5 out of 5 eggs2nd review

Pros: I'd previously mentioned this is an exact match for a GE branded 5000btu unit which I've had going on now for 3x summers, in S. Texas !! So far is still awesome..

Cons: Is a little noisy, but not clunky... Solid 60 cycle hum from compressor (scroll)...

Other Thoughts: I've said to friends, and spouse... Is best *$99 (+ tax) (*when I bought GE variant) I'd ever spent for anything... If you get a good one it'll freeze you out...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent cooling. Not too heavy.

Cons: Outflow is not as directable as I would have liked.

Other Thoughts: On low cooling, combined with a floor fan on low speed to redirect air upwards, the upstairs rooms became quite cool even during the hottest of the summer days. In addition it lowered the electric bill even when left running all day. I can only figure it's more efficient than the central air unit.

4 out of 5 eggssame as 5000 btu GE exactly...

Pros: Obviously I have the GE branded one w / different decals (all else exact !)...
For a 5000btu this light weight, this cheap, and is on same outlet as my PC w / out incident, this unit is awesome.

Cons: Not made here !

Other Thoughts: The reason these don't drain is because the water is suppossed to accumulate so the blade will splash the water onto condenser coils cooling them in addition to air flow for better efficiency...

4 out of 5 eggsEffective

Pros: This devices effectively cools one room to a acceptable temperature. It managed to bring the temperature of my room to a habitable temp after a few hours. I combined it with a small fan to distribute the cool air better.

Cons: After running constantly for a few days its effectiveness decreased but just turning it off for a half hour and turning it back on seemed to correct it.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked as expected. A bit louder than I hoped.

Cons: Package arrived damaged. I had to bend the mounting bracket back to have it work properly, but it is fine now.

Other Thoughts: Bad idea to ship an AC, as it is likely going to be damaged by the handler.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: My previous review is not posted but if it is an update. We are experiencing 92 degrees and over 80 dew point. This unit is installed in a well insulated shop 12x20. It is adequate for a shop. I would purchase this unit for a 10x12 bed room.

The price was right with free shipping

Cons: Not really a con but if I was to do it over again, I would spend the extra for an 8000 btu unit. I received what I paid for.

4 out of 5 eggsOK for the price

Pros: It does the job. I installed it in my well insulated shop of about 250 sq ft. After three hours, the shop was cooler but the humidity although better was not all that great. Our dew point today was over 70, while the high was in the mid 80s. The unit is installed, as instructed, about a third of a bubble tilted to the outside but it does not drain correctly. I am going to tilt it a little more to see if that helps. As other reviews stated, I can’t tell much difference in performance between low and high cool. I just left it on low cool and the noise is acceptable.

The price was right especially with free shipping and with NewEgg being the retailer. As usual from NewEgg, the service is exceptional. I received the unit only a few days from my order. Also, I have returned stuff before to New Egg and never had an issue with the return or the credit.

Cons: No real cons considering the price.

Other Thoughts: We are going to have a heat wave starting Sunday where it will receive a major test and if my view changes, I will add to this review.

5 out of 5 eggsGood A/C

Pros: This AC is good for the price, it cools nice! easy to understand.

Cons: Has its noise that it makes Ping sounds, but i got use to it.. And fan does not shut off.

Other Thoughts: (Might see if using a thermostat/plug would help that throws the power on at the temp u set it at or it just keeps running the fan when compressor is off)
