3 out of 5 eggsBogus refund, not happy

This review is from: KitchenAid KP26M1XBU 6-Quarts Professional 600 Series Stand Mixer Cobalt Blue

Pros: Good reputation, works well with an odd clicking sound under load. Nice speed adjustments and attachments, beautiful cobalt blue color.

Cons: Refund was rejected because KitchenAid said I purchased the product outside the offer date range. Offer date range was Nov. 23 - Dec. 26. I purchased it through Newegg on Dec. 9, 2013. Sent in all paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. Feeling totally scammed and tired of the rebate offers that take months and cause frustration following up on them. Come on Newegg, support your customers and stand up to your online partners or don't offer their products. You have a good reputation, keep it up and don't scam us with bogus offers.

Other Thoughts: Not happy with Newegg if they keep offering products and deals that don't pan out.

Pros: It’s a tank! Boy am I glad I made the investment – this baker is in love with the quality and performance of probably the BEST piece of counter-top kitchen equipment ever! My 24 year old mixer was in need of replacement and I set out to find a new one. The old one was a workhorse that I thought would be hard to match – this KitchenAid surpassed my expectations by leaps and bounds. Not only is it beautiful to look at, it’s powerful and makes quick work of mixing.

This model comes with a 6 quart mixing bowl, plastic pouring shield, a 6 wire whip, dough hook, and a flat paddle attachment; additional attachments can be purchased to enhance the set. It comes with a 1 year limited parts and labor warranty. Weighing in at around 30 lbs., you can be rest assured that it won’t “walk” across the counter while in use. It measures 17” tall, 10” wide, and 14” deep-quite an impressive piece.

I baked my first batch of peanut butter chocolate chip cookies yesterday and all I can say about the mixer’s performance was WOW! I’ve baked these cookies tons of times, but this was the best batch ever! The first step in making the cookies involves creaming the sugars, butter, peanut butter and canola oil. With my old mixer I’d have to stand over it for an extended period of time, scraping the sides of the bowl, waiting to get the base to an adequate creamed consistency - most times I would give up even though I knew it wasn’t fluffy enough. Yesterday, to the KitchenAid, I attached the flat paddle and this time was different. The KitchenAid pulled the ingredients together in almost no time – the best and quickest creaming I’d ever experienced. I continued on with the rest of the recipe blending to perfection! Because of the perfect creaming, the cookies didn’t “weep” oil and they baked up beautifully!

After the cookies were done I used the wire whip to mix up ricotta cheese for lasagna. The machine whipped the cheeses and herbs to a wonderful, fluffy consistency. The dish baked up nicely and the cheese filling was great.

Cons: There aren’t many. It’s quite heavy so I have decided not to store it in the pantry when not in use; I will be leaving it on the counter. Like I said previously, it’s beautiful, so why not show it off?! I wish that the attachments could be washed in the dishwasher – they very specifically say not to put them in because it will pit the finish.

The bowl, at first, was a little difficult to get on and off of the stand. You have to line up two holes on the side and click the back on to a metal tab. It takes some getting used to, but for safety sake (so your bowl doesn’t go flying across the kitchen during use) this is a necessary pain. None of these cons should compel you not to purchase this mixer.

Other Thoughts: I can’t say enough about the beauty and power of this mixer. As I stated in the pros section, additional attachments can be purchased. My first add-ons will be the flat paddle with the rubber bowl scrapers attached and an additional mixing bowl.

I bake lots of cakes and I think these two additions will be most useful. I will also be adding on the pasta makers and the ravioli maker. I’m also considering the meat grinder for fresh hamburger and I’d like to try my hand at chicken or turkey sausage. This is a somewhat expensive mixer, but you get what you pay for! I believe this KitchenAid will be with me for a VERY long time –it’s worth the investment.
