3 out of 5 eggsCollpases the loaf, bad odor

Pros: Looks good in black instead of the usual white bread machines, large variety of different loafs can be made, easy to use menu with customization and it can make large loafs.

Cons: I've been making my own bread using a drill with a batter attachment for over a year and I've never killed the yeast, collapsed a loaf, or wasted a loaf and I've had consistent results making 1-2 loafs per day since June 2011. I got this bread machine to make my life easier but there are many cons. First, it needs to have a stainless steel bread pan, not a coated metal one because it contaminates the bread. Sticking is part of good cooking. The top of the loafs collapse following the recipe in the manual or any other recipe. The bread has a bad odor, probably from the teflon lining of the bread pan or just from the heat heating up the plastic bits of the machine and also changes the taste a bit. Also mine had small surface scratches out of the box on the lid, might have been refurbished and resold as new... :(

Other Thoughts: Marginally okay to use and it should be slightly better once the odor goes away. It could be collapsing the loafs because some of the yeast is killed by the teflon contamination but I have no proof this is happening. Or it could be collapsing the loads simply because the heat is not high enough to reduce moisture in the bread fast enough before the yeast dies.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a great value!

Pros: Easy to use, many options and varieties, baked a perfect loaf each time I've tried so far, haven't sampled the jam setting. I like that it makes horizontal loaves and has multiple size options, too.
What an excellent value, especially for the price! I read up a little bit on breadmakers and was happy to find a two-paddle option.

Cons: Doesn't have a sourdough setting, which the $300 models offer... not a bad con, though, right?

Other Thoughts: I'd highly recommend this breadmaker for the novice or experienced baker!

4 out of 5 eggsHandy thing to have

Pros: I thought I'd use it more for bread than dough, but then I found a great recipe for pizza dough. I make that once a week. It's also terrific for regular bread-shaped breads and I've made French bread and English muffins with it as well.

Cons: Not many. It's pretty large so if you want to leave it out you'll need room.

Other Thoughts: I would buy one again. I think it's paid for itself by now.

5 out of 5 eggsTwice the mixing awesomeness

Pros: Having gone through my third breadmaking machine just by wearing out the pan, this bread machine replacement has done a wonderfully delicious job at filling the role of our previous bread maker.

The features of this machine compared to our last one is incredible. For starters:
it has two mixing blades instead of just one! This evens out the mixing process incredibly!
It allows you to see and adjust the temperature of your baking based on 3 settings!
It isn't that cheap nonstick coating that wears off after the first use, this thing is EASY to clean!
It has 3 loaf sizes, 1lb, 2lb, and 2.5lb (plus everything inbetween)!

Cons: It doesn't make coffee.

Other Thoughts: I've only made a few loaves with this so far, but they have been impeccable, especially compared to previous bread machines I've owned.

I am 100% satisfied.

3 out of 5 eggsDied

Pros: Made good bread and dough. Made probably 60-70 loaves, plus pizza dough on occasion.

Cons: Died after 22 months. Midway through a loaf, the paddles disengaged internally. The motor was still going, and the bread baked up fine, but it can no longer knead dough. At >$1 per loaf just for the machine, not sure if it's worth the convenience.

Other Thoughts: 4 cups bread flour, 1.5 cups water, 1.5 tsp salt, 2.25 tsp yeast was the best recipe for me.

Don't think I got mine at the egg.

5 out of 5 eggsMakes good bread

Pros: Makes very good bread, we average 2 to 3 loaves per week. Also usually 1 or 2 batches of pizza dough. No problems at all. Also has customizable options if you want your bread / dough made your way (like pretzels).

I set it up to make bread when I go to bed (with a delay), it is warm and waiting for me at breakfast!

Cons: None that I can find.
