4 out of 5 eggsBlows cold and a lot of options

Pros: Upon opening the box the A/C looked great and packaging on it was pretty well done.

It took me and only one other person to install into our garage window. It took maybe 2 hours and the cord was long enough to reach the outlet so plus one for not having to use an extension. The unit fired up right away and I will break it all down in sections.

I spend A LOT of time inside my garage, whether it be fixing my car or just hanging out with the guys over the weekend. With a lot of folks breathing and a lot of body heat inside a 2 car garage, with any fans or a/c it can get quite toasty in there. With this and around 12 people inside the garage on a 80F night it stayed cool in there while we sat, talked and played games.

Of course we all know it doesn't cool the room right away but it sure doesn't take long either. Just try to tell your buddies to keep off from staying in front of it when you first get it going. Remote makes a beep noise but is responsive and you don't need to press 2-3 times for it to register. Easy to drain, and air filter is in the front which I prefer. All in all it blows cold, has all the options you could possibly want and will keep a two car garage cool.

Cons: I didn't notice the first few times using it but just recently it started to make noise, seems like the casing is just loose or something loose inside. I call them wear and tear noises but it doesn't bother me too much since I don't use it inside.

The beep from the remote can be a con if you use it in your bedroom, yes. But in my case using it in the garage it doesn't bother me at all.

This unit is heavy so don't try to do any installation on your own if you are planning to install personally. One thing to note is the 1 year warranty. Not sure if that's standard on these A/C units but one year for an item that is to be used daily in harsh warm weather like these a/c units deserve more than just 1 year of warranty.

Other Thoughts: A bit pricey but the specs and options you get along with this A/C unit is pretty fair. I've had the unit for about a month now and have used it at least once a day with no issues. There hasn't been any signs of failure nor do I feel like anythings changed. Sturdy construction and seems like something that'll last for quite awhile.

2 out of 5 eggsNoise

Pros: Cools very well

Cons: Very high noise level Statement on shipping box says whisper quite. It is far from that compressor is very loud when cycling off giving off a loud bang and vibration. Wakes you up when sleeping, I have had many Friedrich air conditioners this model is by far very noisey. Stay away from this model. Stuck with this noise box.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful,Quiet Easy to Install

Pros: Will actually cool my whole 1st floor ,with my 3 bedroom doors and 2 bathroom doors closed.
Very quiet on low speed, much louder on high speed but provides max coverage.
Love bragging about the 11.2 eer!!
Long cord, and all the latest bells & whistles
Not a problem to Drain the overflow pan and it really
dehumidifies the constant mid 70s dew points in South Florida.
Was easy to install as i had my maintenance man install for me lol.
Small footprint but sturdy.

Cons: The remote beeps to loud when adjusting the a/c.
Plastic grill on front is a little to filmsy, louver pops out to easy.

Other Thoughts: Just what the doctor ordered for a small size window a/c.
Can be powerful or quiet and being 7800btu i am hoping if we are unlucky enough to need a generator this summer/fall it can kick over this 115v and keep several rooms cool .Its a 5/5 star

So you are going to buy an AC online? The box the FRIEDRICH Chill CP08
came in states something like: THIS IS HEAVY and BULKY. The units packing was good. The unit was not damaged in shipment at all.

Cons: Thin Curtains

Plastic bottom guides for curtain were very difficult to snap in place, very difficult !

Sub-Par Directions

eg., Instead of Hardware Location it's Lardware Location. Just a typo but I laughed.
Poor Drawings Designating Where Things Go and what orientation of object is proper.
Why Would I Need a Hammer for Install ?

Lardware, er... I mean Hardware supplied with unit is of Low Quality Foam is really, really cheap. Go to your Home Supply Store and buy some good stuff. Holes for screws need to be started first before final install.
Screws are cheap soft metal but serviceable

Why MUST the Remote BEEP ? WHY? If your wife is sleeping and you change the temp...BEEP ! DUMB !!!!!
How bout a NO BEEPING Option ????

Directions state that the louvers turn right/left and up/down. There is no right/left but the oscillator supplies that.

I am taking an egg off for the cons. To me they are significant enough to warrant it.

Other Thoughts: I am an expert on wall AC units having owned many. In my book AC's have very few requirements.

1) When the compressor comes on or turns off I don't want a big WHUUMPFFF. That maybe OK in a living
area but NOT in a sleeping area. The FRIEDRICH Chill CP08 has at this time the quietest compressor I have heard in a small unit. I am very happy.

2) The biggest concern in my area is lower temps but high humidity. Some AC's fail in those areas. So far
the FRIEDRICH Chill CP08 has done OK, not great but acceptable.

3) The unit is quite heavy for 7800 BTU's I associate mass with quality.

4) I have an app that measures dB. Right next to the unit it's about 60dB. Where we sleep in the room it's about 50dB.
According to the app's chart 50 dB is "Quiet Office, Quiet Street"

5) First the cabinet is placed in the window then the unit slides in. I was surprised that a smaller AC
would go this route but it did make one aspect of install easier. I didn't need to worry much about the unit
dropping out the window before I had it secured.

6) I Felt the airflow across the room

7) Fan Speeds 2 and 3 are loud enough to help drown out street noise.

In the few short weeks I have had the unit there have been a few nights we really needed AC. The weather was hot, humid
and our upstairs is not well insulated so it gets really uncomfortable up their. The FRIEDRICH Chill CP08 worked wonderfully. We had restful sleep.

I recommend the FRIEDRICH Chill CP08 without reservation. Don't save yourself a few bucks...get the FRIEDRICH Chill CP08.

3 out of 5 eggsOK at best.

Pros: The AC comes with a remote and a proper way of draining the overflow pan. The filter is very very easy to clean and access. The plastic fins are very sturdy
The remote has a wide view and long range which is nice. It also comes with a holder.
The cord is grounded and is quite long which is very nice.
The timer is very nice and can be setup to turn on when you get home or something of that sort.
It has its own window mounting kit.
The ac seems to be very sturdy and has a small fingerprint.
Can run off a small generator nicely.

Cons: It was very damaged in shipping with busted foam everywhere in the box. The fan is quite loud and seems to viabrate a lot. Fan mode puts out cold air. The ac is quite heavy and not easy to carry. The airvent is about 1/6th the size of the front. Not so nice. The water build up is quick but that is my environment.
The AC did not seem to cool my room as a whole. The room did meet max size specifications.

Other Thoughts: Not only was the ac lost in shipping... It was sent to the wrong house a week late. The AC came damaged. Not happy with the shipping. Overall...I would use it as a backup.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Air Conditioner for small room

Pros: Small footprint for an air conditioner that gives so much cold wind.
Sturdy enough aluminum housing which protects the insides quite well.
The plastic front (vents) are okay quality
Comes with window mounting kit
Light enough for one person to carry
Quiet fan operation (but more on that in the CONS section)
Produced super-cold wind in just a few seconds after starting it
Remote control is awesome and responsive.
Remote control comes with small cradle and screw
I like the 24-hour timer, which it automatically comes on when I get home from work at 6PM and turns off during the night.
It has a "fan" mode built in but still sends in cold air
The front is mostly covered with the air filter which (in my opinion) is a good thing
Air filter is located in the front making it easy to replace once it gets dirty.
It comes with a long enough 3-prong cable to reach electrical sockets.

Cons: Aluminum case is sturdy, but a bit flimsy. They could of made it a little thicker to resist weather elements and dust.
The fan operation is quiet, but I ran into the problem of having the insides shaking and rubbing against the Styrofoam and making terrible scratching noises. The noise is so loud, it wakes up my kids in the middle of the night..NOT GOOD.
I like that it has a large air filter, but at the same time this is a little problem for me.The actual air vent is only 1/4th of the front.
I wish the buttons on the control panel light up or had a light button so you can see it at night time.

Other Thoughts: I really want to like this unit. Everything works well. The construction of the unit to the amount of cold air it gives are excellent. It keeps my bedroom very cold (which I love). The remote control is very convenient and it works when I'm across the room.

When it gets cold, I love that this unit has a "fan" mode so I just switch that on and it saves me $$ while my room is still cold.

The only issue about this unit is the loud noise that it makes. It's awful and loud. I've tried putting insulation on the bottom of it, tried putting a towel on it, but none of it worked. It feels that when the fan turns on, it's rubbing against the Styrofoam it's in-cased in. I've tried multiple times just moving it and some times the loud noise will reduce a little but then it comes back after a short while.

Minus 1 star for this, otherwise...if you''re looking for a energy efficient, 1 room air conditioner, this guy is quite reliable.

I had it turned up when it was 105+ outside and it gave me nothing but cold air (plus the noise). If I could get rid of the noise then I'd give it 5 stars!
