4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Blows very cold air
- Top filter is easy to remove and clean
- Remote control has a neat "follow me" feature, a standard feature in all Keystone units I've owned
- Not nearly as noisy as some other ACs I've had
- Easy to setup

Cons: - HIGH power consumption! Kill-a-watt meter showed that it peaked out right over 1500W at times, averages between 1200-1400W draw!
- Window kit kinda flimsy, my window is very high up and is the horizontal sliding type. The window panel is kinda warped from the hose having to reach up that high to clamp on, still holds though, but it could've been better designed.
- Bottom air filter removal is a pain, must remove screws first. Good thing I only have to clean both filters about once a month.
- Only marginally better than my previous window unit, which was also a Keystone brand, the KSTAW06A which is rated at 6000 BTU. This is a 13,500 BTU AC.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't have bought this portable AC if it weren't for the HOA clowns who told me to remove my window unit. I had a Keystone KSTAW06A unit previously, and was forced to remove and sell it. That 6000 BTU AC worked amazingly well for my medium sized bedroom. I bought this one because it had more than twice the BTU rating, and was on sale for a great price. Also, I never really had any problems with my previous Keystone unit that lasted me over 2 years, and it was a brand I never heard of before... so I decided to give that brand another go. Despite the fact it has more than twice the cooling power, it only cools marginally better than the window unit (portable units are always less efficient) and draws more than three times the power!! *angry face* *raises fists at HOA*

I've owned this for almost 2 months now, with no major issues whatsoever... never had to empty the tanks etc. Only cleaned the filters once so far. Can keep my bedroom in the high 60s during night time and low 70s during the daytime (I live in TX, temps reach triple digits during the day). Noise levels are not a major concern for me because I'm deaf anyways and sleep like a log. Only real complaint is that the power bills are going to be higher thanks to HOA!!

Hopefully this unit lasts a long time before I have to replace it. Keystone ACs have treated me pretty well so far despite being an off brand, and for that I support them. I can't live without a standalone AC in addition to central AC because of my intolerance to heat (I'm fat, have northern genes in me, and live in the wrong part of the world!) I used to own a portable unit by Soleus Air before I had my Keystone window unit, and that piece of junk broke down within a year and had to be RMA'd TWICE before I finally gave up and sold it cheaply to a more experienced AC guy.
