Pros: Solid, easy to fill tank, comes with 2 sets of 2 pads each, does not flood the floors, has a handy scrubbing brush. Good surface coverage (the pad is large enough) and the mop is heavy enough to provide enough friction to scrub floors.

Cons: I wish the handle twisted 90 degrees for compact storage (but show me one mop that does that)

Got it to replace my cheap-o shark and this mop is soooo much better. See the pros - my thoughts on this products ae all there. Let's see how long it lasts, but for now, it's a win.

Pros: This is only the second review of anything I have ever submitted, but felt that the Bissell 1940 Steam Mop deserved a positive review. Our 30+ year old light colored linoleum floor has practically no wear but the shallow wide grooves and pebble finish have collected dirt and grime in the high traffic areas that we could not remove with any commercial cleaner, or suggestions on the internet that we also tried. Although the floor was mopped weekly with a floor detergent, we could not lighten the high traffic areas to normal color, even with scrubbing with a stiff brush. Since the linoleum was sold a special compound at that time (can't remember the trade name), and never needs wax, we did not want to try stripping it. We considered buying a steam mop, but reviews suggested many reliability problems and poor results. We were about to replace the linoleum when a price special on the Bissell Steam Mop appeared on NewEgg, and decided to order one since the investment, with rebate, was minimal. The results have been amazing. The mop pad after the first use (with heavy scrubbing) was almost black with dirt, and the linoleum was almost normal color. Three subsequent scrubbings over the next 3 weeks removed more dirt and grime (after first sweeping and mopping the linoleum with a floor detergent), and has restored the linoleum to almost new condition in terms of surface color. The steam mop pad again showed much dirt had been removed from the linoleum, but each time was less dark than the previous scrubbing. The brush built into the Bissell Steam Mop was used continuously during mopping, and seemed to help remove the dirt in the textured surface. I am extremely satisfied with the Bissell 1940 Steam Mop. The reason for only 4 eggs is because the heavy duty mop pad wants to curl under the mop head at the front edge, thus preventing 100% contact of the mop with the floor, and causing the curled under pad to become dirtier than the adjacent pad. See Cons below.

Cons: The heavy duty mop pad curls under the mop, along the front, during use. It absolutely does not stay in place during heavy moping. The solution is to sew a piece of velcro to the tag that is near the center of the front edge of the mop, and place a mating piece of velcro with a strong adhesive back, on the top of the mop head in a position that will keep the mop pad slightly stretched and in place . The top part of the mop head does not get hot, and the velcro adheres very well. With this fix, I would give the Bissell 1940 Steam Mop 5 eggs.

Other Thoughts: I use only distilled water. There have been no problems with the mop so far. I did buy the extended warranty (which I rarely do) in the event problems develop.

Pros: sale price saved $20

Cons: paid $20 to ship it back

Other Thoughts: Purchased this steam mop on sale used it twice before it started leaking water. Contacted Bissell customer service for repair or replacement and they told me to return it to the retailer. Purchased it online and it cost $20 to return it, so much for a good buy. That aside Bissell customer service is terrible and this will be my first and last purchase of a Bissell product of any kind.
