Other Thoughts: It seems the base of the unit was reconstructed and then sold back to me. As a result, the unit was extremely fragile, and even with great care, the whole bottom cracked open after a couple weeks. After debating with Haier customer support, they quickly concluded that a refurbished item DOES NOT benefit to any manufactural garantee. I wish newegg would have said so on the buyig page.

Pros: -cools fast

-for $189, it was a steal, im glad i didn't cancel due to the HUGE SHIPPING DELAY(2 weeks)
-you wont find a better deal

Cons: -radiator fins were ben, which i dont understand since its caged in really well
-remote was sticky as if it had been in a diabetic toddlers mouth
-warranty is a joke
-airflow is NOT directionally adjustable

Other Thoughts: -shipping was a half the speed of smell, i wanted this item so much sooner, better late than never right?
-it would have been nice for them to include a longer exhaust tube
-i'd recommend getting some sort of insulator for the tube, as soon as the unit turns off, the heat radiates back into the room
i also waitied a while before reviewing this just to be sure

-FYI for hot summer days, this unit sometimes has trouble competing with the outside temps, on some very hot and humid days sometimes the temp will go up even when its been running for hours

Pros: It Blows Cold Air!!!
And it is working thus far on a record breaking day

Cons: Install Parts missing or damaged
Good size "Scuff Marks" on the top next to the control Panel.
Doesn't come with Batteries for Remote.
Remote has no "Display" so to adjust numerical settings you have to get up and go to the unit to see the amount you want to adjust by which basically renders the remote USELESS
The Unit has some cosmetic flaws

Other Thoughts: I purchased this as a Refurb Unit during the Hottest June/July in the History of Seattle WA. Newegg has been my favorite tech provider for many years and here is an example of why that is. I ordered the A/C on the morning of the 1st of July, and opted for the Free Shipping which is 3-7 business days. This being a Large Item I was sure that it would be a week before it would arrive. The thing is that today is July 3rd and the Temps are a Record Breaking 95 degrees and I live in a Brick Building on the 8th floor with a wonderful WESTERLY View of the Space Needle and Puget Sound as well as the Olympic Mountains, but the down side is that The Afternoon Sun BEATS ON MY APT UNTIL 9:15pm heating up the Bricks, which turns my Apt into A Brick Pizza Oven! So back to why I Really Like Newegg and make almost all of my purchases with them. At about 12:45pm the big white Van pulled up and to my amazement MY NEW 10,000BTU A/C unit was on a dolly and ROLLING THROUGH MY DOOR, AND THE AMAZING THING IS THAT THIS WAS ON JULY 3rd, not even 3 full days after I placed the order!!! I mean REALLY WHO ELSE WOULD PROVIDE SERVICE LIKE THAT AFTER I CHOSE THE FREE SHIPPING!

Pros: It works. somewhat.

Cons: Purchased Two of these. One worked great, the other performed sub-par. Pain to drain if it fills up with water. Also the window vent needs better tabs. If you bump the unit the exhaust vent pulls out of the window kit.

Pros: Almost everything. First one arrived damaged in shipping. Newegg had a new one to me within 10 days. Thank goodness as it has been over 90 degrees for many days. This a/c has literally saved my life as I don't do well in hot weather.
I live in Washington state so not so humid. Have not had to empty water once.

Cons: Expect some noise as it is moving a lot of air and it is in the same room with you so you will hear it.

Other Thoughts: Showed two of my friends how well it worked and they bought one too.

Pros: Today it was 86 outside and a cool 71 in my apartment. For me this thing is absolutely a great buy. Last year I suffered from the heat in the summer months...

Cons: 1.) Is kinda loud but I think its quite normal considering the job it's doing.
2.) The heat exhaust hose is thin/cheap and emits alot of heat.
3.) Window kit is cheap and adds heat back to the room.

Other Thoughts: The first week I thought I made a terrible mistake! The unit was only cooling my apartment by 2-3 degrees. I was very upset.

But I decided to see f I could fix the situation...

The "window kit" I decided to throw away. I bought a piece of 1-inch thick piece of plywood, trimmed it to fit the window and made a 17-inch circumference hole in the center. Then I picked up a dryer vent kit from the local hardware store to serve as the exhaust hose mount.

I realized that the exhaust hose that came with the air conditioner was emitting alot of heat. I wrapped it with an insulation and some "Heat Shield Tape"

It came out quite well... I ended up painting the plywood matte black and it looks quite professional. I actually run this thing 24 hours a day and now I get to enjoy 71 degrees indoors on 86 degree days.

Pros: 1. cheap
2. even the lowest fan level provides decent airflow

Cons: 1. The min. temp the ac would produce is at 75 F for its best while the outside temp is at 73 F
2. it is a bit loud.
3. Every 1 hour you have to drain the water, it will be slightly more than half bottle.
4. the unit is not really that portable, it's bigger than you expected and really heavy to lift up!

Other Thoughts: Just received this unit this evening and tested it out tonight, don't think it will perform any better during the daytime =_=

Pros: works as an a/c should, didn't have to be emptied for as long as i used it. i expected better cooling out of 10000btu but was unaware of the inefficiency of these portable units. cannot comment on the long term reliability.....

Cons: window kit for mounting exhaust tube does not secure too well. occasionally mine has fallen off since i insulated the tube to try to reduce the amount of heat it gives off

Other Thoughts: I have decided to return this portable unit. lets put it this way, this unit is a good alternative for those who cannot mount a window unit. otherwise go with a window a/c. been shopping newegg roughly 10 years, they never disappoint...

Pros: Cheap. Newegg customer service.

Cons: Haier customer service is horrible.

Other Thoughts: Katherine at Newegg customer service responded to my review and gave me the option to return or replace the unit. Also gave me contact info for Haier as I wanted to get it resolved instead of the hassle of shipping unit back. Full marks for Newegg customer service, although contacting them took writing these reviews...
Haier was MOST unhelpful. I quote from the email correspondence with Kate @ Haier (Not to be confused with Katherine @ newegg) "The auto evaporation feature on this unit does not include the evaporation of moisture. This is how the unit was designed." and "We are sorry about the confusion but for your unit it is normal that there is still water being collected especially when it is humid." Totally missed the point. I have returned the unit and received a full refund with no cost to me at all. Kudos to Katherine.

Pros: Cools small rooms easy.
Easy to install. (even in vertical sliding windows)
Bought two and in conjunction with a 1200 BTU we already owned they keep they whole house cool in the summer.

Cons: amp draw.
when compressor kicks it might shut throw switch (Manual says to give it it's own breaker)
