The sleek Panasonic Vortex wet/dry shaver gives you an unbelievably close and comfortable shave, and keeps itself sparkling clean, too! The nanotech triple blades are precision-polished, with the inner blade set at 30° to give you the smoothest results possible, while the 13,000 RPM linear motor prevents skin irritation, even on the toughest beards.

The adjustable pivot action of the head gives you total control over your shave; the head follows every contour of your face. A pop-up trimmer helps you keep your sideburns and neckline neat in between visits to the barber. When you’re done shaving, the HydraClean base cleans, dries, and charges the shaver, so you have a fresh, clean shaver every morning!

The base uses a detergent-based cleaning solution to remove all the debris, then uses heat to quickly dry the shaver, before any corrosion or bacteria have a chance to get started. The base completes the drying cycle with a fan to dissipate any remaining moisture. Whether you prefer to shave with lather and water or dry, the Vortex gives you smooth skin that lasts and gets you out the door quickly!

5 out of 5 eggsGreatness!

Pros: - Lasts For Years
- Gets the hair really well
- Leaves you feeling fresh!

Cons: - There really arent any that i can think of except it pinches the skin maybe once every 40 shaves. I have not changed the blades and i got it in 2010, so that could be 1 of the many reasons why. Wouldnt really count it as a con.

Other Thoughts: My sister bought this badboy for me on 2/28/2010 , and its been a beast! Havent had to change any of the blades yet. I would say i only shave once a week though, and i use both blades, the trimmer to cut it down, then the main blades. Still Using it to this day.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Shaver

Pros: -Does a great job at shaving some of the rounder parts of my face. Does a decent job with the rest
-The cleaning station does a great job
-Works well in both the shower and outside it, on both dry and wet skin.
-Replacement blades are inexpensive and only need to be used once or twice a year.

Cons: -I cannot get the shaver to hit my longer hairs. If I don't shave every day it has a hard time getting everything cut smooth.
-It does a horrible job of trimming near my beard. If I get too close it grabs my beard and pulls hairs out, and still doesn't shave the stubble next to my beard.
-Transitioning from my neck to cheeks is a hassle. It's hard for me to get a good shave on those areas.

Other Thoughts: I bought this shaver so I could shave on my way to work while waiting in traffic, and it has done a good job so far. My only real complaint about it is that it does such a bad job around my beard. I have to use a razor once or twice a week to clean it up.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: I would give this 5 stars, but you need to shave at least twice to get all the random stray hairs left behind from the first shave.
However, once you do get them all and keep up with shaving everyday -- this thing is great. It has saved me a bunch of time, and eventually will save me money once the initial cost exceeds my yearly razor head purchases.

Cons: Sometimes requires two passes

5 out of 5 eggsGreat shaver

Pros: Seems well built and has lasted for about two years with no signs of failing, unlike my last Norelco, on which the on/off button began to fail within two years. I get about 10 shaves per charge, which generally means it lasts a couple of weeks - and I have not seen a decline in how long a charge lasts since I bought it. Still plenty of power by the time it wants a recharge, so it gives a quality shave until the end. If I forget to charge it overnight when it gets low, it will recharge enough for one shave in about the time it takes me to brush my teeth. Shaves comfortably and pretty close - I've never had a nick or cut from this, but have occasionally with my Norelcos. Works well wet or dry.

Cons: I have a fine, soft beard and if I let mine grow for more than two or three days, this shaver has problems lifting whiskers that are growing flat against my skin. Takes many passes at varying angles and skin contortions to get them all. I think the lift and cut design of other brands may be better for that, as well as give a slightly closer shave, but I'm still happy with this one.

Other Thoughts: This has been my favorite shaver out of the five I've owned over the last 25 years or so.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat shaver

Pros: Nice close shave - surprised me for an electric. Gentle on the skin.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'd always been pretty happy with my rotaries but they never got close to a blade shave. I decided to try the Panasonic based on the great reviews and I couldn't be happier. It shaves dang near close to a blade shave. Some people have trouble with 3 days growth but I've found that if I skim the razor over the top of my beard once or twice before going all the way down to the skin I get a good shave and don't leave the stray long hair. I always use it with a foam shaving cream as recommended by Panasonic and it makes for a nice gentle shave. I have occasionally tried it dry but don't like it. The cleaning station is a bit of a gimmick - I only used it once a week when I charge the shaver. The higher speed cleaning function I find worthless - the beard hairs get cleaned out of the blades better using the normal shaving speed.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Shaver

Pros: Great shaving results, close and comfortable (at 13,000 rpms, it's doing some serious cutting!); cleaning/charging dock saves time and does a good job; easy disassembly for changing blades, etc.; popup trimmer. I dry shave almost daily and have no irritation to speak of (haven't tried wet shaving yet).

Cons: It makes a high-pitched, annoying noise to get those 13,000 rpm's, that I haven't gotten used to yet, but that doesn't really take much away from my overall satisfaction.
Also, sometimes, it will fail to cut a few stray longer hairs if I go longer than a day or so without shaving. These I can usually count, so it's not a LOT by any means, but I do have to pop out my old had razor for those. Still not a critical con though, especially if I shave daily.
Cleaning process, while thorough, takes a LONG time, well over an hour and I think close to two (never actually timed it).
Cleaning solution pack has to be replaced and it's a bit costly. Strangely, it's confusing as to how often you have to replace it; seems you can replace it less often the MORE you clean, according to the manual.

Other Thoughts: I was using a less expensive rotary shaver and wanted to try a foil and this one got such great reviews I decided to try it. I am completely satisfied and would highly recommend it, even with the few minor cons mentioned above. The foil gets a little warm after a couple minutes, but that in itself is rather relaxing, makes me shave more thoroughly. If you've never used an electric shaver before, you might, like me, think it's bogus that they say you have to use it for 3-4 weeks before your skin & beard adjust to the new method of shaving, but it seems to be true. Maybe after 3-4 weeks of not using a hand razor it just FEELS as close because I'm used to it, but I don't think so. This thing just does a great job!

5 out of 5 eggsLife Changer

Pros: It's amazing!

Very easy on skin

No pulling whatsoever

I haven't used it with shaving creme but I did use it immediately after a shower when my face was still damp. It felt great. With the rotary shaver, I would have to wait 10 minutes before shaving or it would just chew the hell out of my skin.

Cons: Only shaves in one direction. Luckily, my hands work, so I can just turn the shaver to different angles as needed. Not a big deal, although someone with limited dexterity might think otherwise.

Considerably noisier than rotary shavers (but the noise is not unpleasant, so not a big deal)

Close shave but not quite as close as rotary shavers. For me it is still a net gain because I would avoid shaving when all I had was the rotary shaver so I only looked decent every 3rd or 4th day. <rant>Oh, and what the heck is up with all these lightly bearded tools I see walking around like they missed a day of shaving? You can't perpetually miss a day of shaving and have a dusting of a beard like that. This means they are actually buying special shavers to give them that day-old beard look. Why would you put that much effort into looking like a lazy slob? Either shave or don't shave!</rant> Okay, I feel better now.

Other Thoughts: I've been using rotary shavers since I started shaving because that's what my dad used and that's what he got for me. I've always hated shaving and I realize now, after 18 years of shaving, that this is because rotary shavers are terrible. It's more like they are plucking the hair instead of cutting it. People think I'm a bum because I hate shaving so much. I just put off shaving until my face starts itching and I can't take it anymore. Well, with this new linear shaver, I actually look forward to shaving. The screen feels nice against my skin. There is no plucking or pulling. I only feel a bit of warmth from the blade friction. I feel renewed!

If I could go back I would probably order a nicer model (like the one with four foils) and skip the cleaning and charging base. It is kind of nice to have the shaver automatically cleaned but this is something I can easily do myself. Also, I doubt I will be buying replacement detergent packs once I've exhausted the one it came with.

2 out of 5 eggsRating part 2

Pros: I don't own it anymore

Cons: It just isn't a good razor for people with very stiff beards. It literally took 8 minutes to shave and I was still dissatisfied with it. If I have any growth past 3 days on my neck, this razor could not, no longer how long I used it, shave the hairs off. On a funny note, when I tried to use the sideburn cutters to get the hair off my ears, the shape of them force me to cut a ridiculous line over them that was not easy to hide.

Other Thoughts: This is my second review on this razor (just look up my other one from last month) and since then I have returned it for a full refund. I will not own an electric razor ever again.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Shaver

Pros: This is a sweet shaver. Its my 1st electric shaver (figured i would end up saving money in the long run -compared to disposable blades). After days of research, contemplating, and thinking. I finally said i would buy this shaver, and am i glad i did! -if your really reading my review. Stop. just go buy the thing already. Final thought... saving 'wet' leaves you feeling like you just shaved with a razor -super close, baby bottom smooth feeling.

Cons: Since it is my 1st electric shaver, it seemed a little loud (high pitch buzzing noise), but its nothing that leaves your ears ringing or anything -you get used to it, and really, its not that loud.

Other Thoughts: my shaver wrote this review -thats how cool this thing is.

3 out of 5 eggsNice Razor, nothing special

Pros: The price was good for this razor after comparing razors on multiple websites, including consumer reports. Seems to work as long as you don't need it as smooth as a manual razor.

Cons: I may be different from most but I tend to shave about twice a week and in that time, can grow some good amount of stubble. Razor seems to have no issue if I shave every day, but after 3 days of not shaving, it has issues. The hair on my face area (around the mouth, nose, and sideburns) gets cut OK with a few passes, but I really have to work to get my neck done. I did find if I shave from side to side instead of down from the chin to the bottom of my neck, it does a little better. I'm in the AF Reserves so I shave mainly on the weekend of my drill and don't think it's close enough to pass there but for everyday use, it works fine.

Other Thoughts: Although the price for the razor was less than others in this class range, I feel I could have picked up a $40 version and received the same results. I wouldn't have had the cool self cleaning docking station but I could have done without if I had known it wasn't going to be the best for my application. I haven't tried using it in the shower (or after a shower for that matter) and that may be the key to getting a better shave. I like to shower at night, but on military duty, I shower in the morning in order to have a non-painful shave with a manual razor and thought this was my answer but it looks like i'll have to stick to the morning shower after all.
