Learn more about the P3 International P4480

P3 International

A smart addition to any home, this unique timer allows for total control over electricity usage, even when out of town on business or away on vacation.

The handy gadget reads energy consumption by the kilowatt-hour and calculates electricity expenses by the day, week, month, or year.

It can also be used to turn household appliances on and off, with seven different combinations for each day of the week and up to 96 programmable on/off settings per day.

Connect it to a lamp with random on/off times to make an empty house look occupied, or attach it to valuable appliances--its built-in surge protector guards against voltage spikes.

4 out of 5 eggsProduct kills deadly watt eaters

Pros: Device does everything it says it will. Great for finding phantom power eaters. Orange display is easy to read from appropriate angles. Manual explains unit's operation in great detail if one RsTFM.

Cons: Unit does not come with adapter or extension cord to allow easier reading of display when in difficult-to-position-your-head situations; must be plugged directly into wall as shipped. Resetting past measure values is not easily figurable-outable without a quick read of the included manual.

Other Thoughts: Kill-a-watt device should mostly be considered novelty as once you've gone around your home checking the random charger here and there you'll likely not use the unit again. Add that to the fact that you're not likely to ever receive a ROI for the get the picture.

One neat tidbit I discovered: I had a faulty (or soon to be dead) PSU in my main desktop and the kill-a-watt appeared to have been potentially useful in discovering the increased consumption the PSU was causing (using pre- and post-fault measurements).

4 out of 5 eggsNice unit

Pros: Nice display, Ability to see Current Amp, Volt, and Watt usage as well as Cumulative KWH for a period of time.

Cons: Quite pricy for little bit you may hope to save in electricity by turning non-essential devices off.

Other Thoughts: It doesn't have to block both outlets if you plug it into the upper one...

5 out of 5 eggsnice

Pros: Does everything I needed it to do and some. Nice little gadget. The orange display is AWESOME!!!!!!!! Glad it wasn't green or blue.

Cons: None for the product. People leaving a bad review over personal preference is just idiotic and must be mad at the world. Get a life.

Other Thoughts: Don't let People like "mediocre at best" steer you away from this product. It is a nice addition to my tool set. You will be amazed at how much electricity appliances use daily. Now i know which ones to unplug when away n to not worry so much about. And yes this device does not come with batteries but does NOT say that it does either. Some people want the world handed to them on a silver platter. Loser Btw did I mention the orange display looks AWESOME?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!

2 out of 5 eggsMediocre at best

Pros: Battery backup with timer, and surge protection. Does what normal Kill a watt does, which is pretty cool.

Cons: Orange LCD? I'd much rather see this in green, or blue.
Uses 3 AAA batteries, which were not included.
Do not feel the price on this unit is justified vs the regular unit.

Other Thoughts: If I had it all to do over, i would just stick with a normal kill a watt.
