Pros: It's quiet, I bought another one that I returned because it sounded like an old refrigerator, and I'm using it in my room. This one is much more quiet, and I can sleep easier in my room with it. I read in several places that the dehumidifiers could be very noisy, specially the ones that cool down the air in the cold metal coils to condensate the water, fortunately this was made to be quiet
Cons: Unfortunately (in my opinion 'cause I live in florida), like most dehumidifiers, they heat up the air again, and that actually the air that comes out is a little bit warmer, and eventually brings up the temperature of the room, and since I'm using it in my living room, in the time to bring down the humidity from 60% to 40% @ 73F the temperature goes up between 5F and 7F depending also if I leave it on the whole time on or turn it off.
Other Thoughts: A 40 pint dehumidifier for a small living room of just over 10x10 feet is just too much but brings down the humidity pretty fast (like 20% in 15 minutes). I got in winter so it hasn't been used much, but still I got it because I have a collection of anime dvds boxsets in my room and clothes; I live in Florida, and my father leaves the back door to the yard open in SUMMER in the day for the dogs to come in and out whenever they want, and humidity in summer is just insane, plus the heat, so the house almost always have this bothering feeling of humid with an acutal humidity between 60% and 71% @ 78-79F. The air acconditioner, can bring down the humidity to 50% in 15 min. but with a door open the whole day is just a waste of energy and effort, so I didn't want to keep arguing, and got the dehumidifier. I'll probably get the an extension to the door for the dogs. but that's another issue.

Cons: none
Other Thoughts: My first dehumidifier and so far I am pleased. Its doing the job I needed.

Not Energy Star
Reviewed By: Greg on 10/8/2009
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Quiet. Takes a lot of moisture out of air quickly. Attractive. Handle is convenient for moving the unit.
Cons: 1. Several reviews commented on good energy efficiency compared to a unit over a decade old. The reviews were numerically accurate but do not reflect comparisons I would have made to more modern units. When I measured the power consumption with the Kilowatt meter, I found the unit consumed 272 Watts, better than the 350 W rating on the box. I have two Fedders dehumidifiers that are Energy Star rated. Each of these draw 72 Watts which is only about a quarter of the electricity cost for operation. 2. The capacity of the holding tank is also smaller than the Fedders.
Other Thoughts: The unit needs emptying twice a day unless used with a drain hose.
