Pros: This little thing makes the perfect amount of rice for a family of 4. Our old rice cooker would always have over a half pot full left after eating which has gone to waste and this thing has a great non stick service. Also steams vegetables and etc but have yet to try that.

Cons: Larger families might want to find a bigger pot.

Other Thoughts: If you're living alone or with a partner/small family I highly recomment this one.

Cons: I recently bought H/APP TATUNG|TRC-6UD RICE COOKER through newegg.com. I liked it when it was delivered and I used it everyday to boil rice and used soft cloth to clean it gently and use the attached DATUNG plastic spoon. I am a gentle user. After actually about 20 days, I found out that the surface of the bottom of the inside the cooker fell off a little and it's getting worse day by day. Now the bottom's surface inside the cooker fell off a lot. You can easily see the silver color dots on the bottom. I am very worried that I have eaten the fallen-down part already and concerned that it will affect my health. It's like I spent 30 bucks for giving myself threatening of my own health!

Other Thoughts: If you buy it and you certainly can return it. But think twice, you will spend 15 buck postage on it and the postage will not be refunded. So you still loose half of your money and plenty of time.

The best thing to do with it?-----DON'T BUY IT

Other Thoughts: Classic case of you get what you pay for. I received this as a gift from someone, who bought it on sale. Within 5 mins of switching the rice cooker on, I smelt a burning plastic smell and fumes started coming from the cooker. I switched it off immediately and ventilated the room. Newegg policy says no refunds, only replacement

I thought all Tatung products were made in Taiwan. But no longer. They are now made in china. Construction was rather cheap and shoddy. Oh well let's see what Newegg customer service has to say. :(

Cons: I "feel" the lid does not close firmly, but since I'm not carrying this thing around, no big deal. The lid will still open/move just a little when I carry the rice cooker.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is ridiculous. I ordered it on Wednesday and it's here on Friday. And Newegg use paper for packaging instead of plastic foam. Big thumb up.

5.5 cup is about enough for 2 to 3 people. 1 cup of rice is about enough for myself each meal and rice "inflate" about twice the size when it's cooked.

And I doubt you need rice cooker that cost $100+ to make good rice. Try mixing different kind of rice (long grain/short gain) might yield a better result. And certainly adjust the water level next time if you think the rice is too soft or too hard.

Pros: - It cooks excellent Rice.
- It's so easy to use, a caveman could do it (Really, there's only one little switch on the entire thing.)
- The non-stick pot is actually non-stick. Really really-non-stick. After it's done, all I have to do is wipe off the starch with a paper towel, and its good to go again.
- The little Rice-Scooper it comes with is great.
- The auto-keep-warm function is a godsend. I now wake up, turn it on, and have fluffy, tasty rice for the day. I've also forgotten rice in it overnight, and it was still good. Only by the third day does it get crunchy (I went away for the weekend with it on by accident).
- Its speed and ease-of-use are almost singularly responsible for my lazy, ADD self switching to a healthier diet.

Cons: - If you cook less than two cups of rice at a time, some of the rice will sometimes become a little hard if you don't stir the rice once it's done. Although this only happens sometimes, if you generally only cook 1-2 cups of rice a day, you may want a smaller cooker.
- The floral pattern, while rarely noticeable, is pretty ugly if you sit down face to face with trhe cooker and stare at it for a while.

Other Thoughts: The Cons for this ricecooker are really very minor, especially when compared to the otherwise incredible performance. Before I bought it, I ate rice maybe once a month (Usually from chinese delivery); Now its part of my every-day Diet. My parents recently visited for a few weeks, and were so impressed by it, I'll be gifting it to them next time I see them.
For my next rice-cooker, I know it will definitely still be a Tatung, the only reason it may not be this one is that everything else in my kitchen is stainless/black. Otherwise, even for twice the price, you couldn't go wrong with this one.
