2 out of 5 eggsDoes not last more than two year

Pros: Worked fine for 2 years

Cons: Machine used to run but does not dehumidify. I came to know that it is not working only after smell in basement.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for a while.

Pros: Worked well for 24 months. It was used six months of each year.

Cons: Compressor stopped working after 24 months. Customer support was basically non-existent.

Other Thoughts: Not built to last.
Repair is more costly than purchasing another unit.

1 out of 5 eggsCrapped out after two years

Pros: Was relatively quiet
Soleus seemed to have good reputation

Cons: Crapped out after two years... Bought in June of 2010, noticed in late 2011 was not running quite the way it did when new - compressor sounded a bit off. Thiough nothing of this until turned unit on May 1st of this year and after five weeks running, humidity is increasing and no water is coming out of hose. Also, the unit is running very hot.

Other Thoughts: We have been through 4 dehumidifiers over the past ten years. None of them seem to last, and our basement is not overly humid. We dehumidify because we keep some inventory for our retail Awards store there and want to insure nothing rusts. We have a very old (30+ years) Whirlpool unit that still works, but it will freeze up sometimes due to basement being a bit on the cool side. This is why we have been trying the newer models as most self-defrost. Unfortunatley, the cheap Chinese compressors in these things just never last. Very disappointing as every 2-3 years we have to spend another $200...

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent piece of equipment

Pros: Not noisy at all - I don't believe you can get a quieter machine with this capacity. Removed a LOT of humidity from my basement, can drop more than 10 % in just a couple of hours. The ventilation is really good - strong fan. Paid VERY cheap when compared to retail stores (including the big blue one) - about half of the price for similar equipments.

Cons: No cons up to now.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk...

Pros: None

Cons: * Does not reduce the humidity below 70% despite running continuously.
* Continuous drain hose does not work. Poor design - hard to attach hose to fitting.
* Waste of money.
* company charges you shipping costs > $50 to fix the dehumidifier even during the warranty period.
* Wish there was a way to give it 0 eggs!

2 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed

Pros: Easy setup. Looks nice

Cons: Will not lower the humidity below 55% even when running continuously. Have had it set to 45% for the past week but obviously it will not get there. It would have been nice if a hose had been part of the deal.

Other Thoughts: Had just recently purchased a 45 pint Soleus that was able to get humidity down to 50% by running continuously. I took it back and exchanged it for the 70 pint model thinkg that it would be able to get the humidity down to 45% But it didn't do as well.

2 out of 5 eggsBe Aware of The Warranty!

Pros: Unit has a good reputation, it is the same as the GE unit.
Both use Chinese sealed systems.

Cons: If i t breaks during the one year warranty YOU will have to pack it 50# and ship it at your expense to their facility in California before you can get a replacement from them.
NO local service centers!

Other Thoughts: This is the reason I didn't buy in spite of the reviews.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performance!

Pros: Best dehumidifier I ever owner. Whirlpool, etc. can't compare in quality and performance. I was so impressed I also got the 30 pint version from BJs for $100 w/coupon.

Cons: None. Absolutely none.

5 out of 5 eggsIt Works!

Pros: It's truly a plug-and-play appliance. Plug it in, and it works. Removes large amounts of water rather quickly. Has a nice look.

Cons: Water bucket does not have a spout.
