Pros: It has a small size and appears nice, would have worked for our needs as far as cooling goes.

Cons: Was very loud and also had a significant vibration/shudder that would set in. Also showed signs of heavy use when inspected closely as if they cleaned it on the surface and areas easily visible, but behind the screens in the nooks/cranny's there was dust, fuzz and hair. My unit also smelled as if it was used previously by a smoker which is completely unacceptable if it was and then resold.

I would guess whoever owned it originally returned it for the noise and they just quickly cleaned it off and boxed it back up as a refurb.

Pros: Great deal for a refinished unit, mine came with everything a non refurbished one would. The only thing I can see wrong with the one I received was the window tube was a little bent on one end but that was no big deal.

Cons: The price dropped 5 bucks the day after I placed the order one.

Pros: Easy Install. Comes with mostly everything you may need. Blows cool air. Very Quiet. Took 30 minutes to install. Took about 5 minutes to cool our 200 sq ft room.

Cons: 30 day warranty. Shipped Upside down - had to wait 24 hours before using. Lacks better installation directions for non-window installs.

Other Thoughts: During the summer our in home gym gets to be between 98 - 102 degrees. I stumbled across a sale on this AC and I quickly purchased the Portable AC so we could cool our gym when we workout it. I believe overall it is a good investment. I didn't like that it came with a 30 day warranty and no instructions on how to install it in a wall. The warranty issue was remedied. I ended up purchasing a Square Trade 3-Year Housewares Extended Protection Plan for $29.11 from the site with Prime Shipping. Their plans cover refurbished items as well.

The external slats on the front vent are lose, so keeping dropping down.
The internal & external vent slats are not wide enough to direct air flow as well as the could.

Other Thoughts: I have been looking for a portable A/C unit for some time. They tend to start at about $330+. So when I found this one at $179 incl. free shipping, I was happy. I ordered it on the Wednesday, and it arrived on the Friday - great for free shipping.

When I opened the box, there was 1 part damaged (the exhaust hose) and 1 part missing (the connector that connects the hose to the window cover kit). I tried calling Newegg but the hold time was horrendous, so I e-mailed them instead and was told to expect a reply within 48 hours. They replied on Sunday telling me that I had to deal directly with the manufacturer, Haier.

I had already called Haier on the Friday, and they told me that I could purchase the replacement parts, even though I had purchased a new unit. The total cost with shipping would have been more than $38. I declined.

I called Haier back on Monday and was able to get my call escalated. They finally agreed to send me new parts which should be with me in 10 to 15 business days, so almost 3 weeks since purchasing the unit, which is horrendous. I purchased an air conditioner. I want to be able to use it right away. I believe that Newegg should have a better relationship and fast and more efficient process with their vendors for missing/replacement parts.

I did test the A/C unit out in the garage and it does work great. Very easy to understand how to put together. I would say total assembly including unboxing, positioning, installing the window cover, and installing and connecting the hose as well. Then reading the very simple, thin manual, and understanding how to operate is also. All very quick. I would say the entire process would be under 5 minutes. Great for an A/C unit.

It cools super-fast and the filters make sure that only clean air is dispensed. I reach my temperature goals very fast. For instance, the garage was 80. I had the unit on for 20 minutes or so, and it cooled to 70. That is good, especially when then outside temperature was 87.
The exhaust hose does get hot very quickly though, heating the air around it. Simple insulation would have cured this. The external slats on the front vent (the ones that control air flow up and down) are lose, so keeping dropping down. A simple piece of hidden tape solves this. The internal slats (for directing air left to right) and the external slats are also not very wide, so they don not deflect and direct the air flow as efficiently as they could.

I would highly recommend this unit.

Pros: This Haier HPY08XCM-LW 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner is a great product. Even though it states "Refurbished", the unit and parts appeared to be factory sealed...upon unpacking there was not a scratch, dent or ding to be found. It works perfectly keeping my bedroom cool for those hot Arizona summer nights. I can highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed!

Pros: Seems to be working even though UPS drop kicked it a few times. I'm running it 24/7 to make sure it doesn't have a slow freon leak or other problem.

Cons: Delivered with a broken wheel (shattered) and cracked window kit with a chunk broken off. There is a very brief return time frame and an also extremely brief warranty period. You have to decide in a few weeks whether to keep it or if it needs warranty repair. In either case your shipping expense since this is heavy will be high. Decent risk the expense of shipping this back will negate the possible savings of buying refurbished.

Other Thoughts: Filled out a form online @ www.ConsumerServiceRefurbish.com and requested a replacement wheel and window kit. Then called 2 days later and told they would try and send the parts out in a week or two. Not sure If I should return or wait for the parts? If they send the parts and the unit continues to work then I'm satisfied.

Pros: Only 65 pounds and blows cold air like an arctic storm! Well worth the money.

Cons: None. This unit is excellent.

Other Thoughts: If you are considering this, get it. I checked the competition and they just cant compete with NewEgg on price or shipping. Buy this AC.
