CONAIR WW48 Weight Watchers Glass Precision Electronic Scale

Pros: Do what is suppose to do. Accurate. Good.

Pros: If you are enormous with big feet like me, you will like this scale. Unfortunately, I need a scale that will read weight in excess of 300 pounds and I have size 13 feet. This scale reads up to 400 pounds and my feet fit on it with a little room to spare. The digital read out is large and very easy to read. The tempered glass and chrome accented body of the scale are appropiate to a bathroom environment.

Pros: Attractive, very legible, reasonably accurate consumer quality digital bathroom scale with manufacturer unacknowledged limitations that realistically one should expect (see specifics below)

Cons: If you're hoping to weigh small children, be aware that the sample I was shipped won't "trigger" display reliably with less than 50 lbs (although the specs make no mention of a minimum weight threshold.) Also, as MM reported here in a 1/16/10 review, the scale has a memory effect that lasts nearly a minute. If you weigh yourself multiple times, pausing only 15 seconds between weighings, the reading can be remarkably stable to four digits! However that is NOT a true measure of the scale's accuracy/reproducibility, but rather simply due to the memory effect. This can be shown by making a precise one pound weight (I used a calibrated triple beam postal scale) and then weighing yourself alternately with and without the extra weight. When performed "quickly", without a minute or two pause, the readout (shown to tenths of a pound) remains the same!

Other Thoughts: With a couple minutes pause, one finds that the extra pound is detected, though not with high accuracy. However, because of measurement rounding/truncation issues, etc, arguably one pound is a rather fine-grained perturbation by which to assess other aspects of the scale's accuracy/reproducibility. So I next assembled a four pound weight. Without making a huge/formal statistical project out of it, to my simple tests, the scale seems to be "accurate" within about half a pound (which is impressive for a consumer quality 400 lb capacity scale.) But I haven't attempted to generate a proper/absolute calibration curve. The strain gauges and circuit employed may have received some form of multipoint calibration at the factory; so, at a different base weight (I'm about 220 lbs), with luck you may obtain better performance; though worse might also be found.

Pros: Light weight and attractive it looks good on the bathroom floor. Easy to read display and fast read time.

Cons: I get a different weight within minutes of the last weight sometimes. If I weight myself 5 times in a row, calibrating each time, I get the same weight. If I stand by the scale and wait a few minutes, then get on it again, I get a different weight, sometimes by about 1-2 lbs. A bit frustrating as I threw out my old Sunbeam digital scale for this very reason. Right back where I started from.

Other Thoughts: Over all an ok scale for basic needs but I was hoping for something more accurate. Best way to put it....I would not buy it again and wish I had kept my Sunbeam so I could return this one. Grrrrr...

Pros: Great Scale, goes to 400lbs! Great for Big Guys like me whom need to lose weight. Worked as advertised.

Cons: Made of glass, which doesn't fit my bathroom decor and gets dirty easily.

Other Thoughts: I think it comes with batteries, always a plus. The scale feels sturdy, and if it matches your room, then go ahead and get it. The read-out with blue backlight is easy to read.

Pros: Quality product, looks nice enough to be in a guest bathroom, I think it goes up to 400 lbs.?, glass cleans easily. Same model as sold at (@$+co warehouse stores.

Cons: You need to occasionally wipe off the glass since any filth is quite noticeable. Like most non-mechanical scales it need a solid surface to have any accuracy. The two step activation/calibration and then weighing process take longer, about half a minute all together, then a non-self-calibrating model. Regular NewEgg price is too high but the sale price is good.

Other Thoughts: Blue with large black numbers, weight to the nearest .1 pounds. You step on it with on foot briefly to activate it and step of immediately and wait a while while it calibrate for 0 pounds. If you stay on too long it will give an "Err" erro message. Just try again. Once that's done you step on it to get the weight.

Pros: Pretty darn stylish. Digital scale that's calibrated every power up instead of annoying analog ones you have to dial in (if it even has that control available!). Has a switch to change between lb and kg switch, supports up to 350lb.

Cons: Uses a coin cell battery that's harder to find than regular AA/AAAs and the battery cover keeps falling off, probably due to vibration from turning it on. You have to strike it in the middle pretty hard to turn on, so in addition to jiggling the batter cover off, it tends to travel along the floor. Also right out of the box it has a really stuck on sticker with instructions so plan on breaking out the solvent and a razor blade.

Other Thoughts: I needed a digital scale that could survive bathroom humidity and this one does just well. I don't care so much for the Weight Watcher's branding on it as I would have preferred it to be blank, but, it's easily overlooked.
