that I don't know how to use these cookers (as I use the other smaller Tatung to this day). I am not sure whether there is some design flaw or something.

5 out of 5 eggsTatung Rice Cooker

Pros: Very attractive, good feel for the metal interior bowl, good performance when used correctly.

Functionally this is a 5 star product in my eyes.
I got this for around 30 dollars, which for me is a great price for this level of rice cookery.

Cons: The directions provided are hard to understand, and some of the information is confusing and/or simply incorrect, depending on how you interpret it.

To clarify on Tatung's behalf: Plug in the Rice Cooker and put the warmer switch to 'On'. Wait for the orange 'Warm" indicator to be illuminated. Then add rice and water as indicated by the metal interior bowl. Finally close the lid and depress the 'Cook' switch, a red indicator will turn on. The rice will be cooked when the switch returned to its up state, this motion will be accompanied by an audible click, and the red indicator will turn off, the orange indicator will turn on, your rice is ready.

Other Thoughts: IMPORTANT: if you wash your rice before you cook it, use slightly less water than recommended, unless you prefer ultra sticky rice.

This is a solidly built rice cooker with a metallic interior bowl, this means the rice will stick to some degree almost without a doubt. If this bothers you, spend more, get something in the 60-100 dollar range, preferably Tiger or a higher end Tatung.

I use a Japanese Calrose rice, with more of an earthy tone that works spectacularly for my purposes. If you prefer a slightly more floral rice, my advice would be to be very aware of how much you wash the rice, and how much water you add when cooking.

So far a phenomenal product, albeit simple, and with a terrible set of directions.

1 out of 5 eggsnot recommended

Pros: Stainless Steel inner pot

Cons: Stopped working after 6 months.

Other Thoughts: HOW does a rice cooker fail after 6 months? It's just a heating element right? This Made in China pot manages to do so. I thought about steering away from expensive Made in Japanese pots but it looks like the Japanese are the only ones who can make long lasting rice cookers. I threw away my 15 year-old Japanese rice cooker too early, thinking this Tatung would last the same; I was so wrong.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent cooker for the money

Pros: Excellent cooker. I've ordered 2 and both work very well. The rice always turns out well even if you don't measure the water spot on.

No teflon on the bowl is definetly a plus since its toxic and scraps off in other rice cookers.

The bowl is very easy to clean

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I will definetly buy another one when they are on sale again.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware of just looks

Pros: Cooks rice like any other rice cooker.

Cons: Not too much thinking went into the design. Cooks fine, but keeping it clean will be a nightmare: First, the top doesn't seem to come off, and there is a "relief valve" for the steam, so some rice broth invariably gets out onto the top (and if you don't wipe it clean with a damp cloth right away, I don't know how you can keep it clean after it has dried). Right at the hinge of the top, there is also a removable plastic "cup" to catch the condensation dripping when the top is tilted up, so you have to remember to take care of that too - just imagine using the cooker a second time without emptying the cup. I also notice water may spill out and not every drop is caught by the cup.
The power cord is not the magnetic, "quick release" type found in the newer electric appliances, more like the kind you found in desktop computers which is quite difficult to "unplug". And you do have to unplug it because it does not automatically shut off, or you'll end up with burnt rice and a hell of a mess.

Other Thoughts: I bought the smaller capacity (6 cup) model, but I believe they all have the same design. If they want to make these cheap, why can't they just stick with the original Japanese "National" design? This is not an electric water kettle, which you don't have to clean every time you use it.

4 out of 5 eggsI love the stainless steel liner!

Pros: Stainless steel liner, no teflon flaking off into the food
Easy cleanup, liner looks new after every washing
Cooks rice consistently the same every time
Removable steam basket

Cons: stainless steel on outside of cooker seems "thin," ours arrived with a dent

Other Thoughts: There is a learning curve to making rice with the stainless steel liner as opposed to a non-stick liner. You need to use approximately 1 1/2 or up to 2 cups of water per cup of dry rice. We unplug the cooker as soon as the rice has finished cooking and let it sit unopened for 20 minutes. When a sufficient amount of water has been used and the rice has been allowed to "sit," there is no burning or sticking of rice to the pot. If rice is stuck on, pour a little water onto the bottom of the cooker and let sit a few minutes, cooked on rice will soften. If rice residue is stuck on the bottom of the empty pot, pour in some hot water and let sit a few minutes, scrape with a nylon scrubbie and rinse, then wash. It will look shiny and new.
The steam basket works great for mochi or other steamed items.
We used the cooker before we noticed the dent, so did not return it. The dent does not affect the function of the cooker, just the appearance.
The 6-cup cooker would have been big enou

1 out of 5 eggsIt is real bad experience about it

Pros: This rice cooker just got the looks.

Cons: Stop work after 4 months using. The inner pot is good, but water leaked into outer pot when cook the rice, so outpot smell bad and getting brown color (like over cooked), has to clean every time before use it.

Other Thoughts: Don't try this brand anymore. The quanlity is too.......BAD. The be careful the warranty for this product is only 6 months from manufacure, now you should know why.
