2 out of 5 eggsScared little toaster

Pros: It's a 10 dollar toaster.

Cons: It always works the first time. But, I need to wait several minutes for it to cool down before attempting to use it a second time. It does not like to lock down when it's hot.

Other Thoughts: This is a 10 dollar toaster. Don't expect anything fancy or something that will last a long time.

I should have spent more money on a better unit.

3 out of 5 eggsYup, it's a toaster.

Pros: It works really quick. I don't think I'd be able to find a use for the intensity settings of 3 to 5. 2 is enough to burn my pop-tarts and that only takes a minute or so. It's also super cheap.

Cons: It's pretty cheaply made and the outside gets real hot, so you want to be careful not to touch it or let anything else lean up against it.

The button often refuses to stay down. This annoys me to no end. Try to imagine making waffles and having to hold down the button until they're done. Yeah, minus 2 eggs right there.

Other Thoughts: We needed a new toaster and this one works, but not 100% of the time. I'd say get it if you need something for work or some kind of secondary location, but get something better for home.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent toaster, cheap

Pros: Looks good, it's white, that's one of the things I wanted, a shiny glossy white that matches the white of my other appliances. I also needed a toaster with longer slots to accomodate the wider bread I like. The slots are longer, 1 quarter inch, not the huge difference in length I expected from the breathless description, but long enough in most cases. The slots are wider than a standard toaster to accomodate thicker bread.

Cons: The thing that changes the toast color has a good range and is reasonably accurate but only for a couple of spots. The overall toasting is uneven, some of the elements get really red, others only half the length of it gets red and others don't get red at all. In other words the amount of toasting is uneven, the hotspots can get really brown or burn if you want the rest of the bread darker. I've found the sweetspot where my toast is mostly like I like it after some experimentation, fortunately I'm not that particular.

Other Thoughts: It has a really strong spring to pop the toast up and it makes a lot more noise than my old toaster did when it does. The spring isn't so strong that it propels the bread out of the toaster but the noise almost caused me to jump out of my shorts the first time. Overall I would recommend this thing, it works OK, it's cheap, it probably works as well as the more expensive toasters and it looks good.

1 out of 5 eggs1947 was better

Pros: It looks nice on the kitchen counter. Cheap(but you get what you pay for).

Cons: I bought this to replace a chrome 1947 GE toaster that finally failed. This toaster is very light and cheaply made. The sides get very hot when toasting. The bread comes out unevenly toasted. If you want more than two slices the "safety switch" lets you wait awhile for it to cool down before it will restart. I'm going to buy a more expensive toaster and hope for 1947 quality.

Other Thoughts: Newegg shouldn't sell this toaster. Of all my purchases from Newegg this is a total disappointment.
