Other Thoughts: my older one was dying so ,decided to try this one as I only use melitta dark roast coffee,but did not want to spend 50 or more for cheap (poorly made) coffee maker that makes lousy coffee.had pricey ones that leak and breakdown quick (as soon as the warranty expires it seems) this makes good strong coffee, the way I like it.quality seems good.set the warmer on high because of other reviews,then had to lower it to med, because it was to hot, burned my mouth.not sure why other reviews said could be hotter. also I noticed right away was the carafe does not leak out the side of the lid when poured as every one,expensive or cheap has because of not being made correctly(that annoyed me)very satisfied I would purchase again.also the optional water filter that h.b. sells does fit in this model for those that filter water for better tasting coffee.

Other Thoughts: Great coffee maker for home/office. Im using it for the office and i love it. Brews coffee using 1 of 3 settings for brew strength. Love out the pot can pour coffee without spillage.

Overall, very happy with the product.

Cons: Coffee maker design flaw: steam rising out of carafe made the LCD screen unreadable after about a week, after two weeks the buttons to control on/off and programing stopped functioning due to extreme condensation.

Pros: This coffee pot is PERFECT, have had everything from Kurig to
Mr Coffee. This is the only one we have ever had that filled easily with no leaking. Everything about the way it is designed takes away the type of problems we have had with any other Coffee pot, and the stainless steel design is beautiful out on the counter. The wife loves th is pot, and with care, we'll have it for a very long time.

Other Thoughts: I don't know when it was decided that coffee makers, like vacuums (Dyson excepted), would become disposable and never last more than two or three years. Since i insist on using Melitta cone filters (I get them very cheaply) there are no name brand machines I would buy for less than $50. Over many years I've had more coffee makers than I can remember and they all broke. So since I don't need a built-in grinder or even a timer, I buy the least expensive machine I can for around $50. That leaves out brands like Cuisinart and most Braun/Krups units.

I have a Hamilton Beach crock pot I bought for next to nothing that I love so when Newegg put this HB coffee maker on sale for well under $50 I bought it to replace a $50 Krups that leaked. So far it's one of the best machines we've had. 12 cup (vs. 10 cup) units are scarce so that was a plus. I don't use the timer but I have found the "strength" setting (regular/"bold"/"robust") and the heat setting (lo/med/hi) to be quite useful. It takes the #4 Melitta filters we already had in the house.

My only quibble is that if you want to make fewer than 6 cups you need to measure the water first because you can't see how much you're putting in on the gauge until it hits 6.

I don't know if I would like this machine as much if I had paid full price for it (there's a lot of competition in the $50-$65 range) but at the sale price I'm very well pleased.
