The Induction Cooker by Tatung doesn’t use traditional heat transfer to prepare your food. Instead, it uses a magnetic coil to heat the cook top - making it safe and energy efficient. When suitable cookware is placed on the cook top, the magnetic coil will react to generate heat for cooking. Heat will be turned off when cookware is removed from the cook top.  For high heat dishes, the Induction Cooker can heat up to 430 degrees. It also features a two-hour timer setting and cookware suitability detection to reduce the guesswork in your food preparation. Experience fast, effective cooking in one elegant solution with the Tatung Induction Cooker today!

  • newegg Induction Cooking Technology The Tatung TICT-1500TW induction cooktop uses a magnetic coil to heat the cookware itself, resulting in a cooler, safer cooking surface and added energy efficiency.
  • newegg Cookware Suitability Detection When suitable cookware is placed on the Tatung TICT-1500TW, the magnetic coil will react to generate heat for cooking. Heat will be shut off automatically when the cookware is removed, even if you don't turn the unit off.

  • newegg Convenient Timer The two-hour timer allows you to accurately set and monitor cooking time for perfectly cooked food.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Thought it would be useful when I need to cook outside.

Cons: It doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: I bought this when it was on sale and thought I would use it outside (sometimes I hate my house to smell like food after cooking something)
Guess what, my first time using it. Turn it on hear the humming sound. press heat and couple seconds later Ii heard couple beep and the unit shuts off. Since I bought it awhile ago and never get to use it and probably too late to return or exchange it. Now all I got was a lousy pot.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Works as advertised.

Cons: limited cookware

Other Thoughts: I wanted this for cooking out on the deck during hot days so we don't heat up the kitchen. Works great! Only limitation is that you have to use the right cookware. The supplied pot is good and i had not problems with it. No noise like some people said. Good item, would recommend.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a Wize Purchase!

Pros: None unless you already own Induction Cookware!

Cons: REQUIRES SPECIAL COOKWARE!
Not a good choice unless you already have INDUCTION Cookware!

Other Thoughts: You will have to purchase a EXPENSIVE NONSTICK pot or pan made for induction cooktop. It is NOT TRUTHFULL what they claim about stainless steel or aluminum cookware working unless it is special induction modified cookware! Other than the uncoated special stainless pot that comes with the cooktop NOTHING you might have will work EXCEPT Cast Iron with a FLAT bottom.

2 out of 5 eggsDead After 2.5 Years

Pros: Works as expected, until recently.

Cons: Noticable buzz.
Hot spots noticable when boiling water. It may just be minerals in hard-water that collect in certain points. A simple light scrub takes care of any spots.

Other Thoughts: It worked just fine while I've had it since Nov 2010.
But it finally stopped working and gives the blinking Lamp 3 & 4 indicators which says to call support.
After explaining the issue and wondering if the issue is related to the fan, they believe the problem relates to the circuit board and replacing it would have cost me $35 + $15/$20 for shipping.
I'll explore the unit, but will likely just wait for a deal that is the same or less than the amount to replace the circuit board.
A shame it only lasted about 2.5 years.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat when it worked.

Pros: Quickly heated liquids.

Cons: Audible sounds due to cooking pot resonating.

Other Thoughts: Two to three months after purchasing the unit, it started making loud clicking noises. This week, it shot sparks and smoke out the back, deformed the ceramic cooking surface, and stopped working.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as stated

Pros: Cooks quickly and since it is heating a pan it cooks like a regular burner, unlike a microwave that uses a different cooking technique. The fan and induction noise it makes is not too loud and it saves electricity by being more efficient and not transferring heat to your kitchen.

Cons: The unit itself works fine but the sticker on the unit leaves a glue residue that is almost impossible to remove - regardless of what you use to try to take it off. The unit also had several deep scratches/cuts on the control panel making it look like this was a refurb unit or, at best, evidence of extremely bad quality control. If it wasn't for the hassle and cost of returning this for an exchange it would definitely be going back.

Other Thoughts: Again, the unit works well and does what it claims to. My problems are only because of the cosmetic defects and the insane glue used on the sticker on the cook top.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for Hotpot!

Pros: Great for hotpot, shabushabu, anything like that. Have not used it for any other reasons yet. You can see it boiler from the center less than 30 seconds, and less than 3 minutes, you will see it boiling as a whole.

Cons: This shouldn't be a con, since I read about it before purchasing it, but I must say, it is loud. It serves its purpose for hotpot though. After a while, you get use to it, or others are too loud, so you can't hear it. There were some static noises that worry me at the beginning, but disappeared.

Other Thoughts: Buy it if you like hotpot. The pot that came with it is pretty nice, serves itself for hotpot. Yes I said hotpot many times. I only bought this for the purpose of hotpot. I cannot give any other views on it other than hotpot.

4 out of 5 eggsunit good; pan not so good

Pros: unit itself is fine. works and is not *too* noisy. will probably keep it.

Cons: no digital (alpha-num) display - only uses dot leds to show status.

included pot REALLY IS BAD. after one use (ramen noodles) the bottom of the pan shows spots and is discolored. the handle of the pot has a metal ring and metal screw to hold the handle onto the glass and when you wash it, water collects inside. this is going to rust, for sure.

Other Thoughts: the included pot (shiny silver color, not opaque like the current photo) is JUST a demo pot. it lets you play with your new toy the day you get it; but I would NOT suggest using it, not even once, really. the 'stainless' coating seems like it was sprayed on (not literally) and comes off in just 1 use. probably unhealthy to use the included pot. I would recommend against it, even for water.

4 out of 5 eggswhuuurrrrr

Pros: Very quick at heating water and maintaining boiling for hot pot. Stay-cool cook top is great! Bought one for myself and my parents after we tried it out when my friend bought 2.

Cons: it has a cooling fan. when nobody is talking its a little intrusive but once you start to eat and talk, its not that bad at all. Depending on the pot, the magnetic field or whatever actually makes a noise depending on the pot

Other Thoughts: get it!
