5 out of 5 eggsUse as an oven; Full size pie plates fit

Pros: I bought this oven because I support small businesses like Hamilton Beach. What I like most about it is a full size pie pan fits in it. (My largest have 8" bottoms and are 11" across the top.) Most toaster ovens I've had in the past are not that deep.

It fits perfectly on a metal bookshelf in the corner of my office. It is just the right size and I use it as a regular oven. I rarely make toast, but I do make quick breads and biscuits in it regularly and use it to reheat low liquid foods like pasta or rice dishes.

Cons: I haven't had any problem turning the knobs, but I don't use electrical appliances with wet hands. Personally, I have never seen a toaster oven that automatically pushes the shelf out when you open the door. That would be one more likely point of failure. Using a potholder isn't a disadvantage to me.

Other Thoughts: I use this toaster oven 10x more than my full size oven. It is built better than others I've had in the past. The indentations where the racks go are deep so it is less likely to let the shelf fall with heavy usage. (When that happens during use the heating elements on the bottom can be damaged.) I use the tray to cook biscuits and bake squash and small pumpkins or potatoes. I'm completely satisfied that this toaster oven does what I want it to and so far it has held up perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsIt is a toaster oven.

Pros: This toaster oven works very well so far, and despite what others have said it makes excellent toast. My roommate and I have both used it a lot since I got it and we don't have any complaints. I haven't had any issues with it being slow to heat, and yes, you do have to pull the rack out yourself. I don't... I don't even have a response to that. First world problems, I guess.

Cons: Isn't really a 6 slice toaster oven, unless your toast is very small. It IS a very spacious 4 slice toaster oven. This isn't worth an egg to me, but it is a little misleading.

The knobs are not textured at all and that can lead to them being a pain to turn if your fingers are wet. Again, not really worth an egg to me.

Other Thoughts: I honestly can't think of anything I would want this to do that it doesn't do. It has very even heating, it gets very hot very fast, and it broils, bakes, and toasts.

2 out of 5 eggsMiss-named as a "Toaster Oven"

Pros: 1 Relatively large capacity for a "toaster oven"
2 Relatively low wattage even for a simple toaster (1300W); good if you have limited electrical capacity and use for a small oven-like appliance.
3 Top is good for a plate warmer

Cons: 1 Very slow to heat
2 Useless as a toaster (for reason #1)
3 Rack must be manually pulled out (with oven mitt)
4 Toast can fall off end of rack (no support wire along ends)
5 Timer only for heat shut-off (easy to burn things)
6 Surfaces & particularly top of the oven get dangerously hot; good as a plate warmer but bad for idle fingers.
7 Claimed "6 Slice" capacity would require very small bread.
8 Uneven toasting

Other Thoughts: I have happy memories of several GE Toaster Ovens which worked well for grilled toast snacks. The Hamilton Beach 31511 looked like a potential replacement, but failed for this function in every way. It's just too weak to be anything but a tiny oven and an inefficient one at that since it has no insulation. Given how much counter space it requires, I returned it.

4 out of 5 eggsAn Oven For Geckos

Pros: Spacious interior without being an overall huge oven.
Comes with both rack & tray - toaster ovens without trays quickly become a mess from food falling through the rack.
Supports various cooking modes - bake (bottom heat), broil (top heat), and toast (top & bottom heat).
Removable bottom tray for easy clean-up.

Cons: The knobs have no grip on them and can be difficult to turn.
The timer could stand to be a little clearer for toasting.

Other Thoughts: What is this?!
A toaster oven for GECKOS?!

The smooth, shiny knobs look nice, but they are nigh impossible to turn if you have even a bit of slipperiness on your fingers, as might happen, say, when you're holding food to put in an oven...

Would have been 5 eggs if the knobs had been designed for kitchen use.
