Has multiple settings for individual preferences and moods. Love the ambience it provides. Built my own hearth and inserted the fireplace unit myself, easily. My family all love it. We use it primarily for ambience, not for the heating. Cons: The heater fan makes noise, and speed is not adjustable. But the sound is easily drowned out by room noise or conversation. I knew what amount of heat to expect off of it, and it is THE most realistic fire you'll get from an electric. Seriously, it's good. Everything is awesome about this except the cons... Cons: The remote doesn't work. That gets it a star off. I JUST get this new things, and the remote is broken? That sucks. I'm gonna email newegg and see what they can do. I tried new batteries, I checked the remote with my phone camera, no IR at all. I even took it apart and soldered in a new IR LED. No help. It's in the board or the chip. Just dead. It's not worth sending the whole unit back. Just disappointed. But, I got it for free so, what can you expect... Other Thoughts: I've read a lot of reviews where people complain that it doesn't heat their rooms... It's a tiny (4600 BTU) heater, what do you expect? I put this in my living room, and when I set it on 68 degrees, my heater doesn't kick on at all, all day. I live in Michigan, and it's winter, THAT'S saying something.
