4 out of 5 eggsNot Equipped for Broiling

Pros: Good price, spacious, adequate low-tech controls (maybe a plus), attractive appearance due to large glass oven door

Cons: It has no broiler rack. The manual instructs that the broiler rack be inserted in the drip pan for use in broiling or roasting. Although a broiler rack is not shown in the picture or description, it is misleading to advertise this unit as a Toaster Over "Broiler". The idea behind broiling to cook with direct heat, with the fatty juices falling in the drip pan. The food being cooked is separated from being immersed in its own fat by being elevated by a broiling rack. Rosewill tech support was of no help and rather curt, stating that the manual had generic instructions and the unit had no broiler rack. I deducted on star for the lack of an essential item like the broiler rack.

Other Thoughts: I got lucky and converted an orphan rack of unknown origin that I had saved for "who knows what". After a few minutes of clamping in a vise, hammering, cutting and bending, I was able to come up with a broiler rack that is serviceable.

1 out of 5 eggsTimer does not work

Pros: work ok

Cons: the timer does not work on the second month ( about the third time I tried to use it). the pizza was burned. So if you want to use it, you should have a alarm with you. The shipping is expensive and I do not willing to waste my time on doing the return.

3 out of 5 eggsOK Construction but decent oven

Pros: - The oven heats evenly, and does well with pizza, bagel and toasting bread - the three things I have tried so far.
- The included pizza tray and baking tray means we do not have to buy additional accessories for this oven
- The crumbs tray at the bottom makes for super-easy cleaning - especially after toasting a sesame bagel which drops lots of tiny sesames into the oven

Cons: - Construction of the oven is cheap at best - the door just "falls off" after opening since it does not have a stopper
- You cannot keep anything above the oven since the top part gets fairly warm

5 out of 5 eggsGreat toaster oven

Pros: I bought this for only 30 dollars a couple of weeks ago. So far I have cooked 12" pizzas and fish sticks in it and everything has turned out almost perfectly! For the price I don't believe it can be beat at all. It is a great size, fits 12" pizzas perfectly and all the controls seem to work great.

Cons: Took a little while for the new smell to wear off, since I live in a college apartment and I didn't really have anywhere to take it outside. Be careful cooking things without a pan on bake mode because the heating elements can stay on longer than you might think and burn the bottom of whatever you're cooking.

2 out of 5 eggsIt cooks food but doesn't live up to it's "Broiler" name easily.

Pros: As far as ovens and pricing go this thing is okay for being between $20-$40 (hopefully you find it on the cheaper end rather than the expensive). It cooks evenly and very well and in the function of an oven it's good enough.

Cons: However being the atypical couple, my fiance and I, we elected to read the instructions and noticed a blatant and confusing error/problem...

To put the error in blatant focus and, according to the Rosewill website, this Toaster/Broiler oven comes with:

1. a name: Name - Toaster Oven Broiler (note it says BROILER)
2. stated functions: Functions - Bake, broil, toast, convection bake and warm
3. accessories: Included Accessoires - Oven rack, bake pan, Crumb tray, pizza pan

Notice in the accessories it does NOT include a broiling pan.

Now, when looking at the instructions, the user gets the following steps in the Broiling section:

"5. Place the Broil Rack onto the Drip Pan"

Does anyone see the problem yet? If not then let me illuminate the problem: OVEN RACK....BAKE PAN....CRUMB TRAY...PIZZA PAN....these are the "included" accessories. Nowhere else is it mentioned that there is a "Broil Rack" or a "Drip Pan". Upon emailing the customer support, or the pathetic attempt that passes for it,

"Thank you for contacting Rosewill Support Service.

We apologize for the any confusion this may have caused you.

Please be advised that "briol rack" and "oven rack" are the same part."

Spelling mistake aside...why they up and decided to use a different name is beyond us. We were searching all throughout the box and were confused as to why we couldn't find this mysterious "broil rack" when the entire time it was, apparently, the "oven rack". Now we only have the mystery of the "Drip Pan" which appears to be a metal sheet that is perforated with holes to catch all the juices off that delicious piece of meat you put in that oven. As far as that goes, well, it certainly IS a mystery...

"Regarding "place the Broil Rack onto the Drip Pan", please note that the drip pan is not included with RTOB-11001, you may purchase it separately." Excellent!!! But...don't make it too easy on me now. I'd HATE for you to actually link to me where and how, which leads me to say...

Purchase where, exactly? Off the website? Oh hell no. It is NOT on Rosewill's website. They don't have a parts/accessories section except when it comes to wine. They only have one section for Toaster Ovens and, lo and behold, they only have ONE oven listed here...the RTOB-11001. And you too can purchase this fabulous oven in all its majestic glory...but as far as accessories go...huh? What accessories? No links here but to the specs of the oven itself. Even google searches yield nothing more than other websites linking to newegg and (a certain website that's named after a certain famous river in South America...apparently you can't mention it's name because it's a "bad word" on here) for this and also to a "Cuisinart TOB-DT1 Drip Pan" that has nothing to do with the toaster oven in question.

So in essence we have instructions that need translation because they couldn't just

1 out of 5 eggsThe Perfect Gift For Someone You Hate.

Pros: It's the perfect gift for someone you hate.

Cons: The top of this thing has deep scratches in it like someone with a pneumatic screwdriver when nuts on it.
The door has no stops. It opens to 90 degrees instantly.
The pan that comes with it is to narrow to fit in the channels.
No way of knowing what temp you actually have.
The temp gauge is extremely inaccurate.

Other Thoughts: If you have a food that needs to have a set internal temp before you should eat it then don't stick it in this without a thermometer.

I've seen alot of different items that Rosewill sells and it's all low or poor quality.
There's a reason why they are the low ball kings here.

3 out of 5 eggsJust A Matter Of Time...

Pros: Large oven capacity

Cons: Door "catch" broken right out of the box.

All other toaster ovens we have owned have a door that opens partially, then is pulled down and you can feel resistance to keep the door from falling open.

Unfortunately right out of the box the door would only open approximately 1/3 of the way and was stuck in that position. Our choices were to either pack it back up and pay to have it returned... or try to open the door.

Well we pulled hard enough to open it and now there is no resistance to opening it.... and believe me, due to the size of the oven this is a large AND heavy glass front door.

Result: if you open it an inch or so and are not carefull, the door will just fall down with the handle slamming the coutertop.

Everyone in the family has been made aware... if you use the Rosewill Toaster Oven... be extra careful opening the door.

I know it's just a matter of time until someone forgets, the door drops open full force into the countertop and the glass shatters.

Eventually I'll take it apart and see if anything can be done to repair the door opening hinges/catch mechanism.

Other Thoughts: Believe all who say this is a BIG toaster oven... but that's OK because that's what we wanted.
Example: 12-inch Digiorno pizzas fit in perfectly.

It's only used occasionally at a condo we use a couple weekends a month, so it'll be difficult to predict how long it will hold up.
