4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Gives a good shave when used wet. Display tells percentage of battery available and when the sonic cleaning mode should be used. Works well with whiskers that are several days old. Finally at the point where the blades MUST be replaced and it has been used for 11 months. Probably should have replaced a month or two ago for maximum effectiveness. Comfortable to hold. Contours well to the face.

Cons: Takes much longer to get a close shave when used dry. Can't use when plugged in, so make sure you have enough charge for a shave. Replacement blades/foil are rather pricey.

Other Thoughts: My previous shaver worked as well or better than this one, and the replacement parts were cheaper, but it cost several times the amount of this one, so overall value is pretty good. Wish the replacement parts were less costly. Actual rating more around a 4.5 egger.

1 out of 5 eggsUnderpowered, weak motor

Pros: -No worries about getting it wet
-Easy to clean

Cons: -Motor is underpowered, causing pop-up trimmer to jam, ripping the hair off your face
-Doesn't have the power to shave your face after ~48 hours of hair growth
-Battery life is disappointing. If your facial hair is long, one shave drains the battery

5 out of 5 eggsPanasonic Arc IV shaver

Pros: Gives a fast close shave. Not very noisey at all compared to other shavers. Got 9 shaves before it had to be charged. Works best wet and with lather, but gives an acceptable dry shave.

Cons: None that I found in over two weeks of normal use.

Other Thoughts: I got a gift certificate from my son for Christmas so when I saw this come on sale I grabbed it. The reviews for the shaver were excellent, and now I'm glad I got it. On a full charge I got nine 3 minute shaves before it reached the 30% charge mark. Using Edge Shave Gel, three minutes gave me a very close shave and a water based cleanup. Let it air dry for about an hour, put it back together and into the drawer it goes ready for tomorrow. I get as close a shave with the Arc IV as I've ever gotten with any razor, and that includes other electrics, double edge blades, triple edge blades, the old style Gillete replaceable blades, and my trusty antique straight razor. The razor is definitely quieter in operation than my two year old ES-RT31 Panasonic that I have been using, even though it's a higher RPM motor. I am most impressed with the shave from the Arc IV and would recommend it to anyone wanting a good close shave. It is well worth the money spent, and I wouldn't waste my time buying another brand of electric razor

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great close shave

Pros: This shaver is a buy. I bought because the 4 cutting heads, and the linear motor (13,000 rpm). Included is a 2 year warranty. gives a nice close shave, picks up the stray hairs others leave behind. The trimmer works better than any I have used.

Cons: None, really impressed with the product

Other Thoughts: I have used foil shavers for a long time. This is a nice upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsGood solid shaver

Pros: I used a Braun shaver for the past 20 plus years and decided to give this a try based on the reviews I read. Got this about a month ago and it has performed well for me. The only complain I have is that it only gives me about seven or eight 5 minutes shaves before it needs to be recharged. I like the fact that I can now shave while taking a shower

Cons: Battery life is not as long as my old Braun shaver

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Shaver

Pros: Gives close and clean shaves. Have had many different brands over the past 40 years and this one, leaves my face the smoothest. Also other brands always left face feeling sore and itchy, no problems with this shaver.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It holds a charge for several shaves, and when it needs one it charges quickly.

4 out of 5 eggsBasically OK

Pros: Basically this is a nice Panasonic shaver that was worth the price and allows a better shave that most of the other major brands that I have owned. It has four screens (but only two cutters), quickly recharges and fits nicely in your hand. Works equally well dry or wet.

Cons: Sometimes it seems to leave a little too much stubble, but other times not. It is somewhat disappointing as I previously had bought a cheaper Panasonic model (bought for 30 dollars less) and this one performs on a par with that shaver and I was expecting more. It also seems to have something of an issue where the screen gets compressed against the cutter creating a high pitch sound and a lack of performance. Doesn't seem to damage the shaver though.

Other Thoughts: I think I am a Panasonic buyer. These shavers are certainly good products, they have less maintenance than their competitors (for example you can easily go a year before buying screens and blades) and easily flex to the contours of your face. What more can we ask? As for me, I am still looking for a shaver that you run once over your face and the job is done!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Shaver

Pros: Close shave; head privets, fast shave; shaver is well contoured to fit hand; holds hair within unit rather than the hand holding the shaver; made in Japan; useful LED screen; should get two weeks of shaving before recharge; two year warranty

Cons: No hard case, no brush to clean heads; expensive; high cost of shaving for the first two years ($115) of 22 cents per shave; then with replacement of all four blades a more modest and reasonable 11 cents per shave.

Other Thoughts: Electric shaver all my life; do not care for rotating shavers after owing a Norelco; also had a Remington and then became a loyal Braun user;

now owned by Proctor & Gamble with the result of no customer service; the Braun 5000 worked well and that included its Ni-Cad battery, which when discharged properly will produce years of reliable service;

I wanted to extend recharging time, however, the Braun only provided a week worth of shaving between recharging; my shave time with the old blades (two years) was 4 minutes vs
the Panasonic 2.5 minutes a considerable reduction in time. A two blade system (Braun) vs a four blade unit (Panasonic).

I do hold Panasonic in high regard and have owed other produces under their name.

I too have some reservation about the type of battery being used in this electric shaver. One main issue is, that over time (think cell phones) Li-ion batteries begin to lose their recharging capacity. This shaver should last, hopefully, at least five yea
