Amana APN14J-E 14,000 Cooling Capacity (BTU) Portable Air Conditioner

Pros: Price wasn't bad but remember it's refurb with a short warranty and neither newegg and amana is going to be happy to help you out when you have problems. Costco sells a similar unit they will stand behind for about $100 more.

Cons: Received 3 broken units in the mail. Everyone had broken caster wheels and cracked front cases. I am trying for #4 before the 30 day warranty runs out. I asked them just to cancel the order but no refunds on refurb junk. So they can ship a 100 lb unit back and forth 4 times at probably $75 each way. Smart business practice?

Other Thoughts: Customer service is limited in their help of refurb purchases so avoid buying refurb until they support those products better, it's not worth saving $50 and giving up warranty and support. Free shipping is great but these fragile units weigh 100 lbs and can't survive with a tiny layer of cardboard and one inch of foam.

Pros: I received the replacement unit a few days ago and wanted to try it before writing a review. This one works fine however I am finding it will not cool the area I need it to. I have several rooms on the same floor that are connected without doorways and this ac just isn't cutting it... not a fault of the unit really it just wasn't designed for this kind of area. Since I can't return it I'm trying to sell it locally since we need a different type of ac.

Cons: Best for small rooms, don't think this is going to heat your whole downstairs.

Pros: This item is described incorrectly!

Cons: I received mine broken. One caster was shattered. The unit was dirty, and looked REAL used. I bought this item because it was an all-in-one air conditioner - dehumidifier - heater,,, This unit does NOT heat.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg customer service gave me a full refund for this item, even though this item is listed for exchange only. It was mis-described, after all, but a full refund. I love NewEgg,,, I just didn't like this item.

Pros: Seems to cool good but it is only about 60 degrees out and rather quiet.

Cons: Cheaply made plastic and looks cheap in general compared to the everstar unit I have. The ad also says this unit is a heater which it is in no way shape or form. I purchased this unit just for the fact that it was also a heating unit .

Other Thoughts: If I knew this unit did not have a heating element and I did not already have another portable unit I probably would hold off and suffer from the mid day heat until I could find a unit that doesn't falsify what there machine does. I would also try to find something that doesn't look as cheaply made.

Pros: It looks cool

Cons: Just unboxed the air conditioner and was really excited, now it refuses to work. It says E1 on the display and flashes "stop" which according to the manual and everything online means that the water tank is full and it needs drained. Guess what, it doesn't. Tried everything I could think of, reset the power switch a few times, switched outlets, still no go. Oh, and it doesn't include a filter too btw which I found very strange. Waiting on hold with Amana, very upset and so is my wife so far.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend buying this item until hearing how things go with Amana/Newegg. Very disgusted and I can't even return the thing and I refuse to spend a cent fixing something that I just bought. It's hot out and I've just wasted 3 hours of my time. So far I've been on hold 10 minutes waiting for an Amana rep and have been writing this review while waiting.
