Evaporative Booster Technology - During the cooling process, water is extracted from the air as it passes through the unit. Most of this water is used to cool the unit and make it run more efficiently. This unit has a built-in water tank (not removable) with a drain outlet. When the tank fills, the compressor stops running. This indicates that the tank should be emptied. Included with the unit is a window mounted exhaust kit. AC must be vented via exhaust hose and window kit (included).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy setup. Cools my room down. Fits in my large window. Rarely (every couple of weeks) need to drain mine. The bright backlit LCD turns off. I have one of the 10,000 BTU Amcor units that I bought somewhere else that ships direct from the manufacturer (less chance of shipping damage).

Cons: Remote doesn't work. I haven't contacted the manufacturer yet because I really don't care. A two hose system (air in and air out) would probably have been more efficient. Doesn't make me breakfast in the morning.

Other Thoughts: This particular unit uses 10 amps so if you plug it into a 10 amp outlet you're obviously going to trip your breaker once the compressor turns on. This also pushes air out without bringing air in and thus creates a vacuum in the room it is placed--It's meant for a room that your other wall/window mount or central ACs don't reach well. Get a window/wall unit if your looking for something that does not need draining or you plan to cool large areas.

1 out of 5 eggsThird and final, blew circuit breaker

Pros: It cools.

Cons: 3 units failed. My final unit started blowing the circuit breaker. It was returned.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is awesome. When there's a problem, they ask how "can we help?". They don’t give me the runaround. They went above and beyond my expectations. I continue to shop Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a typical home AC

Pros: - Make the air a bit colder.

Cons: - Make the air dryer.
- Very loud noise.
- Heavy and bulky.
- Water need to be drain everyday.
- Air flow only to one way.
- Not really energy saving device.
- Lousy remote.
- 12.7 EER? I don't think so.

Other Thoughts: If you need additional AC to make your server farm colder or as a backup only, this might be the one for you. But don't even think replacing your home AC with this one. It's dried the air, noisy, heavy, and need a lot of maintanance.

4 out of 5 eggsServer room

Pros: Works great in my small server room as the primary AC unit. Also easy to pipe so that you never have to empty the bucket.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Will not cool a large server installation (duh?), but to keep a few (3-5) servers cool, this unit has been adequate unless the temperature outside gets REALLY hot.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor packaging 2 out 3 bad.

Pros: It cools!!! I have not had to empty the water since I started using the third unit.

Cons: 1st unit had 25% of the cooling fins on the heat exchanger folded over and a broken wheel. It was returned.

2nd unit had 10% of the cooling fins folded over, a broken wheel, leaked oil in the box and the cabinet was damaged. After a couple of weeks the air compressor would not stay running. It was returned.

3rd unit had a couple fins folded over and the cabinet was damaged. I was able to repair the cabinet myself and I will live with the folded over fins.

Other Thoughts: I believe that the fins were bent over during manufacture, which shows a lack of quality control.

All three units had some physical damage. I do not feel that they are sufficiently packaged for shipping.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great air conditioner. Cools my entire apartment. Easy to use, nice remote control.

Cons: Came with a broken wheel, not new eggs fault, ordered a new one from manufacturer for free. No power save mode(fan does not shut off when temp is reached)
