Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Everything. This works better than any of the commercial models you can rent from lowes/etc. Dirt, dog pee, puke, wine, you name it. Unlike most other steamers it leaves very little water on the rug--completely dry in 8 hours even without any ventilation/fan. Had it for over a year and no problems. If I could make love to a machine, this would be the one.
Cons: Price of cleaning solution--but that goes for any steam cleaner.
Other Thoughts: Once you see how much hair and dirt this thing picks up even off newer carpet you will be glad you spent the money, and newegg has a great deal on it.

Simplicity is efficiency

Pros: This thing is a basic, no frills, steam vac. That being said, it does a great job at that one simple thing. It is very efficient at cleaning stains, and I feel it is is just as good as bigger more expensive machines.
Cons: The tanks are a bit smaller, but they work fine.
Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a home steam cleaner, I wouldn't look at any other. I purchased my mother the significantly more expensive Hoover "v" steam cleaner, and i Will admit it has more bells and whistles, but with the more appealing appearance comes problems. The tank on it had to be replaced twice before they changed the design to one that works without leaking. This unit isn't like that. Its an old skool, proven design.

Cons: I wasn't to impressed with the stain removal ability. It works but really not as good as proffesional cleaning. Couldn't get one stain out.
Other Thoughts: great to have but I would like to know what other steam cleaners can do.

Pros: good performance and good price.
Cons: Tank is a little bit small so that you have to refill the tank more frequently than using the rented machine. However, it also makes it lighter so that it is easier to move around when you do the cleaning.

Pros: Easy to use. Amazing cleaning. Although this unit is not as sexy looking as some of the newer models, it has all the features you could ask for and at a much better price.
Cons: Nothing worth noting. It is an excellant machine.
Other Thoughts: I owned a Bissell previously, the kind you hooked the hose up to the faucet. What a pain. This Hoover is not only superior in its cleaning performance, it is so simple to use in comparison. It got out stains the old Bissell left behind. You cannot possibly go wrong with this unit.
