Disappointed
- Pros: Price
Close shave, surprisingly given my other comments. Nose hair trimmer, uses a single AA battery and works too.
- Cons: High pitched whine
Under-powered Marginal Sideburn Trimmer Low Run Time, last less than a week.
Twin button head release: The head release latch is a pain, theirs no spring to pop open the head and pushing both buttons and hooking a fingernail under the head all at the same time is difficult at best.
Small and Difficult On/Off button, you actually have to visually search for the on/off button.
No charge indicator to indicate charge completed.
Feels like sandpaper while shaving, another example of the inferior technology of Remington.
- Other Thoughts: I've been a Norelco user most of the last forty years, I've watched as they progressed from solid functional razors to expensive gimmicky razors. Those expensive gimmicks caused me to try this Remington knockoff of a basic Norelco design.
Two things struck me about the R450 from the get-go, 1) the sharp whine of the motor vs the purr I'm accustomed to, and 2) the motor was under-powered, it would noticeably slow when all three cutters were engaged on the side of my face. Then I came home from a backpack with a 3-day growth and the motor literally stopped while shaving under my chin, ouch!
So if a close shave at a bargain price is all you need and you can live without an elegant product, go for the R450.
great shaver
- Pros: Shaves me better that foil screen ones, just ordered another since on sale with code and free shipping (24.99) is cheaper than buying new heads. Norelco don't shave me as well and they are way over priced.
- Cons: none

Love it!
- Pros: > GREAT value for the money.
> Decent battery life. > Fully washable unit (but don't submerge it). > Head assembly is fully detachable and easy to dismantle and clean. If sharing the shaver with other family members (though at this price, why not get one for everyone?), you can just drop the head assembly into a cup of rubbing alcohol overnight while the body is charging. > Side burn trimmer is easily accessible and works great. > Nose hair trimmer does its job.
- Cons: > Can't use the shaver while it's plugged in.
> Takes a while to fully charge. > No full-charge indicator. > AC adapter is only compatible with 120v/60Hz. > Shaves get a little rough near the end of the charge (from diminishing motor strength)... But a brief recharging or some shaving cream will alleviate that.
- Other Thoughts: I like how the instruction manual comes with full disassembly instructions for battery recycling. Obviously, someone with the slightest DIY skills can use these instructions to replace/upgrade the battery later down the road.
Horrible, doesn't hold a charge
- Pros: It was cheap and came with a nose trimmer
- Cons: This thing couldn't even hold a charge through one shaving session. I don't know if my facial hair is that manly or what, but the thing is weak.
Usable, but not the best
- Pros: Has not failed me yet. I have owned one for 1 1/2 years and no real problems with the use up to date. Once the thing is open, it is easy to clean. Comfortable in the hand. I have not yet needed to replace the blades yet. For the most, it does what it is intended to do.
- Cons: No base.. It will not work while plugged in.. If they are going to make it mandatory that you unplug the razor, they could at least give you a stand so you do not have to unplug and replug the razor back in every time you use it. The buttons are on the side part of the razor to pop open the top to clean it out. They are a bit annoying as they are not very well placed and a little hard to press by stiffness and location. 2 hands is a must to open the top to clean it out.
- Other Thoughts: The motor does seem to be a little under powered, but i have yet to have it fail to shave me. It seems to bog down a little while shaving, but not sure if it is actually straining or if it is supposed to sound and feel like that. I have not had any problems with it shaving me, battery running low, or blades going dull yet, and have owned it for 1 1/2 years. I have not left it unplugged for days so can not say how long the battery will actually last. the most with it unplugged that i have tried was 2 shavings. because of the roundness of the razor, you have to watch that you set it down right or it can roll. have had it fall off of my shelf a few times so far, and so far, it has not broken. so it does seem well made.. from a casing quality point of view. It is worth the $25 that they are selling it for right now and if you are looking for something somewhat decent for a cheap price. then might be worth considering. but if you want a really well made and designed razor, pay the extra.
