5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: I finally purchased this cooker after I found it on sale. So far I have cooked, white, brown and steel cut oats, they have all been great!

Cons: No GABA setting, but I already knew that! I will try it on the brown rice setting and hope it is good.

Other Thoughts: Great value, especially if you catch it on a sale.

1 out of 5 eggsThe rice cooker is defective.

Pros: shipping is fast

Cons: The rice cooker is defective. It's thermal sensor does not work properly. Usually rice result is under cook.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Rice Cooker

Pros: This rice cooker was purchased to replace one that has been working perfectly for well over 20 years (and still does). A little math says that it had produced properly cooked rice over 7500 times for us. It was originally imported under the National brand.

This one appears to function identically with same general arrangement and construction. Added time delay start feature and a clock are the only notable differences.

Cons: (none)

Other Thoughts: Great product. I fully expect this to last just as long.

5 out of 5 eggsMost excellent rice

Pros: Nice looking on the counter; easy to clean; PERFECT RICE EVERY TIME.
In the Warming setting, it won't desiccate your rice.
Brown rice does take a long-ISH time, but the payoff is that it's not burned, and there is not an inedible rind on the bottom of the pot.

Cons: Watch that steam vent! It's hot!
Somewhat non-intuitive until you actually start to use it. However, it is SO "forgiving" that you never have a bad pot of rice.

Other Thoughts: The idea behind fuzzy logic is that this appliance's microprocessor does not divide your food into sharply defined sets of "done" and "not done." The principle here is "degree of done-ness" and therefore you get great rice every time. Do not fear the rice cooker! It works beautifully!

5 out of 5 eggsGood rice cooker

Pros: It cooks brown and white rice pretty well. Cleaning is easy. It's awesome got it on sale for$80.

Cons: Takes 2-3 hours cooking brown rice, but I knew that. After finishing rice the steam just drips all over your table/counter.

Other Thoughts: Buy it, but when its on sale

1 out of 5 eggsDefective unit, worse technical support

Pros: Looks nice and well constructed

Cons: None of the "computerized" features work. No fuzzy logic, no buzzer when cooking completed and no warming. Worse yet is the technical support. The person that took the call had to go offline for about 10 minutes to get some answers. When she returned, she started reading the instruction manual. When questioned about the timer (when you select the type and press Start), she said that the timer wouldn't display until the cooking was done. Didn't have a clue why it didn't sound the end buzzer or go into warming mode.

Other Thoughts: After dealing with tech support, we decided to go with another company that actually understands what their product does. Maybe Panasonic should stick with consumer electronics and leave appliances to companies that understand them.

5 out of 5 eggsInsane value

Pros: Price, brand, quality of construction

Cons: Long cook times

Other Thoughts: The previous reviewer's cowardice (N/A for a name?) and obvious lack of ownership of the unit notwithstanding, I picked this up on a super sale for under $100 and finally got a fuzzy logic rice cooker after owning a plain jane $15 rice cooker. I love that I can set a timer and wake up to oatmeal, or set a timer to have the rice ready at mealtime. I like making brown rice from time to time, but usually by the time I want it there isn't time to make it. This allows you to set it early and have it ready by mealtime -- but it does take 2 hrs. to make brown rice. So unless you have a pressure cooker (25 min), brown rice is still a planned event.

I am here to say there is no rice volume conspiracy going on in the land of Panasonic. It can make up to 10 "cups" of white rice. The "cup" measurement is the plastic cup that comes with the cooker.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: TBD

Cons: TBD

Other Thoughts: Buyers beware! Bad Panasonic marketing people are trying to confuse the public. Reputable rice cooker makers, such as Zojirushi, have always marketed using uncooked/raw rice capacity. When you compare products, ignore the cooked capacity gimmick in the title; this is simply a 10-cup cooker. By the way, a "cup" is not the regular measuring cup in the U.S., but rather the smaller cup that comes with the rice cooker.
