5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: It's a wonderful thing for working mom! Cooking with pressure cookers is energy saving and efficient. But I always to watch the stove with stove top pressure cooker. This electric pressure cooker make my life much easier. I can set the time, function, texture...and just leave it. It's safer. If the pressure is not completely released, I can't open the pot. It's easy to clean. Good quality product!

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsOperating Pressure??

Pros: Have used pressure cookers and canners for many years.
This new crop of automated multi-use appliances have some Real potential; their ease of use is a major benefit.

Cons: The major question with all pressure cookers is...What is the normal operating Pounds per Square Inch of pressure?
15 psi is the normally accepted operating pressure. The more pressure, the hotter the contents get, the faster they cook, AND, in most cases, the more energy efficient the process is.

This unit's spec's state "pressure: 180 Kpa".... that converts to a little over 26 PSI !! That is NOT Believable!! There's No Way!!

Other Thoughts: I believe this appliance concept has some Real Potential.
But I don't think it has matured enough.
Don't buy any pressure cooking device which normally operates under 15 psi; less than that, the benefits of pressure cooking diminish Rapidly

Beware of Hocus Pocus Pressure specifications.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst quality

Pros: Cooks rice well when new

Cons: The quality of the stainless steel inner pot is of worst quality. I brought it because it has a solid inner stainless steel pot (At least that's what I thought after looking at the pictures). Within one month of regular use (just one time per day of rice cooking), the steel coat from the pot started peeling off. We can see metal powder forms a coat on top of the rice. It is because of the worst quality inner pot. I think stainless is just a coat on some other material. It is not food grade stainless steel. I decided to through it out instead of paying for the 2 ways shipping because I will get the same quality inner pot even after replacement.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this TATUNG Pressure cooker with inner pot Stainless Steel - unless you want to eat metal residue with your food

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice Cooker

Pros: We use it as a rice cooker but have not used it as a pressure cooker yet. It's an excellent rice cooker. We really like the stainless steel pot. It looks and feels like a very solidly built and high quality appliance.

Cons: None so far.

2 out of 5 eggsMANUAL IS USELESS

Pros: Absolutely the WORST manual ever written.
What do the terms mean?
Texture relating to soup..beef...?
Is that supposed to "doneness" like rare, medium, well?
No device status indicator. Is it cooking, heating, pressurizing?
You will have to guess.

Cons: Manual and keypad is a logic puzzle.
They have what appears to be a decent product,
but it lacks any trace of intuitive interface.
They could eliminate more than half the unit's manufacturing cost and make it easier to use by simply having a time setting and temperature setting.

Other Thoughts: The guy that designed the metro interface has gone to work at tatung.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality machine - I just use the simple settings

Pros: Easy to use, everything I've tried making has turned out wonderful! My daughter and I have a good time with it! I've contacted Tatung support in Southern California and ordered 3 spare seals - I probably won't ever use them all.

Cons: Instructions could be better, I can't tell you how to use the settings. But I just maintain control and do everything manually.
Only one pressure setting.
Steam release valve 'pointer' needs to point to front of machine - it is possible to get unit under pressure with the valve pointing the wrong direction.

Other Thoughts: Using internet search tool to find pressure cooker recipes (with reviews) is the best way to go. Spare parts were easy to order. Cooking interior is not Teflon coated so I don't have to worry about scratching interior. Clean up has not been an issue.

I am able to saute onions in the cooker, however one recipe I made used a lot of chopped onions and peppers that required sauteing so I just cooked those in a large skillet (separately) on my stove. I could have done this in 2 batches in the cooker, however.

5 out of 5 eggsThis you must have, period. Buy me ! ! !

Pros: I took a chance on this unit, and bought it on sale. Lucky me. At first I couldn't understand the instructions. It's written in Chinese and Chinese (well Chinese American). But then I got it. This pressure cooker really doesn't need much help from you at all. First you press Meat Chicken, wait for the pan to come to temp. It has a nice thick ?Aluminum? plate on the bottom of the pot, so the heat is distributed very nicely. OK, hot pan, now add oil, I used a couple of tablespoons of a good Extra Virgin Olive Oil, popped a little watter in the pot, watched it dance and then threw in the chicken. I browned four sides as best I could, then threw in my onions, celery peppers, and a clove of garlic. I let that sizzle around in the bottoms until the onions just release. In goes 1/2 cup Cabernet Sauvignon. Don't ya just hate wasting good wine in a pot, so I had a sip. Then in goes your spices. I used paprika, chili pepper, black pepper, corriander (powder and leaves)., some salt, Bay leaf, and Basil. 1 can of tomato sauce, 1/2 cup water, 2 TBS Rice. I also threw in 2 potatoes, but failed to adjust the salt. Next time. Then I put on the top, cleared the machine, pushed the Meat Chicken button, and took a nap. It did everything else, including keeping it warm until my galivantin around wife came home. The chicken was marvelous, the potatoes magnificent. Awesome, and all for the push of 1 button. And a nap of course. You should buy this. Truly a time saver, and it does good things for your food, including taste good.

Cons: I had trouble with the manual. Please get one that makes a little more sense. Also, it would be nice if you had a bunch of recipes and pictures so that you could model your cooking. I'm just using my stove top recipes, and pushing that one button. You have to buy this, wait for it to get on sale, and buy it.

Other Thoughts: I'm guessing some of my old pressure cooker recipes for white , red and black beans will go just fine. Press one button. You have to buy this.
