For brewing a personal cup of coffee at home or on the go, nothing's better than a single cup coffee maker. The Scoop Single-Serve Coffeemaker lets you make coffee one cup at a time, without the mess and hassle of brewing a whole pot. It utilizes the simplicity of ground coffee, and brews a customizable cup quickly: an eight-ounce cup in less than 90 seconds, or a 14-ounce travel mug in under two-and-a-half minutes!

Moreover, the Scoop Coffeemaker is designed for ultra-simple preparation in three straightforward steps: 1) Scoop, 2) Place, and 3) Brew. It features a steel mesh scoop for filtering freshly ground coffee, and comes with a built-in, adjustable stand that flips to accommodate a standard-size cup or a taller travel mug. Equip your kitchen with a personal coffee maker for day-to-day convenience, and consider putting one to work in your office, too.

  • newegg Allowing for Various Coffee Grind Types The Scoop Coffeemaker doesn’t need pre-packaged K-Cup packs or coffee pods, which can get expensive – not to mention stale – over time. Instead, it comes with a mesh scoop filter that gives you the choice of any flavor (caramel, hazelnut, vanilla, etc), any brand (Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, etc.), and any strength (regular or bold) that you wish.
  • newegg Differing Boldness Levels Whether you decide to go with a mainstream brand coffee or a stronger premium-brand coffee, you need a machine that understands and quickly adapts. Use the "Regular" setting for a quick basic, automatic drip coffee, or choose "Bold" for more fine-grind options, decaf, and the stronger flavors of premium-brand coffees like Starbucks or Melitta. Just remember that the finer the grind, the longer it takes to brew. For bolder coffee, the water passes through at a slower rate, but allows more contact time and better flavor extraction for a better tasting cup when done brewing.
  • newegg Measuring Proportions Appropriately Not sure how much coffee to add when brewing? Not to worry — each scoop filter is labeled with two measuring lines for exact serving amounts. And more isn’t necessarily better, in this case. Overfilling the scoop doesn’t allow room for brewing, and the water can overflow and spill over, ultimately meaning weaker coffee.
  • newegg Adjusting to Suit Your Cup Size Before brewing, adjust the "L"-shaped cup rest to make sure your cup is as close to the dispensing nozzle as possible. For travel mugs, fit the cup rest against the coffeemaker, and place your mug on top of the drip tray.
  • newegg Easy Dishwasher Cleanup Unlike leading coffeemakers with confusing attachments and high-tech buttons, the Scoop Coffeemaker has only three removable parts – a scoop filter, a secondary filter, and a cup rest – and all are dishwasher safe. For consistent trouble-free maintenance, it should be cleaned internally once a month, by pouring ½ cup plain white vinegar and ½ cup cold water into the water reservoir, brewing and then running 2 to 3 cycles of cold tap water, before making any coffee.
  • newegg Award-Winning Design The Scoop Coffeemaker was awarded the "2012 Good Housekeeping Very Innovative Products (VIP) Award" by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute. In addition, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) gave it high rankings for its ability to use coffee grinds, instead of packs or pods, and simultaneously give users the freedom to choose their own flavor, strength, and cup size for their coffee.

5 out of 5 eggsBest alternative for kureg

Pros: This saves lot of money over the time as I dont have buy those expensive singl cups any more. Also I can use different coffees when ever I like.

Cons: Temperature is not that high. Also it takes extra a minute or so to make the 8oz compared to single cups

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for $40. I am OK for that price but I will nver pay full price for this. Also note there is every day cleaning of three parts for this maker which is not the case on use and throw single cup makers

5 out of 5 eggsAn attractive flexible fast system

Pros: Fast brew cycle, even on the Bold setting
Makes 8 oz or 16 oz - or any size in between
Easy to fill, use & clean
Not tied to expensive k-cups
Double filtered so no sediment gets through

Cons: Very Minor; I would have preferred a second hook on the outside for the 2nd scoop so it will dry faster instead of putting it back wet

Other Thoughts: So far my wife loves this coffee maker. It's bigger than her old B&D model, but so much nicer. It did take a few cups to figure out the right amount of coffee; we use Folgers or Max. House regular grind & prefer ours strong.
Following the set-up directions the machine 'drank' 4 oz of water - I put in a full mug & only got half of it back, so run at least 3 cups to prep it.
Finally, be sure all users are aware of the second filter - it will fill with sediment & overflow, but the system is well designed & cleans easily.

5 out of 5 eggsLove This Coffee Maker!

Pros: Can use your own coffee, no pods to buy, Reusable metal basket filters, easy to clean, makes really good (& hot) coffee. Perfect for the "coffee snob" (like me) who needs a small personal coffee maker at work because the coffee provided is nasty.
The flippable metal cup holder is a really nice touch.
Overall, a high quality, well-constructed coffee maker.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Why isn't there a basket filter-holder hook on both sides? There are 2 filters, why not 2 hooks? Would be handy for storage so that the filters can dry.

Tips: The drip can splatter a bit, so I build up a little platform underneath so that my travel mug barely fits under. This eliminates the small amount of coffee spray.

I wipe off the water dispenser lid after each use and also rinse the basket and secondary basket. They come clean without soap if you don't let the grounds dry in the basket.

I've also found that you need to grind the coffee a little more coarse than you're probably used to. Otherwise, you end up with coffee sediment in the brew.

And DO NOT overfill the filter basket thinking you'll end up with a strong cup o' Joe. The coffee bubbles up and ends up all over the brew top and thermoplastic o-ring. Which is a pain to clean.

Great L'ill coffee maker. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for work day

Pros: I got this coffee maker as a Christmas gift and I love it. During the work week it is perfect as you can make enough coffee for your 16oz travel mug to take with you to go to work. The stainless steel filters are nice as they are easy to wash out. Brews a good cup of coffee as well.

Cons: Doesn't make a 24oz coffee.

5 out of 5 eggsMakes good coffee

Pros: I like the fact that this coffee maker is made of high quality, nice looking, parts. The bottom of the box states that the unit is 1300 watts, which a 8 oz mug will brew in about 1.5 minutes. This unit comes with 2 filters which also serve as a scoop. There is also a third filter sits below the first filter. So the coffee is double filtered. This does a much better job than my previous, inexpensive coffee brewer.

Cons: Can only brew 14 ounces.

Other Thoughts: I like the overall design of this coffee maker. I also like that the base plate is metal and so are the filters. It is also nice that the base plate flips allowing for a splash less experience when brewing into smaller mugs. Well thought out maker.
