4 out of 5 eggsGood set, better than nothing, but not the best.

Pros: Solid
Sharp.
Durable.
Good shape

Cons: Unbalanced.
Semi-heavy, even the smaller knives.

Other Thoughts: Great set for the money (got it on sale) and its better than what i had (or didnt have) before. Better sets obviously cost more, so within the price range this is probably one of the better sets. They had one model above this, that might solve the unbalanced issue, but not sure.

2 out of 5 eggsAll are Serrated knives

Pros: Nice looking block and the steak knives and bread knife are fine.

Cons: However, the other knives...including the "chef" knife...are serrated and therefore worthless.

Other Thoughts: I can't recommend, even at sale price.

5 out of 5 eggsNice knife set

Pros: Attractive, feels expensive, very sharp knives (and scissors), wood block looks and feels high quality and holds every piece, for the price.....it was a steal.

Cons: Might not be highest grade stainless steel, but for $40 I am NOT complaining. To prevent issues of rust, I will just hand wash them and dry quick.

Other Thoughts: For $40 shipped, this is a deal for a knife set. The bamboo block is attractive and holds ALL pieces perfectly. The knives are SHARP, feel substantial, and overall the Ginsu name makes me think these will hold up over the years. Is this a high-end chef knife set? Probably not......but I didn't spend $300 either. However, I feel I made a very good purchase and these Ginsu knives get my 5 egg vote!

5 out of 5 eggsGinsu Knife Set

Pros: These are very high quality. Heavy duty, sharp excellent knifes. We have a 4peice set but these in the 16 peice set are far more better.

Cons: Be careful of your fingers because they are heavy duty and sharp.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Very Sharp. Nice weight, well balanced. If you can get them for under $50 go for it.

Cons: For the price you really can't have any complaints.

Other Thoughts: Stainless steel does not mean it will not rust. Yes it use to before we started exporting our steel to Japan and importing their steel, but technically does not mean it does not rust. It still holds true that it does not stain.

Welcome to the disposable economy.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Great knives. Very attractive block. Extremely sharp.

Cons: None. So far.

Other Thoughts: Reluctant to purchase due to everyone's "rusting" issues. The answer, of course, is don't be lazy and drop them in the dishwasher. Wash and dry these by hand directly after each use. So far, I have no rust. This is a great set of knives.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Very Cheap Quality

Pros: Sharp Blades, Wooden block is high quality.

Cons: These things rust so easy. If you leave them in your dishwasher, or if you leave them out with water on them, they will rust, and rust bad.

Other Thoughts: Stainless steel is not supposed to really rust. These knives began rusting after the first week.

It's obvious many of the people writing reviews here, wrote reviews right when they got the knives. Heck, I would've given out 5 eggs in the first week too, but after that, they began rusting. I can't eat with them with all the rust, especially on the blade-edges. CLR worked to clean them up a bit, but they just come back the next time you wash them.

I would avoid, and look for a higher grade of stainless steel. I'm quite sure if these blades were forged, rather than stamped, they would last a lot longer.

5 out of 5 eggsGinsu 04816 Bamboo Series 16-Piece Stainless Steel Knife Set with Block

Pros: Price, and reviews.

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: These were out of stock and the I got notified it was back ordered it right away and before I knew it, it was at my door. Great job Newegg.
Not much knowledge on knife sets but this one looks sturdy and it looks like it would hold up.

2 out of 5 eggsPretty poor

Pros: Cheap, relatively... I bought these on sale, and for the block itself, I was money good.

Cons: Blades have a really wide curf, they cannot be sharpened, the "chef's" knife is the wrong shape and is scalloped. all of the knifes in the set are really handle heavy, and have no balance.I ended up throwing away most of the set, I kept the nakiri and the block. All of the blades are stamped, not forged.

Other Thoughts: Do yourself a favor, and buy something, anything else. I have some Ragalta's that aren't bad, and newegg carries a set of much better ginsus for ten dollars more. Buy them.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: These knives are great. I didn't know what to expect for the price, but I'm definitely not disappointed. Cuts through potatoes with no effort, cuts through hard cheeses like butter, and I even cut through a frozen ham no problem. Cut my finger with no effort also.

Cons: None that I've found

Other Thoughts: Make sure you hand wash these knives.
