4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Makes rice nice and sticky perfect for sushi.

Cons: Overflows a lot.
When it says "1 cup" it refers to its own measuring tool and not a actual cup.

Other Thoughts: Wish it didn't overflow.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't complain given the price!

Pros: Easy to use; 1-touch operation
Small
Not ugly
Lightweight
Non-stick rice bowl

Haven't had it boil over or fail to cook properly, yet

Cons: Rice is not as high quality as indirect heating
Rice left on "warm" gets a bit crisp on the outside after a while

Other Thoughts: This is inexpensive and handy so it's well worth the money I spent. It doesn't make the quality of rice as one would get from indirect cooking, but those cookers are more expensive and less attractive.

It's nice to be able to make rice easily and not have to watch it, and the rice is as good as you would get from a stove.

I give this 4/5 eggs for quality vs usefulness, but when considering PRICE, the value makes it a 5-egg item.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: *Easy to clean.
*Comes with lots of extras for those who don't have em (Scoop, measuring cup, steamer, etc)
*Never had any problems with it boiling over.
*Owned it for a year and a half and it's still going strong.

Cons: *Teflon coating, so it's starting to get scratched up after 18 months of usage. I'll have to replace it sooner or later. Not really a con but a heads up for those unused to teflon; you can extend its life by not using metal utensils to scrape rice out of the bowl.

Other Thoughts: Rice makers are more or less the same these days, so I wouldn't worry too much about specific brands.

As a college student it's a great staple food for meals, rice is dirt cheap, and can easily be improved by a variety of other foods.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product and great gift!

Pros: Easy to use, lightweight, idiot-proof rice!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Have been using this for many months, liked it so much I bought one for a family member for the holidays. I have cooked all forms of rice, and it also can cook any kind of rice packets that come with seasoning. Basically anything that is cooked withe water and simmers can be done in this thing. It also cooks brown rice perfect and a lot faster than on the stove.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cheap rice cooker

Pros: Easy to clean, comes with everything you need to make and serve rice, and cooks almost completely evenly.

Cons: Slight bit of burning on the bottom, not enough manual control over rice, cover gets a bit messy and may have a small bit of mess around the cleaner if you don't wash the rice repeatedly (removing most of the nutrients I might add).

Other Thoughts: I used to use an extremely cheap no brand model that used bo stick a layer of rice to the bottom, was a pain to clean, and in general was a hassle to work with. This one is idiot proof and aside from the slight mess if any rice water spouts out of the top it's a pleasure to use. For the mess a single wet paper towel more or less removes what little counter residue is left, so I don't think it's that huge of a con for the price. It's fairly small, so it works well for dorms and if you're not the type to make mass quantities of rice at once.

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Rice Cooker Ever.

Pros: None

Cons: Never buy the Black and Decker..One of the worst rice cooker ever.

Stopped working after a month or so and while cooking the steam come out of the cooker and spills all around your kitchen. It will be a cleaning nightmare.

Very small..can accomodate only 1-2 cups of uncooked rice (Cooked may be 5-6 cups) Not enough if your main course is Rice. Tried to return before using it as it is very small but I need to pay the return shipping which is around $12 and I Paid like 19 dollars to get this. Need to pay more than 60% of the price I paid for shipping.

Never buy again from New Egg. Worst Return Policy ever.

4 out of 5 eggsperfect for steel cut oat meal

Pros: I have never used this for rice but it makes great steel cut oatmeal with a ration of 1 (oatmeal) to 4 (water).

Cons: Me for not using a rice cooker earlier.

Other Thoughts: I got a lower price locally.
