1 out of 5 eggsjunk

Pros: hot. cheap

Cons: totally non functional thermostat makes it unusable. unfortunately changing the temperature control doesn't have any consequence, my heater is always on 100% of the time superheating the room! cheap build and no control mean that i would never want to leave this unattended or in the hands of anyone i care about!

Other Thoughts: shame, i had high hopes!

I would return it if the box wasn't so gigantic..

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Heats medium to small rooms well. Doesn't burn immediately on contact like some other electric radiator type heaters I've used.
Remote works well.

Cons: None so far, wouldn't be as effective in larger rooms I'm sure.

Other Thoughts: Ordered a few of these from another site at a higher price and had been using them for a few months before ordering another one at a great price from Newegg. I have no problem using it in the kids room as well.

4 out of 5 eggsLongevity

Pros: Works well, so far.

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: Other Soleus Air models work well before they fail. Had 2 other non remote Soleus Air's fail in 1 to 2 years. Waiting to see what happens with 2 Soleus Air HM2-15R-32 Micathermic Flat Panel Heater with Remote Control, one year and still going. Good heater with remote

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't last 1 year

Pros: Had potential, quiet

Cons: Only worked for 3 months. Control panel LEDs started not displaying correctly and thermostat would ignore settings and run non-stop. One day it stopped responding completely. Tried a different model from Soleus which lasted 30 days with different issues, though the same end result of a dead unit. Avoid this brand at all costs. QC is apparently non-existent.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Beautiful heat, warms like the sun. Low electrical consumption.

Cons: Brought four three years ago. One broke first year, replaced in warranty. Two more broke since then, only two left and one, the replacement, works on and off. On the whole unit is not long-lived.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic heater

Pros: quiet, fast, 750w setting, good thermostat control, good, slim remote, easy to view panel settings

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The only noise from this unit is a periodic click when on the high setting. I've noticed no noise on the 750w setting. I use this for supplemental heat in a room that isn't well insulated and it works well on the low setting. I can view the panel controls from across the room and the remote works perfectly.

The advantage of this heater is that it continues to radiate heat even when it isn't drawing power so you don't get the ups and downs in temp you do with forced air heaters. Also, I think the convection currents it creates help make the heating feel smoother but that's just my speculation.

I love this heater and intend to get 2 more for the rooms I spend the most time in so that I can turn down the thermostat on the central heat a couple of degrees.

2 out of 5 eggsOil filled are better, less expensive

Pros: Heats the room quickly, no hot-spots to get burned on

Cons: Thermostat does not work well. It's either way too hot, or way too cold. We tried putting one in the middle of our small house turned up medium-high with a fan blowing on it, but it would shut off. No HEAT!

Other Thoughts: I suggest getting a couple brand name oil filled heaters, and turn a fan on them to blow the heat around.

2 out of 5 eggs1 season

Pros: It kept my house from freezing which is what I bought it for but see Cons.

Cons: I got one season of use out of it. Tried to fire it up this season to use and got electrical arcing and then nothing. No heat. I expected more than a season of use out of this product and I've been sorely disappointed by it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice heater!

Pros: Remote controlled, with nice even heating, auto tip-over auto-off and thermostatically controlled.

It's now sitting in our living room of a big ol' Victorian house, and it heats evenly, and keeps it warm. We'll leave it on from now, till probably April, and don't have to worry about it tipping over & burning the old joint down.

Cons: I did notice a weird smell that so many others have mentioned, but I have no problem with that. It burned off totally within a couple of days. Even then it wasn't an unpleasant odor... it was just there...

Other Thoughts: I rated myself as "Somewhat high", but I'm not sure what my knowledge has to do with a heater. I love this thing, and now I see it's on the "Shell Shocker" list again! I bought this thing last December, and I love it! And at 55 bucks it can't be beat. It's perfect for a small to medium sized room, and would even do pretty well in a large room that doesn't quite heat as it should.

I'll probably buy another tonight when it goes on sale again!
