4 out of 5 eggsHandy and small

Pros: Reasonable accuracy, and detect small temp difference created by different colors absorbing more or less heat. Small size makes it easy to carry around. Handy for hobby uses. Easy to use, just press the button.

Cons: Once you set time the unit never turns off! Remove battery and replace to reset. Unit gets less accurate as min and max limits are approached. LCD setup text very small and difficult to read.

Other Thoughts: The instructions are confusing in regards to the clock display. They should say that setting the clock causes an always-on mode, rather than indicate a settable parameter. Handy for checking battery temp in rechargable toys or tools.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: It's about as accurate as it says (accurate to about 4.5 degree F) tested based on my temp which was fairly close to 98.6 and checking various things like the fridge (42F) and the freezer (10F) (which are the same color so it doesn't change numbers based on color like one reviewer had said)

Cons: none as of yet, feels like a toy, and its fun to play with so it's sort of appropriate :)

Other Thoughts: got to check mobo hot spots

4 out of 5 eggsAmusing toy

Pros: Cheap, easy to use, and amusing to place with. If you have wanted an infrared thermometer just to randomly check the surface temps of stuff, the price is right.

Cons: May have no real purpose due to size and range -- this is a toy.

Other Thoughts: Careful if you start going up to people and taking their skin temperatures. They might think you are checking their blood sugar -- looks just like a glucose tester.

1 out of 5 eggsuseless.

Pros: its small

Cons: Its useless. The temperature it displays depends on the color of what you point it at.

Other Thoughts: dont bother.

4 out of 5 eggsOk for my use

Pros: Simple enough to use. Caught a great price.

Cons: Almost impossible to read the mode icons. Suggestion to manufacture - colored LEDs for modes would be awsome.

Backlight would be helpful to see reading.

Other Thoughts: Mini is right. I missed that and had a good laugh when it arrived.

Helps to read the manual there is a a min. temp and a max temp setting where you only see the highest or lowest captured temp while pressing. Could explain why some reviews say it is so off.

2 out of 5 eggsToyLand

Pros: Very Compact, very-very...

Cons: It is so small that I gave it to my child to play with. Not worth ... even as free. My fault for not looking at the specs for this toy.
Try getting some temps from this unit and I received different number every time. No time to badder with RMA for this unit.

4 out of 5 eggsRugged and Small

Pros: Built Tough. Mine went through the washing machine, after taking it apart and letting it dry it works again. Temps seem fairly accurate.

Cons: It needs to be pretty close to get a good reading, so it doesn't do well in tight spaces smaller than your fist.

Other Thoughts: For the price you can't complain, it also functions as a clock and stopwatch which is nice. It's probably a nice tool to keep few around ie. tool box, tackle box, car, kitchen, pool, it's uses are rarely limited.

5 out of 5 eggsworks well

Pros: Readings are consistent, very quick.

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: Uses a coin battery cell. Includes a clock function (not tested).
I use this for measuring circuit board hot spots, to detect design bugs or failed components.
