Confused about when dinner is ready? You don't want to poke and tear it apart, but how can you tell when the Roast is done? You take its temperature! Oregon Scientific has developed a remote wireless thermometer that tells you when your meat is just right! The Grill Right Wireless stands between you and a dry, overdone, tasteless dinner!

Place the probe in the thickest part of the meat, not against the bone. Program your meat choice, and select your temperature. Do you want your steak medium rare? Go for it! You have a choice of four verbal or audio options to let you know how dinner is progressing; almost ready, ready, over-cooked or out-of-range! The audio alarm sounds off when your choice temperature is reached.

You don't have to baby-sit the grill; the main unit is portable. Mingle with your guests, even if your party is the length of a football field. The unit still works up to 330 feet away! So go ahead, and have a good time! With the Grill Right Wireless Thermometer, you don't have to be stuck in the cooking area!

  • newegg Remote Temperature Monitoring for Your Cooking Program your choice of the seven entrées including Beef, Lamb, Veal, Hamburger, Pork, Turkey, Chicken and Fish, place the thermosensor near the cooking area, insert the tip of the probe into the center of the meat and the monitor alerts you when the meat has reached the perfect temperature (within a transmission range of up to 330 feet).
  • newegg Large Digital LCD Screen The Oregon Scientific AW131 BBQ/Oven thermometer features a large LCD screen that clearly displays temperature settings, battery status and various function icons for the ultimate ease of use.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Thermometer

Pros: Great range, synchronizes well with the base, sturdy construction.

Cons: Probes (like all others of this type) prone to moisture damage. Expensive to replace.

Other Thoughts: I have been using this thermometer for nearly a year in many applications from brewing beer, making bbq, smoking meats and grilling. It has not been used in the oven but I don't see any reason it would not work well there too. The digital display is easy to read and well lit. The body of the thermometer and the base are very sturdy and have survived several drops on concrete and my wooden deck.

The original probe died at an inconvenient moment but I have several other digital thermometers as backups. The original probe had a 90degree bend near the junction of the probe and wire. I had left this pointing up inside my smoker and moisture condensed on the wire and got inside the probe. Replacement probes were $20 (as I'm writing this they are down to $13). I bought two.

I have owned a dozen or so wireless and wired thermometers over the years and this one has impressed me the most. If I were to buy a new thermometer today it would be this model. Check O.S. for a lower pri

Pros: The best thing for cooking meat since the fire. Really nice and takes the work out of cooking. Oregon Scientific has the best customer support I have ever experience. Had some trouble with the unit when recieved, talked to support and they sent me another new one and did not want me to ship the bad unit back. They said when I recieve the new unit I will have two probes and recievers. Really nice people to work with and I would highly recommend buying from Oregon Scientific, a real company.

Cons: "Could have used this years ago"

Other Thoughts: Never been treated this nice from a customer service department.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't last long

Pros: Once you get accustomed to it you cannot live without it. Great for thanksgiving turkey too

Cons: Didn't work second season, probably got 3-4 uses. That's $10 per use.

Other Thoughts: Company does offer replacement probes but they are not available at this time, maybe during the winter. Since they are backordered it tells me this is a common problem. I'll still order the replacement @ $13 but I wish it was avail now.

4 out of 5 eggsDon't Give Up

Pros: Works well if you understand it's quirks.

Cons: Setup is confusing.

Other Thoughts: The instructions for this unit are not very complete and I was sure mine was DOA because the hand unit would not communicate with the base even after reseting the base multiple times. The thing that turned the trick for me was to turn on the base, take the batteries out of the hand unit and then put them back in. It found the base, straight away and has been fine from there.

Pros: Does everything you would expect it to do.

Cons: Wish it had a magnet on the bottom.

Other Thoughts: I have used this device on everything from chicken and ribs, to the thanksgiving turkey with great results.

4 out of 5 eggsWonderful wireless thermometer but FLIMSY temperature probes!

Pros: I can't BBQ without it anymore. I'm spoiled. It REALLY takes the pressure off you, since IT is vigilant so you don't have to be. You set it for the temperature you want, stick the probe into what you're cooking, clip the receiver to your belt, and forget about it! You just need to stay within 100 ft of your oven/BBQ, and it will announce (in one of four languages!) when your item is "almost ready", "ready", or "oh my gosh, you have burned the dinner, you idiot!" (Just kidding about that last part.)

Cons: I'd like to give this 5 "stars", but the temperature probe is REALLY fragile! So if the BBQ or oven gets too hot, and/or you crush the cable to hard with the oven door or BBQ lid, the probe will fail. And then you have a doorstop unless you buy another temperature probe. You can only buy the replacement probes directly from Oregon Scientific, but they charge more for shipping than for the replacement probe. I know, because my probe has already failed TWICE (so far), in 14 months of minimal use.

Other Thoughts: Oregon Scientific has really good technical support, and you MIGHT be able to get a new probe for free, even after the warranty is expired, if it's not expired by too much.

5 out of 5 eggsmeat done right

Pros: Adjustable volume, Celsius and Fahrenheitsettings, automatic and manual temperature settings, nice wireless range.

Cons: none so far!

Other Thoughts: I've used this item to cook both chicken and fish on a brinkmann smoker and the resuls have been spectacular both times. Getting meat cooked right on a smoker or a grill can be very dificult. This thing makes it super easy.
